Chapter 26 Are you going to drive Secretary Jiang to her death?
When Jiang Xingyao came out, Jin Qingyu was standing in the yard making a phone call.
He held a cigarette between his fingers, unlit, flicking it lightly. He seemed a little irritable, but still tried to soothe people gently.
The sentence Jiang Xingyao heard most clearly was, "Don't cry, I'm coming right away."
She knew without even thinking who he could say such a thing to.
The man hung up the phone quickly. When he turned around and saw Jiang Xingyao, he seemed to be stunned for a moment.
Jiang Xingyao pretended not to hear his call and said, "Grandpa asked us to stay for lunch."
Jin Qingyu shifted his feet. He looked at Jiang Xingyao, and Jiang Xingyao looked back at him. After a brief silence, Jiang Xingyao heard him ask, "Are you really going to drive Secretary Jiang to her death?"
One sentence was like a knife, piercing Jiang Xingyao's heart.
He made no attempt to hide it, practically telling Jiang Xingyao that he was in a hurry to find Jiang Cancan.
He left in a hurry without even waiting for Jiang Xingyao to speak.
As Jiang Xingyao watched his retreating figure, her heart felt heavy, as if she couldn't breathe.
He knew perfectly well that Jin Manchuan and Jin Yanzhou were watching the couple today.
But he still left, abandoning Jiang Cancan alone in the old house.
A self-deprecating smile appeared on Jiang Xingyao's lips.
In front of her and everyone else, the old man did his best to protect Jin Qingyu.
It was all to help Jin Qingyu secure his position as president.
For this reason, the old man even went so far as to personally intervene to prevent her from divorcing Jin Qingyu.
But does Jin Qingyu really care about all of this?
He doesn't care.
He knew the situation at the old house perfectly well, but he could still drop everything and rush over at the slightest phone call from Jiang Cancan.
"Gone again?" A faint female voice came from behind Jiang Xingyao while she was lost in thought.
She turned around and saw Han Hui standing beside her, her face showing complete understanding.
Jiang Xingyao was reluctant to have contact with Jin Manchuan's family.
She didn't respond, and Han Hui continued, "You just let him go out and find someone else, and do nothing at all?"
Her words were a bit strange.
Jiang Xingyao turned to look at her and met the woman's eyes, which seemed to be filled with coldness.
“I don’t understand what Auntie means,” Jiang Xingyao said.
Han Hui smiled and said, "Do you know why he left? It's because you weren't ruthless enough. Men are always cheap, especially the men from the Jin family."
Only if we are ruthless enough will he not dare to cheat.
She placed her hand on Jiang Xingyao's shoulder, and a rich rose fragrance almost enveloped Jiang Xingyao.
Jiang Xingyao wasn't used to interacting with her.
This should be the first time she has had physical contact with her nominal mother-in-law since marrying into the Jin family.
She recalled the time she bumped into Han Hui at the mall. Han Hui had given her a strange feeling then, and now that feeling was even more pronounced.
Jiang Xingyao couldn't respond to her words.
Han Hui added, "As a person, especially as a woman, don't have such high moral standards. Actually..."
"Yaoyao, the old man is calling you." Aunt Jin's voice rang out, interrupting Han Hui's unfinished words.
She walked over and asked, "Sister-in-law, what were you and Yao Yao talking about?"
Han Hui glanced at her and said, "It's none of your business."
She stretched and, ignoring what Aunt Jin thought, walked with a somewhat lazy gait to the rocking chair in front of the flower vines and sat down.
Aunt Jin glanced at her, then led Jiang Xingyao back into the house. She asked again, "Did your sister-in-law say anything to you?"
"No," Jiang Xingyao said. "Second Aunt seems very worried?"
Aunt Jin turned around cautiously and saw that Han Hui was still sitting in the rocking chair. Then she leaned closer to Jiang Xingyao and whispered, "She's been acting strangely these past few years. She always does some crazy things that are hard to understand. Unless it's absolutely necessary, you'd better not have any contact with her."
At this point, Aunt Jin paused and added, "This was also the old man's wish."
Aunt Jin was always very cautious; even though she was in her own home, she seemed very wary.
Her attitude made Jiang Xingyao feel a chill run down her spine for no reason, as if a cold air was rising from the soles of her feet.
Han Hui is acting strangely in this house, something Jiang Xingyao noticed long ago.
Logically speaking, Jin Qingyu is Jin Manchuan's illegitimate son.
When they see Jin Qingyu, Han Hui should be the one who is most angry, but she never shows any anger. On the contrary, Jin Manchuan and Jin Yanzhou are always picking on Jin Qingyu.
At the dinner table, she always remained silent, like a ghost.
Jiang Xingyao thought about it carefully, and it seemed that before the news of her and Jin Qingyu's marital breakdown came out, she didn't remember what Han Hui's voice sounded like.
In just a few days, Han Hui has already taken the initiative to talk to her twice.
Last time at the mall, she thought Han Hui was urging her to divorce Jin Qingyu to make room for Jin Yanzhou, but today it clearly didn't seem like that.
Jiang Xingyao didn't respond, but Aunt Jin kept swallowing, looking like she wanted to say something but couldn't.
But she didn't say anything more until she brought Jiang Xingyao to the old man's study.
Jiang Xingyao was almost certain that Han Hui had a secret.
