Chapter 14 She never understood Jin Qingyu
The living room of the studio apartment wasn't very big.
Four people sat facing each other in front of the coffee table.
Ji Yunyin, her face full of vigilance, pulled Jiang Xingyao into her arms and looked at Qin Jiangnan with an annoyance, saying, "Why did you bring him here?"
Qin Jiangnan spread his hands, looking somewhat helpless.
He didn't want to, but who knew that Brother Qingyu would suddenly turn around and launch a surprise attack.
Even though he was on the same side as Jin Qingyu, for some reason he felt guilty when facing Jiang Xingyao on the other side.
“Traitor.” Ji Yunyin muttered under her breath, then turned to Jin Qingyu. “Yaoyao has nothing to talk to you about. Mr. Jin, you should use this time to figure out how to get your father to agree to your marriage with Jiang Cancan. Don’t get involved with our Yaoyao.”
As she spoke, Ji Yunyin hugged Jiang Xingyao even tighter, just like a mother hen protecting her chicks.
The distance between the sofa and the coffee table was too small, and Jin Qingyu, with his long arms and legs, was obviously unable to stretch out comfortably. He adjusted his posture slightly and stared intently at Ji Yunyin's hand that was resting on Jiang Xingyao's waist.
“My business with Yaoyao is none of Miss Ji’s concern,” he said. “Yaoyao has been bothering Miss Ji here all this time. There are ten million in this card, consider it as the cost of Yaoyao’s stay.”
"Come on, Yaoyao, come home with me."
The card surface shimmered with a slight arc under the light.
The man extended his hand to Jiang Xingyao, the wedding ring on his ring finger gleaming coldly.
Ji Yunyin was almost amused by his matter-of-fact attitude.
She said, "Jin Qingyu, are you kidding me?"
You abandoned Yao Yao for your lover, and now you don't even apologize, yet you expect Yao Yao to go with you? What gives you the right?
Do you know what happened to her that day...?
"Yinyin, I want to talk to him." Jiang Xingyao was afraid that Ji Yunyin would impulsively reveal that she was pregnant, so she quickly interrupted Ji Yunyin.
She looked up; this was the first time she had made eye contact with Jin Qingyu since they first met.
"What's there to talk about with him?" Ji Yunyin was somewhat disapproving, but seeing Jiang Xingyao's determined gaze, she softened her tone. "Fine, let's just stay on the balcony. Don't leave my sight; I'm worried about you."
As she spoke, she glanced at Jiang Xingyao's lower abdomen with some concern.
On the balcony, through the transparent glass door, Ji Yunyin could see Jiang Xingyao's back, and Jiang Xingyao could also see Ji Yunyin by turning her head.
The glass door blocked out the sound but not the view, which calmed Jiang Xingyao's chaotic thoughts a little.
"Yaoyao..."
"Was it you who brought that divorce agreement to the old house?"
Jin Qingyu thought that Jiang Xingyao wouldn't speak on her own initiative.
Unexpectedly, she interrupted him as soon as he called her name.
The woman in front of me was wearing a pure white silk robe, her long, straight black hair was casually draped over her shoulders, and a few strands fell on her face, giving her a gentle look that was not usually seen.
It's only a little bit.
When she looked at him, her clear eyes flashed with a sharp edge, and that unusual gentleness completely vanished.
She said it as a question, but her tone was very confident.
"Did Grandpa tell you everything?" Jin Qingyu asked, his tone completely unsurprised, like a knife piercing Jiang Xingyao's heart.
"Since President Jin chose to do this, didn't you already know the outcome?" Jiang Xingyao retorted.
Jin Qingyu did not deny it: "This matter was originally meant for Grandpa to know. Now that it's about the divorce, Mrs. Jin should have an answer, right?"
Answer?
Jiang Xingyao's lips twitched.
Even breathing became a little difficult.
Even though she had guessed the outcome countless times over this period of time, hearing it from the person on the other end still sent a chill down her spine.
Even before coming to the balcony, she still held a sliver of hope, believing that she had accidentally brought the divorce agreement to the old house herself.
But now, the last fig leaf of this marriage has been torn away by the man himself, leaving Jiang Xingyao with nothing but self-mockery.
This is the person she has loved for eight years.
He was never honest with her from beginning to end, and even when it came to the divorce, he had to use her grandfather to manipulate her.
Even if he had his reasons, he could have told her himself, but he insisted on having his grandfather intervene, letting that so-called favor become a net that trapped her, eroding her pride and making it impossible for her to ever mention the word "divorce" again.
“Yaoyao, I’ve told you before, we haven’t reached the point where we absolutely have to get a divorce, and you can’t get a divorce anyway. Listen to me, come home with me,” Jin Qingyu said again.
He reached out his hand to Jiang Xingyao once again, the wedding ring on his ring finger dazzling her eyes, as if silently mocking her incompetence.
Jiang Xingyao looked at him and said, "Jin Qingyu, you are truly despicable and shameless."
The old man revealed the story behind the arranged marriage, thus elevating Jin Qingyu to a moral high ground.
Everyone saw how much determination Jin Qingyu had put in when he married her.
With this resolve, if she were to mention divorce, she would be seen as ungrateful and ungrateful.
It turns out that the moment she stepped into the Jin family in her wedding dress, she had already pushed herself out of the mire and into a cage.
