Chapter 69
There was the sound of bone cracking. A dull thud. Each punch landed powerfully. Blood splattered on the carpet, and frantic shadows trembled against the walls. Yan Xu pulled down his hood, leaned against the wall with his elbows folded, and quietly took in the scene before him.
"Is this how I tricked you into running away?" A tall, red-haired man brushed his hair and glanced back at Yan Xu. "He's quite tough. He hasn't even begged for mercy after this fight." His muscles were terrifyingly muscular, with carp-shaped tattoos etched from his rounded shoulders to his arms. His upper body was bare, and a black and white pattern stretched all the way to the inside of his belt. Sanglun Lekha was of typical Burmese descent.
“Otherwise, how could I be tricked by him into the Dexing family?”
"Yeah, it's fine if you just run away." The red-haired man grabbed the hair of the man in front of him, clicked his tongue a few times, and studied his blood-stained face. "You're also trying to take our potential stock away. Do you know how much money we've lost during this time?"
Duan Heng's eyes were severely swollen, his eyelids were swollen from the congestion, and his soft tissue was so swollen that his eyeballs were almost invisible.
"Don't beat me to death. Haven't you had enough fun?" At the desk directly behind him, a tall, thin, dark-haired man rubbed the scratch on his glasses and put them back on. He fiddled with a pair of pliers, a bloody nail clamped between the teeth. Dando Leka, the elder of the two brothers, currently held the real power in PBL.
Duan Heng's hands were tied, and he was kneeling on the ground, his head hanging down. Blood was pouring from his mouth and nose in columns all over the floor. He looked unconscious. Sang Lun was debating whether to punch him again, but just as he was about to lift his head up, the sudden cheers outside the window almost burst his eardrums.
"What's going on?" He stood up and wanted to take a look.
Dando took his place, walked over to the blinds, lowered the slats, and peered out. "The matches have begun. The first round. Good moves, but I doubt he'll make it all the way to the finals with Muay Thai."
"Tsk, what a bunch of fussers! You must have never seen how you deal with people, big brother."
"Why compete with a newcomer?" He unfolded a handkerchief from his pocket, shook it, and slowly wiped his hands. "And judging from his back, he has a pretty face. Give him a few more punches when you go in."
"How do you know it's a newcomer?"
He turned his back and tapped his cheekbone with his index finger. "Gyrfalcon."
"Wow, how brave of you to choose something like this in the PBL arena. Didn't anyone tell him? Or is the little princess just trying to annoy you?" The red-haired man grinned, his gums showing. "Whatever it is, it looks like we're going to have some fun today."
"Let's talk about it after you finish what you have on hand."
"How about we deal with this guy later? Big brother, give the bird to me. Anyway, you hate it..."
"I don't dislike Gyrfalcon," Dando corrected, shooting his brother a warning glance. "On the contrary, he's unmatched. I simply don't want anyone within my sphere of influence to tarnish this mask."
Yan Xu paid no attention to the brothers' conversation. He simply urged them to quickly deal with Duan Heng. After being driven from the ring and exploited and abused by the Dexing family, Duan Heng remained unharmed, even enjoying a new life other street children could only dream of. This was unacceptable to Yan Xu, who lived on the streets and survived by pickpocketing. Unfortunately, after venting their anger, the Laika brothers' sadistic tendencies were fully unleashed. They held off on taking action for the time being.
It will be troublesome.
He thought. Duan Heng now worked for Jingshan Real Estate, which happened to be related to the white-haired man. In front of that coffee shop, he saw them together, talking in secret.
He tugged at his hair, his feet moving restlessly. He felt that anything involving that white-haired man would be a real nuisance. He couldn't explain why he felt this way, so he walked around and peered out the window, hoping to find out what was going on. When he did, he was stunned.
His tall figure was tucked away beneath a long-sleeved T-shirt. After the match, his legs were adorned with leather leg bands and knee pads. The T-shaped buckles pressed against his inner thighs, creating a voluptuous, sensual fit. Several thin chains dangled from his legs, highlighting the toned curves of his legs. His physique was top-notch, and his features, reminiscent of an apex predator, were terrifyingly fierce.
——He once swore that he would never forget this face until his death.
-
"Two people. The defending champion might be playing some tricks." Qiao Feng was only a beginner in the PBL and didn't know much about the inside story. Plus, he got goosebumps whenever he got close to him. Pei Huai chatted with him for a few words before immediately sending him off to get some wine. Hearing the order, the other man ran off in a hurry. Then he pressed the button on his headset and said to Xiang Mingqi, who was on standby, "Report on the progress."
No sound.
"Answer?" He thought the headset was not connected and checked again.
[I heard you were going to have a threesome with someone else.]
silence.
There was a long silence.
[Wow, look at you, you're silent! So is this true? You're really going to abandon me and go have a threesome with a bunch of older guys in their underwear! Isn't that eye-watering?]
"Don't waste my time."
[Uh, wow, wow…]
I didn't find much else here, mostly VIP areas requiring iris verification. It seems the PBL scene is quite complex.
"Um."
"What do you mean by 'hmm' all the time? Do you know what I mean? Or just shut up. Anyway, what am I supposed to do next?"
"Stand by."
[Okay, okay, stand by... Wait, brother, you're making me look like a complete slacker and useless.]
"What else?" He said and completely cut off contact. He waited for Qiao Feng to bring the wine over, took a sip, and prepared to face the second game.
