Shi Nian's heart suddenly calmed down. She closed the car door and waved to Han Ye.
The taxi started moving and the interior was completely silent.
Shi Nian's face was calm, but his heart was beating wildly.
She didn't dare show her worry and fear, for fear that her sister would become even more anxious.
She held Shi Wei's cold hand soothingly and said softly, "Sister, don't worry, we have to trust Si Han and the others..."
Before Shi Nian finished speaking, he was interrupted by a hurried ring.
Shi Wei's body trembled. "Is it Zhang Jiahao? Is it him who called?"
Shi Nian picked up the phone and showed her the caller, "No, it's Si Han."
Shi Wei's face was pale, her brows were furrowed, and she turned her head to look out the car window.
Shi Nian answered the phone, and Feng Sihan's steady voice came out, "Niannian, are you in the car?"
"We're in the car and on our way."
"If you're scared, you can talk to me for a while."
Shi Nian's brows relaxed as he held his phone in his hands, staring at the screen. His sight seemed to be able to penetrate the distance and see Feng Sihan on the other end.
She could picture his stern face and those dark eyes that could calm anyone down with just one glance.
She whispered, "I know you will protect me, so I'm not afraid."
"Where are you now?"
Shi Nian looked out the window and gave the address.
Suddenly, there was a prompt tone in her ear, and another call came in.
Her face darkened and she said hurriedly, "Sihan, Zhang Jiahao called me! Should I hang up?"
When Shi Wei heard her voice, she quickly turned her head and looked at her nervously.
After Shi Nian finished speaking, he paused for a few seconds and then said, "He hung up the phone."
Feng Sihan's calm voice rang out in the car, "Niannian, use your sister's phone to call him now. If he asks, just say that the line was busy because you were calling him."
When Shi Wei heard this, she quickly did as she was told.
Before she pressed the dial button, the screen lit up.
She said in panic, "Zhang Jiahao called!"
Shi Nian held her hand and said, "Sister, answer the phone, turn on the speaker, and listen to what he says first."
Shi Wei swiped the screen with trembling fingers and answered the call.
Zhang Jiahao cursed, "Why can't I get through to Shinian? Did you call the police? Chenchen is still in my hands, don't you want her life anymore!"
Shi Nian's voice was cold. "You didn't call us, so we had to call you. I called you just now, but your phone was busy and showed that you were on a call. I asked my sister to call you, but you called me first. Now you blame us? Zhang Jiahao, do you still want to run away? Do you want money?"
Zhang Jiahao said impatiently, "Have some respect for me! I will only give you ten minutes. If I don't see any people or money, or see any extra people, you can just wait to collect the body of that brat!"
He finished speaking and immediately hung up the phone.
Shi Nian exhaled and asked Feng Sihan, "Sihan, can you hear his voice?"
"able."
Feng Sihan said in a deep voice, "His goal is to get the money and escape legal sanctions. He won't hurt Chenchen easily before he meets you. He is worried that you will breach the contract, so he called. Nian Nian, don't worry, and don't pay attention to his threats."
Shi Wei interrupted, "Brother-in-law, he doesn't allow a third person to be there. What about the driver who drove us there?"
Shi Nian asked, "When you take action, do you want to give us a signal?"
"The driver will leave after dropping you off. When he drives out of Zhang Jiahao's sight, he will reunite with us."
Feng Sihan continued to answer, "We won't give any signals, you just trade normally and let Zhang Jiahao go, then quickly take Chenchen away, our people will rush over and subdue him on the spot."
He paused, "If there is an emergency, don't be afraid. There are snipers here to ensure your safety."
Shi Nian's eyes widened in an instant, and she pinched Shi Wei's palm, "Sister, you heard it, now you don't have to be afraid."
The driver drove at high speed and soon drove out of the city and into the suburbs.
When they were near their destination, Feng Sihan spoke again, "Nian Nian, no matter what happens, you must protect your own safety."
"I understand. You too."
The road was bumpy and Shi Nian's heartbeat gradually quickened.
She tightened her fingers and whispered, "Sihan, we are almost there. I'm going to hang up first."
After hanging up the phone, she began to look around.
The car seemed to have driven into a woods. Apart from the dirt road on which it was driving, there were undulating trees on both sides, blocking out the sun and exuding a bit of coolness.
She heard Shi Wei's rapid breathing and patted her hand soothingly, "Sister, we will be able to see Chenchen soon."
Shi Wei was distracted and restless. She responded but her eyes were still looking out the window, searching non-stop.
Shi Nian suddenly pointed diagonally forward, "I saw Zhang Jiahao! And Chenchen! Chenchen is in the car!"
Shi Wei's voice suddenly rose, "Where is Chenchen?"
Shi Nian pointed her in the direction, and Zhang Jiahao suddenly raised his eyes and looked in their direction.
The next second, Shi Nian's phone rang.
She quickly answered the call, "What's the matter?"
"Why did you come by taxi? Didn't I forbid you to bring a third person?"
Zhang Jiahao became visibly agitated. From a distance, she could see him walking back and forth angrily, swinging the iron rod in his hand and hitting the car door.
Chenchen was sitting in the passenger seat, curled up in a small ball, shivering.
If Zhang Jiahao's movements were off by a few points, he would hit Chenchen on the head.
Shi Wei's heart suddenly stopped. She screamed and yelled while holding her phone, "You are not allowed to hurt Chenchen!"
Shi Nian patted Shi Wei's arm, took the phone from her hand, and said sternly, "Don't you see what place you chose? How far is it from where we live? My sister doesn't have a car, and I don't have a car either. You don't let me tell my husband, and I'm riding an electric bike, so how can I meet you within ten minutes!"
Shi Nian deliberately lowered her voice, "If you don't want the driver to notice something and call the police, then put the stick down!"
Zhang Jiahao gradually calmed down and said in a cold voice, "Tell him to stop the car! You and Shi Wei come over here on foot!"
Shi Nian said to the driver, "Master, please stop the car first."
She opened the car door, got out first, and raised the box in her hand in the direction of Zhang Jiahao. "Open your eyes and see clearly. This is the one million cash you wanted. We just want Chenchen to come back safely. We don't want to cause any more trouble. Put down the stick and don't hurt her. We'll be there soon."
Shi Nian finished speaking and hung up the phone.
She walked to the side and helped Shi Wei get out of the car.
Zhang Jiahao stared at their every move nervously, and when he saw the taxi turn around and leave, his tense nerves relaxed a little.
Shi Nian took Shi Wei's arm and said, "Sister, be careful where you step."
The two men walked through the bushes, one step deep and one step shallow, towards Zhang Jiahao.
