Chapter 3 Yu Nanqing, Half-Dead

This is the Prince's mansion; whether she lives or dies is entirely up to him.

But as soon as she said it, she felt it was ridiculous. Rumors said he was violent and took pleasure in torturing people, so how could she possibly have a chance to live?

Either choose an opportune moment to end it yourself, which is better than being tortured to the point of wishing for death.

But she didn't dare to commit suicide.

She suddenly admired the original owner's courage, hanging herself with a white silk ribbon without hesitation.

Thinking of this, Su Wanyan's expression grew increasingly dejected; she didn't even know if she could ever return to the modern world after she died...

Looking at Su Wanyan's dejected face, Yu Nanqing remained silent for a long time before asking, "Su Muqing?"

Su Wanyan sighed dejectedly, "My name is Su Wanyan. I am an illegitimate child in this household. Su Muqing is my elder sister. My father adopted me into my mother's family so that I could marry into the royal family in place of my elder sister..."

Su Wanyan is a modern person and does not have the concept of distinction between legitimate and illegitimate children, but in order to explain the reason, she still distinguishes herself from Su Muqing when she speaks.

At this point, Su Wanyan almost cried. This was a crime of deceiving the emperor, a crime compounded by a double penalty, and she certainly wouldn't survive.

Yu Nanqing's eyes flickered with a dark light. Suddenly, with a loud "bang," the door was flung open, and a group of soldiers rushed in, carrying spears and heading straight for the bed.

The leader gripped the sword at his waist, his face stern: "Your Highness, the Princess Consort committed murder, her actions are extremely heinous. I was only acting under orders, and I hope Your Highness will not make things difficult for me."

Su Wanyan's heart was in her throat.

Just when she thought Yu Nanqing was going to hand her over, she suddenly felt a tightness around her waist and was pulled into Yu Nanqing's arms. His hoarse voice was cold: "Who did you kill? And whose orders were you following?"

The leader was taken aback for a moment, but still reported, "The person the Princess killed was a palace guard, who was sent by the Emperor to assist the Prince in his wedding. We never expected the Princess to..."

"Today is my wedding day. Who do you think will marry the princess?" Yu Nanqing asked in a deep voice.

The leader frowned. Yu Nanqing's words were clear: today was his wedding day, and only he could be the one to perform the wedding ceremony with Su Wanyan. Anyone who helped him get married, whether they existed or not, could only die!

"His Majesty is also worried about the Prince."

"The princess is right beside me right now. Anyone who dares to move will die!" Although his breath was weak, his words were filled with ruthless killing intent.

Su Wanyan's heart pounded, and she lay on Yu Nanqing, not daring to move. Was he... trying to protect her?

Does this mean she doesn't have to die?

The lantern's faint light was insufficient to illuminate the room. Yu Nanqing's eyes gleamed with a sinister light. The leader gripped the hilt of his sword tightly, but in the face of confrontation, he finally succumbed and bowed respectfully: "I will report today's events to His Majesty truthfully."

After saying that, he waved his hand and said, "Withdraw!"

At a command, the people who had rushed into the house immediately retreated like a receding tide.

"Cough cough cough..." As soon as he stepped out, Yu Nanqing started coughing violently again, with blood gushing out of his mouth as if it were free.

Su Wanyan quickly climbed out of his arms: "Are you alright? Do you have some serious illness?"

After saying that, he felt it was unnecessary; he was paralyzed in bed, so he must have a serious illness.

As she spoke, she grabbed her wide sleeve to wipe him, but Yu Nanqing slapped her away, his gaze turning cold as he stared at her: "Get out! From now on... you are not allowed to step into this courtyard again..."

Before he could finish speaking, he fainted.

"..." Su Wanyan tentatively called out, "Your Highness?"

Yu Nanqing remained motionless.

"Could he be dead?" Su Wanyan muttered to herself, reaching out to check Yu Nanqing's neck. He still had a pulse, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

This great Buddha had just protected her a second ago; if he were to ascend to paradise the next, she would definitely be accused of plotting to murder the prince, and she would be the headline of the entire capital tomorrow.

By the moonlight streaming through the window, Su Wanyan could barely make out Yu Nanqing's outline. Remembering how badly he had vomited blood, she turned his head to one side to prevent him from choking on his own vomit.

Feeling a stale, foul odor emanating from the bed, Su Wanyan belatedly had a bad feeling. She couldn't help but pull back the blanket covering Yu Nanqing, and a pungent smell immediately rushed into her nostrils.

Su Wanyan couldn't help but immediately cover her nose: "Oh my god."

She was too nervous to notice much just now, but now she realized that the bed was covered in filth, some dried and some still wet, with the smells mixed together, making Yu Nanqing feel quite intoxicated.

Isn't he a prince?

Even if he is paralyzed, he should still have servants to clean and take care of him.

Upon reflection, he understood. It must be that Yu Nanqing was paralyzed in bed and didn't want others to see him in such a shameful state, which caused him to become increasingly irritable and kill all the maids who came in.

Otherwise, why did he keep trying to drive her away?

Thinking of this, Su Wanyan trembled. What if he suddenly changed his mind when he woke up and wanted to take her life?

After all, the prince was rumored to have an unpredictable temperament.

But he just protected her, and even if he runs now, there's no guarantee he won't be caught again.

After some internal struggle, Su Wanyan decided to take it one step at a time. She covered her nose and got out of bed, first opening all the windows around the room.

It's early autumn now, and the breeze blowing in is not only not cold, but also very comfortable.

Once the doors and windows were opened, the light inside became brighter.

By the moonlight, Su Wanyan finally saw Yu Nanqing's appearance clearly. He was as thin as a sheet of paper, and his white undergarments were stained with filth.

Perhaps it was the moonlight, but his face looked paler than a corpse, and his gaunt cheeks made his already high nose appear even more prominent.

Her beautiful, thin lips were stained with blood, creating a stark contrast with her deathly pale face.

He lay there quietly with his eyes closed, exuding a tragic beauty that was completely different from the chilling and ferocious aura he had just displayed.

If he hadn't just been so lively, Su Wanyan would have really thought he was dead.

She couldn't help but mutter to herself, "Tsk tsk, he's supposed to be a prince, how could he torment himself like this?"

She remembered that when she ran in just now, there was a small bridge in the front yard, with running water flowing under the bridge and a waterwheel turning.

There were no maids in the courtyard, so she had to do it herself. She found a basin in the room, filled it with water from under the small bridge, and then went to the bedside, tearing off a piece of her clothing and soaking it in the water.

Su Wanyan rolled up her wide sleeves, stepped forward, and, enduring the smell, stripped Yu Nanqing naked.

Seeing him lying naked on the bed, Su Wanyan couldn't help but blush. She had only seen cadavers at school; she had never met a real person before.

Fortunately, she had a strong mentality and quickly calmed down.
