Chapter 120 Divorce Certificate
On the day they received their divorce certificate, it was the old man who accompanied Jiang Xingyao.
Jin Qingyu was also there. He remained silent, glancing at Jiang Xingyao every now and then.
His eyes were constantly churning with emotions that were hard to decipher.
Jiang Xingyao never made eye contact with him from beginning to end.
The atmosphere between the two was even colder than when they last met.
Today, the same young woman was handling the paperwork as last time. Jiang Xingyao watched as she readily took out the divorce certificate, had it stamped, and then handed it to them.
Everything went smoothly, unbelievably, like a dream.
The old man was still smugly saying, "See? What do you mean we have to wait thirty days? With Grandpa's help, we'll make sure Yao Yao gets out of this misery as soon as possible."
Before Jiang Xingyao could speak, Jin Qingyu suddenly snorted coldly: "Yes, you are the most amazing old man. Congratulations on single-handedly sentencing your own son to a life without a wife."
His voice was sarcastic and seemed to carry a strong sense of resentment.
The old man raised his cane and struck his leg without hesitation: "How dare you talk like that? Isn't all of this your own doing? Yaoyao is such a good girl. If you hadn't forced her so many times, how could she have gotten a divorce?"
"Alright, I can't be bothered to talk to you anymore. Now that you've got the certificate, you'd better get back to the company."
Jin Qingyu's gaze fell on Jiang Xingyao again, with an ambiguous feeling. He said in a light voice, "Grandpa, why are you in such a hurry? Yaoyao and I are just divorced, it's not like we're never going to see each other again."
These days, many people get divorced and then remarry. A divorce certificate only means that our relationship has temporarily broken down; it doesn't mean it will last forever, right, Yao Yao?
Jiang Xingyao's eyes remained cold and she never looked at him, which made Jin Qingyu extremely displeased.
He was clearly doing it on purpose, trying to attract Jiang Xingyao's attention.
Her fingers gently traced her own divorce certificate, the wedding ring on her ring finger scraping against the surface of the certificate with a soft sound.
He stared at Jiang Xingyao with an unwavering determination.
"Get out of here and stop bothering people." The old man yelled at Jin Qingyu again in annoyance. He asked Jiang Xingyao, "Yaoyao, you're going to Hong Kong soon, right? You don't know when you'll be back in the capital. Before you leave, can you come back to the old house and have a meal with your grandpa?"
With the divorce certificate in hand, the huge weight that had been hanging over her heart was lifted, and Jiang Xingyao did not refuse.
The old man saw Jin Qingyu return to the company again, but Jin Qingyu didn't leave. Instead, he opened the door of the Maybach with practiced ease and sat in the back seat.
The old man snorted coldly and said to Jiang Xingyao, "Let him sit. Grandpa will take Yaoyao back by taxi. I've been annoyed by this bastard these past few days."
He slammed the back door shut, then said to the driver, "Old Liu, lock the car and take him straight to the company. Don't let me see him."
As the Maybach engine roared to life, Jiang Xingyao could almost see Jin Qingyu's ashen face through the slightly open rear window.
But her heart remained calm and undisturbed.
Throughout the journey, the old man kept trying to find topics to talk about with Jiang Xingyao. Jiang Xingyao felt that after the divorce certificate was issued, the old man seemed to have become the kind grandfather who had treated her when she was a child. Their relationship was just a normal grandfather-granddaughter relationship, with nothing more involved.
Chen's mother was busy in the room.
Aunt Jin was also helping.
When she saw Jiang Xingyao come out, she greeted her politely. Although she was curious about whether Jiang Xingyao and Jin Qingyu had successfully divorced, as an elder, she did not inquire too much.
Only Jin Yuanqiu couldn't contain herself and blurted out, "Second sister-in-law, did you really divorce my second brother?"
“We’re divorced,” Jiang Xingyao said.
She never imagined that one day she could so casually and directly state the fact that she and Jin Qingyu were getting a divorce.
Even when she looks back on the eight years she liked Jin Qingyu and silently watched him, she still finds it a bit unbelievable.
It turns out that an eight-year-long affection can really be shattered in an instant.
Jin Yuanqiu stared wide-eyed at the divorce certificate in Jiang Xingyao's hand, seemingly still a little dazed.
The old man retorted angrily, "What kind of look is that? It's just a divorce, what's so surprising? Besides, even if they're divorced, Yaoyao is still my granddaughter."
"No, I was just wondering if I can stop calling her Second Sister-in-law from now on?" Jin Yuanqiu muttered.
The old man said, "Why call her Second Sister-in-law anymore? From now on, call her Sister Yao Yao."
Lunch was ready quickly.
Jin Yanzhou and Jin Qingyu returned almost one after the other.
During the meal, the old man was incredibly generous and even had a bottle of his own wine opened. Ignoring Jin Qingyu's gloomy expression, he immediately said, "Come on, let's all wish Yao Yao a happy divorce."
His words seemed to be deliberately stabbing Jin Qingyu in the heart.
With a clatter, Jin Qingyu slammed his chopsticks on the table: "Grandpa, are you ever going to stop?"
“My Yaoyao has finally gotten rid of you, you bastard. What’s wrong with me being happy? If you’re unhappy, just go out. Anyway, this meal wasn’t made for you,” the old man said.
