Chapter 243 A Chilling Note

Chen Yuqi's face turned even uglier, and her chest heaved slightly, clearly indicating that she was quite angry.

Just as she was about to speak again in rebuttal/

"Smack!"

A soft sound.

Without warning, the lights in the private room suddenly dimmed!

It wasn't completely extinguished, but rather suddenly turned a dim, flickering yellow, like a candle burning in the wind!

The sudden turn of events took everyone by surprise!

"What happened?"

"The power is out?"

The attendants behind Xia Wentao and Qin Mei subconsciously stood up and looked around warily.

A low gasp and the clattering of tables and chairs moving filled the private room.

In the dim light, everyone's face appeared indistinct, adding to the eeriness of the scene.

Chen Yuqi also felt a chill run down her spine and subconsciously tensed her body.

Could it be...?

This incident lasted for less than three seconds.

The lights suddenly blazed on again, returning to their previous bright and soft state.

It was as if everything that had just happened was just an illusion.

But everyone knows that it wasn't an illusion!

Because, in the center of that mahogany round table covered with a clean white tablecloth, a neatly folded white paper strip had appeared out of nowhere.

The note appeared silently, as if it had appeared out of thin air!

Xia Wentao and Qin Mei's pupils suddenly contracted!

Their eyes were fixed on the note, their faces drained of color, leaving only shock and a hint of incredulous fear!

What happened during that brief moment when the lights dimmed?

Who is it?

How could they have placed this note here without them noticing?

There were clearly only them, Chen Yuqi, and their two trusted bodyguards in the private room!

The only explanation...

A chilling thought simultaneously crept into their minds!

Qin Yang!

Has he been here all along?

Or rather, he has the ability to appear anytime, anywhere, wherever he wants.

This kind of elusive method is simply unheard of.

Chen Yuqi also saw the note, and her heart skipped a beat.

It's Qin Yang, it must be him!

He did find out after all, and he expressed his attitude in this way.

Xia Wentao reached out with trembling hands and picked up the note.

The note was light, but in his hand it felt as heavy as a thousand pounds.

He slowly unfolded it.

There was only one line of text on it, written with sharp strokes, carrying a chilling killing intent that seemed to emanate from the back of the paper.

Anyone who makes things difficult for Chen Yuqi is going against me.

No signature.

But no signature is required anymore!

In the entire Ninghai region, who else but that man would dare to use such a tone and have such power to leave this note?

Xia Wentao's hand holding the note trembled even more violently.

Qin Mei's face turned deathly pale, her elegant and noble demeanor vanished, leaving only the deep fear in her eyes.

This is the most direct and merciless warning from Qin Yang!

He didn't even bother to show his face; he simply used this note to completely shatter their threats and mockery.

He showed them through his actions that Chen Yuqi's words were his words.

Anyone who dares to touch Chen Yuqi is his enemy.

Thinking of Qin Yang's methods of dealing with enemies... the tragic fates of the Zhao and Ye families were still vivid in my mind.

A chill ran from the soles of my feet straight up to the top of my head.

Xia Wentao and Qin Mei felt their throats go dry, their hearts pounding, and even breathing became difficult.

The two family heads, who had been so arrogant just moments before, were now like chickens with their throats choked, unable to utter a single word.

The atmosphere inside the private room was extremely oppressive.

Seeing the two of them looking so dejected, Chen Yuqi's anger subsided considerably, replaced by a complex and inexplicable emotion.

She slowly stood up.

"Uncle Xia, Aunt Qin."

"It seems that tonight's dinner will have to end here."

"Yuqi has official business to attend to, so I'll take my leave now."

She didn't look at the two of them again, but simply nodded slightly, then turned around and left the private room with an air of composure.

Xia Wentao and Qin Mei, along with their equally pale-faced attendants, were left standing there, staring at the thin piece of paper as if they were seeing a ghost.

...

Late at night, in the presidential suite of a top-tier five-star hotel in downtown Ninghai.

Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the city lights shimmer and glow.

Qin Yang stood with his hands behind his back by the window, his figure as straight as a pine tree, exuding a cold aura that kept strangers at bay.

He seemed out of place amidst the bustling city nightscape, yet it was also as if he were the true master of this night sky.

There was a gentle knock on the door.

"Come in."

Qin Yang did not turn around, his voice as cold as ice.

The door opened, and Chen Yuqi walked in.

She had changed out of her evening gown and was wearing a smart business suit, but there was still a trace of fatigue and a hint of complicated emotions between her brows.

She walked a few steps behind Qin Yang and stopped.

"Thank you for the matter concerning Wangjiang Pavilion."

Although it is only two short words, it contains so much.

Qin Yang still didn't turn around, as if the night view outside the window was more attractive than the woman behind him.

"I understand what the six major families mean," Chen Yuqi continued, her voice regaining its usual calm.

"They want to establish communication with you and want to know your plans for the future of Ninghai."

"Or rather, they want to know how much you're going to take from Ninghai."
