Fearing that Bai Yanzhang would accuse them of bribery again, Qin quickly said, "Tianci, your Uncle Bai doesn't like..."
Before he could finish speaking, Bai Yanzhang interrupted him.
"Thank you, I really like pine nuts."
He reached out and took the pine nuts.
Tianci was very happy and grabbed another handful, stuffing it into his hand.
"Then please take more, I've picked a lot."
"Did you pick all of these yourself?"
"Yes! But Mom helped me weigh down the branches so I could pick them..."
The little guy talked nonstop about his experience picking pine cones.
With a smile, Bai Yanzhang put the pine cones that Tianci had given him into his sleeve pocket, and then reached out to pick pine cones while listening to him speak.
By the time the little guy finished speaking, he had already picked a large handful of pine cones.
"This is a gift for you."
He said to Tianci.
Tianci's eyes lit up.
"Wow, Uncle Bai, the pine cones you picked are huge! I wanted to pick some too, but I couldn't reach them. Uncle Bai, you're so tall!"
He unceremoniously accepted the handful of pine cones.
Qin Wenjun found it amusing.
Bai Yanzhang is a man who really cherishes his reputation; he even returned a few pine cones that a child gave him.
If all the officials in Dae Hee were as honest and upright as him, that would be wonderful.
However, considering his past relationships with prostitutes, I felt that he wasn't exactly a decent person.
Thinking of this, she couldn't help but wonder: Bai Yanzhang had long since passed the mourning period but was still not married. Was it because he frequented brothels, had experienced many things, and looked down on respectable women, or did he not want to marry someone to keep at home, causing jealousy and interference?
Her contemplation, however, was interpreted by others as her being infatuated with Bai Yanzhang.
This "other person" was none other than Meng Qi.
The Meng family ancestral graves are on the next hill.
Knowing that Bai Yanzhang would go out of the city to pay respects at his parents' graves, she urged her grandmother to go out early. After paying respects to her ancestors, she made an excuse that she was not feeling well and went down the mountain early.
All for the sake of running into Bai Yanzhang.
Unexpectedly, Bai Yanzhang was once again outmaneuvered by Qin Wenjun.
"That shameless bitch!"
She gritted her teeth as she looked at Bai Yanzhang and Qin Wenjun, mother and son, who were sitting not far away, their atmosphere as harmonious as that of a family of three.
He secretly wished he could devour Qin Wenjun alive.
This slut ran off with another man when Bai Yanzhang was down on his luck; what right does she have to come back to him now?
If we don't teach her a lesson she'll never forget, she'll never be a Meng!
She turned her head away angrily, pondering a solution.
A richly decorated carriage approached from afar and stopped not far in front of her.
She would recognize the emblem on the carriage even if it were burned to ashes.
The residence of the Marquis of Guangyang.
Hearing the familiar voice coming from inside the car, she trembled all over.
I immediately wanted to get back into the car.
But after glancing at the wretched mother and son, she gritted her teeth, steeled herself, and walked toward the carriage of the Marquis of Guangyang's residence.
Qin Wenjun was completely unaware that she was being envied. After hearing the voices of Xiao Qingyin and others coming from the mountain, she collected all the pine cones on the ground.
Then, taking Tianci's hand, she said to Bai Yanzhang, "Lord Bai, the young lady and the others have gone down the mountain. We'll take our leave now."
Tianci waved enthusiastically: "Goodbye, Uncle Bai."
Bai Yanzhang smiled slightly: "Goodbye."
After saying goodbye, Qin Wenjun led Tianci back to the carriage.
When she reached the carriage and helped the child into it, she suddenly noticed a strong gaze.
Looking up, they saw Jiang Qinshou, the heir apparent of the Marquis of Guangyang, staring intently at the mother and son.
Seeing her looking at him, he even smiled at her.
She felt a sudden unease, quickly boarded the carriage, and avoided the man's gaze.
Jiang Qinshou had often visited the Meng family before and had seen her several times, but his gaze had never been as ardent as it was now.
This made her a little uneasy.
I have no idea what this person is up to.
She only breathed a sigh of relief when Xiao Qingyin, Madam Han, and the others came down the mountain and returned to the capital safely.
Xiao Qingyin noticed her unusual behavior and asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Qin Wenjun shook her head: "It's nothing, I just saw Meng Qi's ex-husband."
"Did he cause you trouble?"
"No, no."
Qin Wenjun couldn't reveal this matter.
After all, Jiang Qinshou hadn't done anything; he had only glanced at the mother and son a few times.
It's unreasonable for her to insist that he has ulterior motives.
Seeing that she was alright, Xiao Qingyin went to deal with that idiot Yi Shuihan.
He had just picked a large pile of chestnuts on the mountain, and he was holding them in his pocket, saying he would roast them for her when he got back.
The spiky shells of the chestnuts are still there.
He didn't mind the pain of being pricked.
She persuaded him all the way before finally convincing him to take the things out.
Unexpectedly, a small piece of gold was found mixed in with those chestnut shells.
It was probably carried by a crow or something, carried into the woods, and landed there.
He presented it to her like a precious treasure: "Wife, this is your favorite."
Xiao Qingyin raised an eyebrow.
This idiot actually knows that she loves gold more than him?
That's quite self-aware.
She smiled and took it, saying, "This piece of gold is of good quality. I'll have a ring made from it later."
Yi Shuihan looked at her expectantly.
Xiao Qingyin asked in confusion, "Is there anything else?"
"Mwah."
Xiao Qingyin: "..."
This idiot must have watched too much of her interactions with Owl.
They're imitating this.
Doesn't she even look at who's on the bus? How can she possibly save face?
Qin Wenjun poured tea, pretending not to see or hear anything.
Han, Yun Wanyin, and Fu Weiyun were in another car and did not hear it.
Tianci, who knew nothing, said to Yi Shuihan in a childish voice, "Uncle Yi, you're such a big man, do you still want him? Aren't you ashamed?"