Anyone could tell that the old man wasn't genuinely happy; he was just holding back his anger and deliberately provoking Jin Qingyu.
Perhaps his weakness had been exploited, Jin Qingyu fell silent, while Jin Yanzhou asked sarcastically, "Really divorced? And you got the divorce certificate?"
Hey sister-in-law, have you checked it carefully? Are you sure there's nothing wrong?
I've heard there are a lot of fake document makers out there, so you'd better keep your eyes open and not be fooled by those with ulterior motives.
Jiang Xingyao's fingers, which were holding the chopsticks, stiffened slightly. The old man also frowned. The atmosphere at the table seemed to be frozen because of Jin Yanzhou's words. Every now and then, people would glance at the sofa.
Jiang Xingyao's bag was there, containing the divorce certificate she had just received that day.
As the situation remained deadlocked, Jin Qingyu suddenly stood up, walked over to Jin Yanzhou, raised his fist, and punched Jin Yanzhou in the side of the face.
Before Jin Yanzhou could say anything, Jin Manchuan, who was standing next to him, angrily said, "What do you want now, you madwoman? This is a family banquet, how can we tolerate you throwing a tantrum like this?"
Jin Qingyu said, "I'm throwing a tantrum? Dad, why don't you see how my good older brother is rubbing salt into my wounds?"
"I'm getting a divorce, not a wedding. You're all having a joyous banquet here, spouting nonsense. What's wrong with me hitting him?"
Jin Yanzhou pressed the tip of his tongue against his palate and chuckled, "My sister-in-law is quite naive. She finally got her marriage certificate. It's not wrong for me, as her older brother, to give her a little reminder, is it? Why are you in such a hurry? Are you feeling guilty?"
Jin Qingyu's face darkened, and he was about to make a move again when the old man roared, "Enough! The certificate was obtained at the Civil Affairs Bureau. I personally accompanied Yaoyao there. Azhou, you are not allowed to talk nonsense again. Ayu, if you can eat this food, come and sit down. If you can't, then leave."
Jin Qingyu finally put Jin Yanzhou down and sat back down.
Jin Yanzhou chuckled again: "Grandpa is just glad that nothing unexpected has happened. Let's hope there won't be any more trouble later."
Jin Qingyu asked, "So, does that mean I have to take my divorce certificate and get it checked again?"
Jin Yanzhou, you're a grown man, is it really meaningful for you to keep rubbing salt into people's sore spots over such trivial matters?
If you really have so many opinions, why don't you take them and confront me on official business? What business is it of yours what I do with my personal affairs?
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing again, the old man slammed his hand on the table: "Enough! If you don't want to eat, both of you get out."
Seeing that the old man was truly angry, Jin Yanzhou remained silent this time.
The atmosphere eased considerably, and the old man looked at Jiang Xingyao again and said, "Yaoyao, the house in Wangshan Manor that you mentioned last time, Grandpa has already sold it for you, and the money has been transferred to your account. If you encounter any problems in the future, just tell Grandpa. Don't try to handle everything alone."
The old man changed the subject, and Jiang Xingyao nodded in agreement.
Jin Qingyu sat opposite Jiang Xingyao. He glanced at Jiang Xingyao out of the corner of his eye, his eyes still dark and brooding, as if hiding a silent storm.
After the meal, the old man asked a driver to take Jiang Xingyao. Jin Yanzhou volunteered, but Jin Qingyu immediately refused, and the two argued again.
The old man scolded both of them, but in the end, he still had the driver take them out of the old house. Jin Yanzhou followed them out.
"Big brother, is there something you need?" Jiang Xingyao asked.
She believed that her relationship with Jin Yanzhou was not good, and even if he was just going against Jin Qingyu, he had no reason to send her, Jin Qingyu's ex-wife, away.
Jin Yanzhou was no longer the reckless person he was when he was confronting Jin Qingyu. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "Have you been in contact with Yingying during this time?"
"Who? Sister Shen Ying?" Jiang Xingyao feigned confusion.
Jin Yanzhou nodded and said, "You should know that she's my girlfriend, right?"
He didn't keep Jiang Xingyao in suspense and revealed the truth directly.
A hint of embarrassment flashed across Jiang Xingyao's face before she asked, "Why did you suddenly ask that, brother?"
Jin Yanzhou asked, "Has Yingying said anything to you during this time?"
Jiang Xingyao thought of Shen Ying's sudden decision to develop her career in Hong Kong.
At that time, she suspected that there might be problems in the relationship between Shen Ying and Jin Yanzhou.
Now it seems that this was indeed the case.
Jiang Xingyao shook her head: "No, as my brother knows, I've been busy with the divorce lately, and if nothing unexpected happens, I should be going to Hong Kong tomorrow. I'm afraid I won't have a chance to see Sister Shen Ying for a while."
She deliberately revealed her itinerary to prevent Jin Yanzhou from trying to find out about Shen Ying from her.
In her opinion, no matter what the reason, Jin Yanzhou had a problem if he didn't bring Shen Ying into the public eye when he was dating.
Of course, she wouldn't help Jin Yanzhou with anything.
Old Liu quickly drove over, and Jiang Xingyao got in the car. Through the rearview mirror, she could see that Jin Yanzhou was still standing in the same spot.