However, she was going to leave the Jin family sooner or later, so she wasn't particularly curious about such secrets.
The old man talked to Jiang Xingyao for an hour, repeatedly advising her not to get a divorce.
Jiang Xingyao looked listless the whole time, and the old man could tell that she was distracted. In the end, he told her to think about it carefully.
She also asked Jin Ershen's daughter, Jin Qingyu's cousin Jin Yuanqiu, to go to Xiyuan to keep her company.
The second branch of the Jin family only had Aunt Jin and Jin Yuanqiu left. They had no intention of fighting for the family property and always obeyed the old man's orders.
Jiang Xingyao also knew that the master wanted Jin Yuanqiu, who was about the same age as her, to act as an intermediary.
At lunchtime, the group wasn't as full; not only was Jin Qingyu absent, but Jin Yanzhou hadn't returned either.
Before dinner, the old man called Jin Qingyu, but couldn't get through.
In the end, he just gave Jiang Xingyao a vague answer, saying that Jin Qingyu was busy.
What was he busy with? The old man couldn't say, but Jiang Xingyao knew he was busy coaxing Jiang Cancan.
After a hasty lunch, the old man had the driver take Jiang Xingyao back to Xiyuan.
Lin Ma was drying dried fruit in the yard. When she saw Jiang Xingyao, she called out "Madam" in a slightly strange tone.
During this period of time, Jiang Xingyao and Lin's mother have been getting along well on the surface.
Seeing that Lin Ma's expression was really strange, she couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong?"
Lin Ma was a little awkward, but still said, "Madam, please go and see for yourself."
Jiang Xingyao didn't ask any more questions until she pushed open the door, at which point she understood why Lin Ma was acting so strangely today.
Jiang Cancan was sitting on the sofa, her eyes red, looking very aggrieved.
Jin Qingyu was pouring her water.
This scene almost perfectly mirrored the rainy night just two days prior.
Jiang Xingyao's lips twitched, and she sneered, "Oh, so you've brought someone home? May I ask, Mr. Jin, is it possible for me, Mrs. Jin, to step down?"
"Sister, I'm sorry, I..."
Jiang Cancan, her eyes red, was about to explain when Jin Qingyu patted her shoulder reassuringly: "Don't be afraid, I'll talk to her."
Jiang Xingyao watched as her husband defended her sister in front of her.
She asked, "What does Mr. Jin want to say to me?"
She crossed her arms and looked at Jiang Cancan with cold and mocking eyes, as if she were looking at a clown.
Jin Qingyu frowned deeply: "You scared her."
His words made Jiang Xingyao want to laugh.
Jiang Xingyao said, "If you're going to protect me so tightly, then don't bring me here. President Jin should know that I'm not good at saying nice things."
Jin Qingyu frowned even more deeply. He walked over, grabbed Jiang Xingyao's hand, and pulled her upstairs, dragging her directly into the bedroom. With a bang, the door closed, and Jiang Xingyao heard him ask the same question he had asked in the old house.
He said, "Jiang Xingyao, are you only satisfied when you've driven Secretary Jiang to her death?"
"How did I force her?" Jiang Xingyao asked. "Just because Grandpa wanted to expel her? Does that mean I forced her to her death?"
Why doesn't Mr. Jin ask himself first why his grandfather made such a decision?
At the charity gala, you and your secretary wore matching outfits, leaving me, Mrs. Jin, out of the picture. Did you think these grandfathers couldn't see that?
Since you're so heartbroken, I advise you to divorce me quickly and make her your legal wife.
A hint of impatience flashed across Jin Qingyu's face: "What couple outfits? Don't use this as an excuse to change the subject."
Jiang Xingyao, I've told you many times, Secretary Jiang is just a secretary, she can't shake your position as Mrs. Jin, so why won't you let her go?
At the charity gala, wasn't it enough that you let your dad beat her in front of so many people? Now you want your dad to force her to marry an old man.
"She's still your sister, how could you be so ruthless?"
Even Jiang Xingyao was somewhat shocked when she heard Jin Qingyu's words.
She did indeed instigate Jiang Yuncheng and Jiang Cancan to fight like dogs, but she never expected that Jiang Yuncheng would be so ruthless this time? He actually wanted to marry Jiang Cancan off directly.
It seems the company's situation is indeed not optimistic, otherwise Jiang Yuncheng wouldn't be in such a hurry to ask her for shares.
She needs to find her mother's whereabouts as soon as possible.
“Speak, Jiang Xingyao, are you only satisfied when you’ve driven Secretary Jiang to her death?” Jin Qingyu asked again.
His eyes were cold and deep, as if he wanted to stare a hole through Jiang Xingyao's face.
Jiang Xingyao did not deny it: "If you feel sorry for me, then sign the divorce agreement."
“I won’t sign it,” Jin Qingyu said, giving Jiang Xingyao a deep look. “Your father has been pressuring Secretary Jiang to get married lately, so she’ll be staying at Xiyuan for the time being. I’ll give her a ride to the company. If you have any objections, just tell your father to let Secretary Jiang go.”
He made the decision directly, ignoring Jiang Xingyao's reaction, and opened the door to leave.
Jiang Xingyao stood there, feeling as if she had been slapped across the face.
She asked, "Are you sure you want her to move in?"