The match took place on the same concrete floor, mopped with blood. The lighting was still bright. Everything except the fighting area was shrouded in a hazy darkness. His opponent was a curly-haired Latino. He'd probably gotten a black eye from the previous fight, biting on his braces. The bleeding from ruptured capillaries had left his eyeballs a vibrant red, a truly hideous sight.
Pei Huai checked the tightness of the wrist strap and twisted his wrist slightly.
Facing the ballot boxes on the left and right, the audience was discussing: "Who are you betting on?"
"RBC is already in that state, who are you going to bet on? Besides, everyone who came through the first game saw it. It was an upset. Gyrfalcon knocked Rat to the ground with just two moves."
"Rat is just rehabbing from an injury, and he's just trying to make up the numbers. If he were in his prime, I don't know how many hands he would have to give up to lose."
"It's a hard choice. RBC is very treacherous, who knows..."
"Make way, everyone, get out of the way." Someone was the one who started the shoving, and many people lost their balance and fell to the ground, cursing. A sturdy arm with a koi fish tattoo gathered a handful of chips from the table and dumped them into a cardboard box with a bird's head painted on it. "All in."
He held the head of the person behind him and stared at the figure stretching his muscles on the stage. Beneath the arrogant red hair was a sinister smile.
"Let me see if you're worth being a surprise."
In the second round, he prioritized feints, then resorted to a double-leg takedown, using explosive knees to close in, locking his hands behind his opponent's legs to control his center of gravity. RBC, clearly a seasoned veteran, struggled to his feet, but upon landing, he shielded the back of his head and attempted a counterattack with a kick.
Pei Huai retreated to evade, but his opponent remained tight, following up with a hook. The momentary dominance sent screams from the crowd. The attacker launched frequent punches, striking directly at the core, while also stabbing back with elbows. The defender was unable to react effectively in a short period of time.
"Don't fucking hide, kill him, RBC--!" The bettors shouted anxiously.
The straight punch missed, only to send a cloud of sweat billowing out. RBC's breathing intensified. It wasn't that he didn't want a decisive outcome, but that someone didn't want the fight to end and was stalling for time.
He noticed Pei Huai occasionally glancing around, but he had no time to think about why. All he could remember was finding the right opportunity to attack, but he was always able to avoid it in time.
"Stop playing those tricks." He finally couldn't stand it anymore and swung his fist. "I don't have time to waste with people like you."
"Watch your tongue."
"What?"
He was stunned for a moment, his position shifting, but people were already a beat too late to notice. Pei Huai switched from defense to offense, grabbing the opponent's wrist and swishing around his back. With incredible speed, he flipped over his shoulder, twisting his legs around his neck and hips, strangling RBC so hard that he foamed at the mouth and fell to the ground amidst a chorus of sighs.
Pei Huai squatted down, adjusted his leg loops, and headed for the track exit. Just as he was about to take a glass of water from the track attendant, a man with striking red hair pushed through the crowd, inserted a straw, and held it to his lips.
"Well fought, little princess. I'm Sanlun Lekha. You should know me."
"...Don't call me that." Pei Huai bit the end of the straw and stared at him. His cold eyes had already given him the answer.
"Don't you know? Never mind. It doesn't matter." Sang Lun was rarely this patient. Just the outline and the features made him think this face was quite interesting. He really wanted to take off the mask and take a look. "I'm here to warn you. My eldest brother doesn't like Gyrfalcon. He'll kill you." He threatened, taking the opportunity to touch the back of Pei Huai's hand. "But if I let you die like this, I'll be heartbroken."
"so?"
"I want you to come to my room and play with me. Then I can tell him more. As long as I'm willing to protect you, he won't kill you."
"it is a pity."
"What?" Sang Lun moved closer to him, trying to hear what he was saying.
"I have a boyfriend. Get in line."
"But I'd rather cut in line than miss you. What's wrong with having a boyfriend? Since they're willing to let someone like you compete, I don't think he's that suitable for you. Your eyes are simply amazing, like agate, I've never seen anything like..."
The raised elbow ruthlessly blocked him, and then an arm came in and took him to the rest area from before Sang Lun's eyes. He noticed that it was a very young man, tall, with compact muscles, a standard gym product.
He covered Pei Huai's head with his coat to hide his face, bent down slightly to take off the mask, and then kissed him anxiously.
Sang Lun understood. After all, having a boyfriend whose groin was so concave that it offended the human eye was unbearable. He was standing in the light, or perhaps in the dark; it didn't matter.
What matters is that as long as he exists, everything around him becomes blurred because of him.
They were kissing passionately when suddenly, Gyrfalcon's boyfriend froze, looking up at him as they kissed. His eyes were filled with resentment, and veins popped on the hand holding his lover. Even though Pei Huai tried to pull him back, his arrogance remained.
"He's mine. The one with red hair." Her hands were still cupping Pei Huai's cheeks, the kiss continuing, only briefly separating. Xiang Mingqi raised his middle finger to the crowd, his voice challenging, "Have you ever looked in the mirror? No matter how I look at you, you don't look like a good dog."
Seeing Sang Lun's facial muscles gradually twitching, Xiang Mingqi smiled, then kissed his senior forcefully as if to show off, sucking carefully on his lower lip. He hugged him, and with one hand, he lifted the curtain of the rest area and pulled Pei Huai inside.
He didn't leave.
Because next, Sang Lun rushed forward and punched him in the eyebrow in anger, and then... the two men started fighting to the death.
