Chapter 478 A Tiny Figure

Yu Nanqing loosened his grip slightly, and the arrow in his hand slowly fell to the ground.

As he stepped forward, he was not followed by a large group of people, only Kobu and a few others from Tanaka.

Su Wanyan's expression brightened slightly, but she froze in a flash as she spotted the small figure wearing Yu Nanqing's outer robe, following closely behind him.

"Yan'er." Yu Nanqing naturally noticed the change in Su Wanyan's expression immediately. He stepped forward and gently took her hand, even through the barricade.

Su Wanyan didn't dwell on it for long, and said with a smile, "It's good that you're back. Have the bandits been wiped out?"

"What exactly is going on?"

At this moment, Tanaka stepped forward and announced, "The bandits have all been wiped out, the village is safe, everyone can rest assured."

"Huh? Eliminated? What do you mean?"

The villagers looked at each other in disbelief. They had waited here for so long, ready to fight the bandits, and now they were being told that the bandits had been wiped out. It all felt unreal, and they even felt like they had been tricked.

"Then all our preparations have been for nothing," one of the villagers said, frowning.

As soon as he finished speaking, he was immediately rebuked: "What nonsense are you talking about? Isn't it good as it is now? Are you really going to be happy only when the bandits come and plunder the village?"

That's not what I meant.

Xiao Bu then bowed and said, "The bandits have indeed been eliminated, but we haven't dealt with their hideout yet. If you don't believe me, you can go up the mountain to check it out tomorrow morning."

Upon hearing this, the crowd looked at each other, and finally the village chief put down his crossbow: "Alright, Young Master Yu said the bandits have been wiped out, so everyone doesn't need to guard anymore. Go back and send someone to call the women and children back."

When the village chief spoke, everyone fell silent for a moment.

Until the village chief ordered again, "Hurry up and go, do you really want to fight the bandits to the death?"

Actually, he didn't know what was going on, but he wasn't stupid. He had seen so many torches halfway up the mountain. If they weren't bandits, then they must be Yu Nanqing's men.

He can lead so many men all by himself; if he's not a government official, then he must be a high-ranking official in the imperial court.

From the moment Yu Nanqing and Su Wanyan entered the village, he noticed that they were dressed in extraordinary clothes, and during the two weeks they lived in the village, their words and actions were unlike those of ordinary people.

Their ability to quell the bandits was a tremendous favor to the entire village.

When the village chief said this, the villagers said "yes" and turned to leave one after another.

The group worked up a huff to move the barricade, and Su Wanyan tightened her grip on Yu Nanqing's hand: "Are you alright?"

The torches obscured Yu Nanqing's expression as he turned to the village chief and said, "Village chief, this was rescued from bandits. Could you arrange a place for him to stay?"

Before the words were even finished, the woman, who was wrapped tightly from head to toe in an outer robe, tremblingly stretched out her small, red, frozen hand and clutched his robe tightly: "Nan... Brother Nanqing, I... I'm scared..."

Su Wanyan raised an eyebrow slightly, her expression showing a hint of surprise.

Because Yu Nanqing did not brush it away immediately.

He frowned and said, "We'll talk about it tomorrow."

"Tanaka," he called out, "take him away."

"yes."

The woman trembled for a moment before timidly letting go and following Tanaka away.

Arranging a place to stay was not difficult; the village chief immediately set about having someone prepare an unused room for her.

The women and children who had planned to seek refuge in the mountains were called back halfway there.

No one knew what had happened yet. The candles in the entire village remained lit until the middle of the night, and everyone was asking about what had happened that night.

Although Yu Nanqing said that the bandits had been eliminated, the village chief was still a little worried and arranged for several villagers to stay at the village entrance to take turns keeping watch at night.

While everyone else went home to their own families, the village chief remained at Su Wanyan's residence.

On the first floor, Yu Nanqing was explaining to the village chief what had happened that night. Of course, he concealed his and Su Wanyan's identities, and only briefly mentioned how the bandits were wiped out.

The village chief wanted to ask more detailed questions, but when he thought about the person sitting opposite him who might be someone of high status and power, he swallowed the words that were already on the tip of his tongue.

Upstairs, Su Wanyan was still awake, passing the time by reading a comic book by candlelight.

When she heard footsteps on the stairs, she slowly raised her eyes and saw that tall, slender figure through the beaded curtain. The shadow on the wall made his figure look even longer.

After removing his outer robe, Yu Nanqing wore a narrow-sleeved, misty white brocade robe, with a cloud-patterned brocade belt inlaid with jade around his waist. His white boots were soaked in snow, leaving faint imprints on the wooden floor.

"Yan'er." Yu Nanqing called out, bringing Su Wanyan back to her senses.

She put down her book, got up, and pulled Yu Nanqing to sit down on the bedside. She reached out to untie his belt.

Yu Nanqing quickly raised her hand to stop her: "I can do it myself."

Su Wanyan brushed his hand away: "Alright, don't move."

She helped him remove his clothes and then reached out to help him take off his shoes.

Just as she was about to take off Yu Nanqing's socks, Yu Nanqing grabbed her hand and lifted her up with a slight effort: "Yan'er, you don't need to do these things for me, I can do them myself."

The warm and deep voice immediately touched the softest part of Su Wanyan's heart.

She restrained her thoughts and said, "Fine, I was thinking you'd be tired tonight, so I'd take care of you, but I didn't expect you to be so ungrateful."

Even though that's what I said, I still washed a towel for him and threw it in his hand: "Dry yourself off before going to bed."

As he spoke, he climbed into bed, lifted the covers, and lay down, giving off an impression of abandoning everything.

Upon seeing this, Yu Nanqing couldn't help but curl his lips, but the next second, he raised his hand and smelled it.

I wonder if there's any unpleasant smell left behind. Thinking of the bloody scene in that little wooden house, Yu Nanqing sniffed more carefully. Maybe she should take a bath...

"It doesn't smell, don't smell it." Su Wanyan saw Yu Nanqing's actions clearly and found it amusing: "But you've caught quite a bit of cold air, hurry up and wipe yourself clean and get into bed."

Upon hearing this, Yu Nanqing quickly washed himself, lifted the covers and lay down in bed, wrapping his arms around Su Wanyan's slender waist.

A warm feeling seemed to envelop him, making him greedily tighten his grip.

"Yan'er...why don't you ask anything?" With the lingering fragrance of her black hair, Yu Nanqing asked cautiously. In the quiet of the night, even her words were filled with tenderness and affection.

"Can you handle this?" Su Wanyan was actually very sleepy; she had only been on the bed for a short while when she started to feel drowsy.

Yu Nanqing's heart trembled slightly, and he tightened his grip on Su Wanyan's arm: "Mmm."
