Chapter 126 You may not feel sorry for him, but I do.

Caught off guard, Wei Zhenghong was pulled so hard that he stumbled and almost fell to the ground.

If there weren't so many people around, he would have shaken off Ning's hand on the spot.

What do you want to do?

He lowered his voice and asked through gritted teeth.

Ning Shi didn't say a word, but dragged him outside until they reached the front gate before stopping.

After standing still, she looked coldly at Wei Zhenghong.

"Yan'er has suffered such a huge blow, can't you feel sorry for him and say less?"

"He acted recklessly and willfully, and he even lost his arm. Can't I say anything to him?"

Wei Zhenghong looked displeased.

“Every time I criticize him, you defend him. He is where he is today because you spoiled him. No wonder people say that children shouldn't be raised by women.”

Upon hearing his words, Ning's anger, which was already at three-tenths, instantly soared to twelve-tenths.

"Who exactly caused Yan'er's upbringing by a woman?"

"If someone hadn't poisoned me while I was six months pregnant, would he have been born so weak and frail?"

"If he were healthy, would he need to lie in bed all day, enduring the torment of illness while envying you for teaching Wei Teng martial arts and calligraphy?"

"Wei Zhenghong, do you dare to calculate how many days you've actually spent with Yan'er over the years?"

"Ten days? I'm afraid it won't even be ten hours!"

Ning pointed at Wei Zhenghong's nose and started cursing.

"But what about Wei Teng? You're inseparable from him for 300 out of 365 days a year."

"It's one thing that you don't accompany Yan'er, but the first thing you do when you see him is criticize him, belittle him to praise Wei Teng, and say that he is inferior in this way and that way."

"When you said those things, did you consider Yan'er's feelings? No! You only ever had your eldest son in your eyes, never your second son."

"Why did Yan'er leave the Wei family army and go to the firearms camp to study such dangerous things? Do you really not understand or are you pretending not to understand?"

Ning vented all the resentment that had been building up in her heart for years in one go.

She was so excited that her heart was pounding so hard that she felt a little uncomfortable, but even so, she insisted on finishing what she was saying.

"Since you look down on Yan'er, then get back to your residence and stop bashing my son here!"

"You may not feel sorry for him, but I do!"

After saying that, she pushed Wei Zhenghong out the door with all her might, then closed the door and bolted it, leaning against the door to calm herself down.

Wei Zhenghong was so bewildered by the scolding that he didn't come to his senses until he was pushed out the door.

He stared in astonishment at the closed door, finding it hard to believe that Ning had just yelled at him like a shrew.

She has always been gentle and compliant. In all the years of their marriage, she has never argued with him. Even when she found out that he had gone to Aunt Chang's place, she only ignored him for a few days.

Never before have they pointed their fingers at him and started cursing like this.

He just said something casually, why is she so agitated?

If it weren't for her outburst, he wouldn't have known that beneath her calm exterior lay so much resentment.

To say that he only has eyes for his eldest son and not his second son is truly unreasonable.

He didn't intentionally avoid spending time with Yan'er. He was busy with military affairs and rarely home, so how could he spend time with him?

As for Teng'er, he had longed for the military camp since he was a child. Before he was even knee-high, he begged to go to the camp. He just took him along casually.

They were all in the camp, so they naturally spent a lot of time together. How could that be considered favoritism?

This is utterly incomprehensible.

Wei Zhenghong was furious and wished he could climb over the wall and confront Ning Shi face to face.

But when he thought of Wei Yan's miserable appearance, he gave up the idea.

Well, it's understandable that Madam Ning is upset about Yan'er's injuries and wants to vent.

He decided not to argue with her.

"Are you going back tonight?" he asked calmly, "or staying here to take care of Yan'er?"

"Stay here."

Ning said calmly.

"Okay, I'll head back now and come see him again tomorrow."

After Wei Zhenghong finished speaking, he left the Yun residence.

Ning composed herself and went back to the main room.

Yun Shu is feeding Wei Yan.

Ning looked at Zi Mo, who was waiting to the side, and asked in confusion, "Why aren't you serving the young master?"

She brought Zi Mo, who usually served Wei Yan personally, with her when she came, so that he could take care of Wei Yan.

Before Zi Mo could answer, Yun Shu laughed and said, "I stole his job."

Wei Yan hadn't been able to muster the energy to eat, and Yun Shu couldn't bear to see it, so she took the rice bowl and threatened him that if he refused to eat, she would force him to eat.

Wei Yan then opened his mouth.

No one knows a child better than their mother. Ning Shi quickly realized what was going on.

"Thanks a lot."

"You are welcome."

As Yun Shu spoke, she fed Wei Yan another spoonful of food.

Wei Yan frowned, looking reluctant, but did not refuse Yun Shu's offer to feed him.

Ning sighed inwardly.

Previously, in order to help Yun Shu out of a predicament, Yan'er suggested pretending that the two were already engaged. She had a vague feeling that this child probably had some feelings for Yun Shu, but he himself was unaware of it.

She didn't reveal the truth; their family backgrounds were vastly different, and the old lady and Wei Zhenghong would definitely not agree.

She secretly hoped that Wei Yan could marry a wife of higher status, otherwise he would be overshadowed by Wei Teng again.

Who knew... that even the Yun family might not look down on Yan'er now.

The more she thought about it, the sadder she became. She couldn't understand how her son could end up like this after she had done good deeds for half her life.

Why are the lives of that mother and son so miserable?

After eating and taking his medicine, Wei Yan fell into a deep sleep again.

Ning and her maidservants kept watch over him at night.
