Wei Yan has been looking gloomy these past few days.
After taking Dr. Gou's prescription, my mother not only did not improve, but also coughed up blood several times.
He couldn't eat, and was only kept alive by ginseng soup every day.
Grandmother had already instructed Aunt Chang to arrange the funeral. Wei Yan was heartbroken, but there was nothing she could do.
Even receiving a letter from Xiao Qingrong didn't bring him any joy.
He numbly unfolded the letter, and after reading its contents, his face paled.
"Wei Yan, you unfilial son! You don't believe in my sister, such a good doctor, but instead believe in those quacks! Do you want to kill your mother?!"
Xiao Qingrong gave him a severe dressing-down in the letter.
Wei Yan seemed to awaken from a dream.
"Oh right, there's also bee therapy. I need to go find Sister Xiao."
He stumbled out of the courtyard, got into the carriage, and headed to the Xiao residence.
Just as Xiao Qingyin returned to the door and was about to get out of the car, a luxurious carriage crashed straight into her.
She swayed and fell backward, landing on the man's lap.
Yi Shuihan gasped.
Xiao Qingyin quickly stood up and turned to look at him, "Are you alright?"
How could nothing be wrong!
Yi Shuihan suffered unspeakable pain.
She forced a stiff smile: "I'm fine."
"That's good."
Xiao Qingyin peeked out from behind the car window, and was about to complain about who was so reckless when she saw a figure wrapped in a fur coat get out of the car.
"Prince Wei?"
Thinking that the other party might be looking for her, Xiao Qingyin quickly grabbed her medical kit and got out of the car.
Just as Wei Yan was about to rush into the Xiao residence, he suddenly heard someone calling him. He turned around and saw Xiao Qingyin. He ran over with a look of surprise and delight.
"Sister Xiao!"
He was so excited that he forgot all his manners and held Xiao Qingyin's hand tightly.
"Please save my mother!"
Is your mother feeling any better?
"No, she also vomited blood."
Xiao Qingyin's expression changed.
"Take me to see her."
"good!"
The luxurious carriage disappeared down the street in the blink of an eye.
Yi Shuihan withdrew his gaze, the scene of Wei Yan grabbing Xiao Qingyin's wrist replaying in his mind. For some reason, he felt a little unhappy.
"Go to the Marquis of Jian'an's residence."
He gave instructions to the coachman.
He probably hadn't drunk with Ouyang Xiuqi for several days and was feeling pent up.
Yi Shuihan thought so.
...
According to Xiao Qingyin's assumption, even if Ning Shi's medicine was ineffective, her condition should not worsen.
Now that she's vomiting blood, there must be something she's overlooked.
Upon entering the Duke of Anguo's residence, observing the well-mannered servants, she asked Wei Yan, "Who is in charge of the household now?"
“Aunt Chang,” Wei Yan replied, “is my elder brother’s birth mother.”
"Have your mother's meals these past few days been prepared by the main kitchen or the small kitchen?"
"A large kitchen. There is no small kitchen in the mansion. Grandmother thinks it's too extravagant and won't allow it to be opened."
Xiao Qingyin had a plan in mind.
After seeing Ning and taking her pulse, the matter became crystal clear.
Ning ate something she shouldn't have.
"Do you have any clean villas?" Xiao Qingyin asked. "I mean villas that you can completely control, where the manor can't interfere."
Wei Yan's face showed surprise and uncertainty. "You mean there's someone in the manor..."
"Yes, that's exactly what you mean."
“How could this be…” Wei Yan murmured to himself, “Aunt Chang has never been competitive or greedy. If my mother hadn’t been so ill that she couldn’t get out of bed, we wouldn’t have entrusted her with managing the household. She’s managed things very well these past few months…”
“I don’t know who did it,” Xiao Qingyin replied. “I only know that if your mother continues to stay in the mansion, even I can’t change the situation.”
“Alright.” Wei Yan didn’t hesitate any longer. “Let’s go to the villa now.”
When Ning woke up from her coma and heard this, she asked blankly, "What are we going to the villa for?"
"To treat your illness."
Wei Yan replied.
“I’ve invited Sister Xiao over. Mother, let’s try bee therapy.”
“No, no,” Ning shook her head, “Mother doesn’t do bee therapy.”
"Mother, that's the only way." Wei Yan's eyes welled up with tears. "I don't want to lose you."
Ning shook her head again.
"Your mother is doing this for your own good."
"How can I possibly be alright after you're gone!"
Wei Yan was in tears.
"Sister Xiao said someone in the manor tried to harm you. If they dared to treat you like this, they would dare to treat me like this too. If you leave, how long can I live..."
"Wh-what?"
Ning's eyes widened.
Xiao Qingyin calmly said, "There's something wrong with the ginseng soup you drank."
After hearing this, Ning stared blankly at the top of the tent, remained silent for a long time, and said bitterly, "But I don't want to implicate you."
Xiao Qingyin immediately understood her concerns.
"Don't worry, I'm 70% confident. Even if I fail, I can get out unscathed. Don't think of me as so weak."
The firmness in her tone gave Ning a glimmer of hope.
"Are you really 70% sure?"
Xiao Qingyin nodded.
After hesitating for a short while, Ning finally made up her mind.
"Okay, I'd like to try."
Wei Yan was overjoyed and immediately ordered people to prepare a carriage.
After quickly packing a few things, the two of them led Ning Shi, who was being held in the arms of a rough old woman, along with her maids and servants, out of the main courtyard.
"What are you doing?!"
Upon hearing the news, Wei Zhenghong rushed over and angrily began to curse.
"Don't you know your mother can't stand the wind! Take her back to her room right now! How many times have I told you! Think before you act!"
Wei Yan habitually drooped his head, then immediately realized that he had nowhere left to retreat.
If this drags on any longer, Mother will die.
He mustered his courage, looked directly into Wei Zhenghong's eyes, and said firmly, "Father, I want to take Mother to the villa to receive bee therapy."
