He took out his phone and dialed a number. The dim light from the screen reflected on his狰狞 (zhengning - ferocious/hideous) face, making him appear even more sinister and terrifying.
"Hey, honey, it's me."
As soon as the call connected, Chen Kai's voice immediately became gentle, as if he were a completely different person.
This was completely different from his earlier rudeness and impatience towards Lin Wanrou.
"Yes, things here are almost settled."
He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the pitch-black night outside, his eyes flickering uncertainly.
"At the latest tomorrow, I'll transfer the money out tomorrow, and then we'll run away together."
"I'll never have to put up with that stupid woman's attitude again!"
Thinking of this, Chen Kai felt a little better, and his voice became lighter.

Chen Kai's eyes turned sinister, like a hungry wolf eyeing its prey.
He couldn't wait to see Lin Wanrou with nothing left.

Chen Kai's voice suddenly turned lewd, tinged with an barely suppressed excitement.
"Once I get my hands on the money, I'll have my way with her!"
"Let her know the consequences of offending me!"
He imagined Lin Wanrou kneeling before him, begging desperately, and a disgusting smile involuntarily spread across his face.
In the darkness, his eyes gleamed with greed and lust.
"Alright, honey, you should get some rest. I still have some things to take care of."
Chen Kai spoke gently into the phone.
He hung up the phone, and the smile on his face vanished instantly, replaced by an icy coldness.
He turned and walked towards the door, his tall figure casting a long shadow under the light.
He stepped out of the villa, and the cold wind outside made him shiver.
But he didn't pay attention and just wrapped his coat tighter around himself.
His heart was filled only with the desire for money and the desire for revenge against Lin Wanrou.
As for the rest, he didn't care at all.
He got into the car, started the engine, and the roar of the engine broke the silence of the night.
He slammed on the gas pedal, and the car shot off like an arrow.
Where is he going?
Nobody knows.
Perhaps they are going to see someone, or perhaps they are going to handle something.
But no matter where he goes or what he does, it doesn't change the fact that he has completely betrayed Lin Wanrou.
Lin Wanrou, however, remained completely unaware of the truth, indulging in her dream of revenge.

The next morning, sunlight streamed through the sheer curtains into the spacious and bright lobby of the Starry Sky Group.
Xue Gui stood at the front desk, his face plastered with a fawning smile, holding an exquisite gift box in his hand.
"Hello, I am Xue Gui from Xue's Group. I have arranged to discuss cooperation with your General Manager Wu today."
The receptionist smiled politely, but with a hint of aloofness: "Please wait a moment, let me ask for you."
Xue Gui nodded repeatedly, feeling quite pleased with himself, imagining how his status in the company would rise after securing Xingkong Group as a major client.