“If Mrs. Jin thinks this will make you happy, you can scold me all you want. I have plenty of time. I’ll wait until you’re done and then come home with me.” Jin Qingyu’s eyes were deep and his emotions were unclear. He leaned lazily against the railing, playing with a lighter in his hand, and patiently watched Jiang Xingyao.
Jiang Xingyao said, "Jin Qingyu, aren't you afraid I'll cause a fight to the death?"
You know that you're dragging this out of the divorce process by using your gratitude to blackmail my conscience. What if I don't agree?
I can file for divorce. I have nothing to begin with, so I won't lose anything and will even get a large settlement. But you…”
“You won’t,” Jin Qingyu said. “You wouldn’t dare make the divorce a public spectacle.”
His almost certain words made Jiang Xingyao's face fall instantly.
Jiang Xingyao had to admit that the man in front of her had always known her weakness and had held onto it tightly, giving her no chance to turn the tables.
With a click, the lighter lit and then went out.
The flickering firelight reflected off Jiang Xingyao's face.
Jin Qingyu said, "If you don't want to be taken back by Jiang Yuncheng, being Mrs. Jin is your best guarantee."
Yao Yao, admit it, we're already bound together, you can't get a divorce.
I allow you to be willful, act foolishly, even throw a tantrum, but when you're done, come home with me right away.
Jiang Xingyao felt an endless sense of desolation enveloping her.
She can be heartless and insist on divorce.
But if Jin Qingyu is holding her back and disagrees, she really doesn't dare to directly file a lawsuit; she can't make things worse.
Her mother was still in Jiang Yuncheng's hands, and she dared not let Jiang Yuncheng know that her position in the Jin family was already precarious.
Jin Qingyu looked down at Jiang Xingyao.
He saw the woman's hand clench and unclench.
Seeing her eyes, which always seemed aloof and disdainful of everyone, flicker with a hint of red at the corners, yet she kept her lips tightly pressed together, stubbornly refusing to let a tear fall.
My fingertips feel a little itchy.
Jin Qingyu raised a finger and gently stroked the corner of her eye: "Have you thought it through? It's getting late, Miss Ji needs to rest, and Mrs. Jin wouldn't want me to keep bothering your friends, would she?"
“Jin Qingyu, you’re so despicable,” Jiang Xingyao said.
Jin Qingyu remained indifferent, as if he was waiting for her to finish cursing him and shut up.
Jiang Xingyao added, "I really feel sorry for Jiang Cancan. She's waited for you for so long, but she probably still doesn't know that you have no intention of getting a divorce at all."
He clings to her for the sake of inheritance, while simultaneously stringing Jiang Cancan along without giving her any official status. How despicable!
Jiang Xingyao wondered, how exactly had she been blinded by love before?
She fell in love with such a scumbag and loved him for eight years.
"What business is it of hers whether I want a divorce or not?" Jin Qingyu retorted, his fingers stroking Jiang Xingyao's long hair. "How have you considered it, Mrs. Jin?"
"Doesn't President Jin already know the answer? Why bother making me say it myself?" Jiang Xingyao asked.
She can't get through this marriage for the time being, that's the truth.
Now that things have come to this, she really can't let Jin Qingyu keep bothering Yin Yin.
“That’s right,” Jin Qingyu said, putting her hand on Jiang Xingyao’s shoulder. “Let’s go, Mrs. Jin, pack your things, let’s go home.”
He seemed to be in a good mood; you could hear the joy in his voice.
But Jiang Xingyao was in a bad mood.
The scent of ebony filled her nostrils. This was the scent that Jiang Xingyao had loved and looked forward to the most over the years, but now it only made her feel nauseous.
She subtly distanced herself from Jin Qingyu, but in her heart, she was plotting how to get a divorce.
It seems we'll have to ask someone else for help with this, like Jiang Cancan.
When Jiang Xingyao told Ji Yunyin that she wanted to go home, Ji Yunyin looked at her with a hint of disappointment.
At first, Ji Yunyin didn't want Jiang Xingyao to get a divorce because she knew what kind of quagmire the Jiang family was in.
But when Ji Yunyin saw that Jiang Xingyao was unhappy at the Jin family's house, she wholeheartedly supported her divorce.
But now…
“Yaoyao, are you really going back with him? Don’t forget how he treated you! Listen to me, we’re not going back,” Ji Yunyin said.
“Miss Ji, what are you saying? It’s normal for couples to have disagreements. My wife was just having a little tiff with me before, but now that she’s calmed down, she naturally wants to come home with me,” Jin Qingyu said.
Hearing his matter-of-fact words, Jiang Xingyao forcibly suppressed the urge to roll her eyes. She had never realized before that Jin Qingyu was so shameless.
Or perhaps, before the divorce proceedings began, Jin Qingyu had barely spoken a few words to her, and she had no idea what kind of person she had married.
From beginning to end, her impression of Jin Qingyu was one that had been idealized countless times by a young girl's mind.
"Yaoyao! Did she threaten you? Is there something you can't tell me?" Ji Yunyin asked anxiously.
Jiang Xingyao shook her head: "Yinyin, I've bothered you these past few days, I should go home now."
Jin Qingyu smiled and said, "Did you hear that, Miss Ji? This is Yao Yao's own idea."
He casually took Jiang Xingyao's hand, his fingertips gently caressing the base of her thumb, carrying an ambiguous and inexplicable feeling.
Jiang Xingyao felt inexplicably disgusted. She didn't want to see Yin Yin's disappointed look anymore, so she said coldly, "Can we leave now, Mr. Jin?"
