Qiao Wanwan took a quick shower and changed her clothes. When she came out of the bathroom, her steps were unsteady.
Zhan Jingting picked something up from the dining table. "Wanwan, come and eat the bird's nest soup, then get a good night's sleep."
Qiao Wanwan walked over. "I want to eat, but I can't sleep. What if something happens to me while I'm asleep?"
"I've arranged for people to keep watch around the clock. They'll call you immediately if anything happens." Zhan Jingting held her hand. "Wanwan, don't put too much pressure on yourself. You must eat well and rest well so you can be someone she can rely on."
Qiao Wanwan sat down at the dining table, picked up a bowl and spoon, and began feeding herself spoonful by spoonful.
"Have some of this." Zhan Jingting handed her breakfast. "Eat your fill and then go to sleep peacefully. I'll stay here with you."
Qiao Wanwan's nose tingled, and tears fell directly into the bowl.
"Wanwan." Zhan Jingting raised his hand and touched the top of her head. "Don't be afraid."
Qiao Wanwan sniffed and continued drinking the bird's nest soup, finishing all the food Zhan Jingting had given her as a wedding gift.
She forced herself to stay awake, not intending to go to sleep, but for some reason, waves of drowsiness kept washing over her.
Qiao Wanwan couldn't resist her sleepiness and fell asleep right there on the table.
Zhan Jingting turned and glanced at Jiang Dong, who quickly nodded and went out to guard the door.
The man stood up from the wheelchair, picked Qiao Wanwan up horizontally, and carefully placed her on the bed.
He tucked her in, wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye, and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "Wanwan, I'm here, and I always will be..."
