Chapter 80: Intercession

Ling Chuan has always given people the impression of being calm, reserved, and taking the overall situation into consideration. This was the first time that Wang Junyuan discovered that this man had a ruthless side, and he was shocked for a moment.

The people above just asked him to find a reason to kick Ling Chuan out, but if the matter got out of hand and affected the construction schedule of the entire construction site and even the future sales of the houses, the people above would definitely hold him accountable.

Seeing that Wang Junyuan was feeling guilty, Ling Chuan approached him again and said in a voice that only the two of them could hear: "Compared to you colluding with the construction company and mixing stone powder and sea sand into concrete, my few pieces of wire are nothing. Guess who will die more miserably when the time comes?"

Wang Junyuan looked horrified, "How did you know that?"

"If you don't want people to know, then don't do it."

"You, let me go first!"

Ling Chuan obediently let go of his hand and took the initiative to help the other party straighten his wrinkled collar. "Manager Wang, I will go back and ask them to pack their luggage. We will leave after we get the money this afternoon. Please tell the finance department."

After saying that, Ling Chuan turned and left the office.

Coming out of the office and looking at the workers working hard on the construction site, Ling Chuan's mood was not as relaxed as it seemed.

Each of these workers has a family to support. If they lose their job, their family’s source of income will be cut off.

Ling Chuan did not immediately go to the construction site to tell everyone the "bad news", but turned around and went to the grocery store.

"Boss, give me some red plums."

"One?"

"Um."

The grocery store owner smiled, took out a red plum from his pocket and handed one to Lingchuan.

Ling Chuan handed over fifty cents, and the boss waved his hand, "Forget it, it's your treat."

Ling Chuan put the money directly on the counter, borrowed a lighter from the boss, and lit a cigarette.

Seeing him squatting at the door of the grocery store smoking silently, the boss kindly took out a small stool and handed it to him.

"Thank you." Ling Chuan took the bench and stuffed it under his butt without any hesitation.

The boss chatted with him while sorting small commodities on the shelf at the door.

"Why, are you worried?"

"Um."

Seeing that he didn't want to elaborate, the boss didn't ask any more questions. He just asked him if he wanted another cigarette when he was almost finished.

"No."

Ling Chuan waved his hand, but subconsciously glanced at the phone on the counter.

I don't know what she is doing at home now.

After calming down and feeling better, Ling Chuan quickly returned to the construction site and briefly explained what had happened.

"I've already made an agreement with Manager Wang that I'll leave after I get paid this afternoon. Everyone, put down your work and go back to the shed to pack up your things."

Everyone stood there motionless, apparently still not recovering from the shock of suddenly losing their jobs.

"Brother Chuan, is there no room for reversal in this matter?"

"How about we all chip in some money and ask Manager Wang for help?"

Ling Chuan could understand everyone's feelings very well. Everyone had several mouths to feed and depended on this job for their livelihood. Now that they had lost their jobs, the whole family would go hungry.

Looking at his co-workers' faces that were confused and at a loss yet full of hope, Ling Chuan felt as if a heavy rock was pressing on his heart.

"Are you still packing up?"

Ling Chuan was silent for two seconds. "Pack up first. If you can't stay, I promise to find new jobs for you as soon as possible."

Hearing this, the workers all put down their work.

After everyone left the construction site, Ling Jiang came over anxiously, "Chuanzi, what's going on? The wire we use is always from the warehouse, and we never go out, so how could ordinary black wire get in?"

Ling Chuan looked at his eldest brother solemnly, "Just because we didn't go out doesn't mean others can't take it in."

Ling Jiang was stunned for a long time before he came to his senses. "You mean, Manager Wang deliberately framed us? Why? We have paid him what we should have paid."

It is an unwritten rule to give bribes to the person in charge when working on a construction site, and Lingchuan is no exception.

Almost 10% of their wages will go into Wang Junyuan's personal pocket.

But even so, Mr. Wang sold him without blinking an eye, which only shows one thing.

Either other people gave more, or that was the intention of the superiors.

If it was the former, then he had nothing to say. One percent was already high enough. If it was any higher, then there was no need for him to continue working here.

If it is the latter, then he has offended someone.

Ling Chuan didn't think any further, "Brother, go back to the shed and pack your things first. I'll go talk to the guy named Wang and see if we can keep the others here so we can go alone."

Ling Jiang nodded in a daze, "Okay, Chuanzi, be careful. You can find another job if you lose it, and you can earn money again if you lose it. Don't be impulsive. Think about your brother and sister-in-law at home. What will happen to them if something happens to you?"

If something really happened to him, would she worry about him?

Looking at the construction site with smoke and dust billowing in the distance, Lingchuan couldn't help but think.

After learning about Ling Chuan's purpose, Wang Junyuan pretended to take the opportunity for a while, until Ling Chuan gave in and said a few nice words, then he reluctantly agreed to let the other workers stay.

In fact, it was much easier for Wang Junyuan since the workers could stay and continue working.

The boss's intention was just to kick Ling Chuan out. If Ling Chuan took all his workers away, he would have to find a new batch. If the construction period was delayed, he would be the one to be blamed.

From Wang Junyuan's attitude in agreeing to keep the workers, Ling Chuan could be sure that he had indeed offended someone.

So, all he needs to do is leave.

Ling Chuan was a little hesitant about whether to keep his elder brother Ling Jiang behind, but when he thought about his elder brother's honest and dull character, and the fact that he might even help count money after being sold, he felt uneasy and decided to take him back to Jiang City with him.

"Chuanzi, how was your talk with Manager Wang?"

As soon as Ling Chuan returned to the shed, Ling Jiang couldn't wait to greet him.

Hearing Ling Jiang's question, the other workers also looked over eagerly.

Ling Chuan did not keep the secret and announced directly: "I have already made an agreement with Manager Wang. You guys stay and continue working on it."

"Very good!"

There was a cheer in the shed, and looking at everyone's happy faces, Ling Chuan couldn't help but reveal a relaxed smile on his face.

Ling Jiang, however, was not happy and went outside the shed to smoke his pipe.
