Chapter 15 You are the only one talking nonsense outside

"Why is there no meat? I want to eat meat..." Li Zhisen was dissatisfied when he saw there was only a plate of green vegetables.

"Don't you know what's going on at home? If you don't like it, don't eat it!" Li Xueping saw that he was about to make a fuss again and scolded him irritably.

Li Jianping glanced at them and ignored the two children.

Although he usually dotes on his son, at this moment he just wants to fill his own stomach first.

"Xue Ping, how do you talk to your brother? He is still young and doesn't understand anything. Why are you yelling at him?" Zhang Hongmei felt distressed when she saw Li Zhisen being scolded.

"Mom, he's already 12 years old. He should have grown up long ago." Li Xueping glanced at her biological mother. Sometimes she really felt that she had spoiled him too much, which led to him going to jail in his previous life.

"I didn't say I don't want to eat..." Li Zhisen looked at his sister who suddenly became fierce. Out of blood suppression, he obediently picked up the bowl.

In fact, Li Zhisen felt very wronged. His parents had originally planned to let him stop studying after the fourth grade. Anyway, he couldn't take the college entrance examination now, so what was the point of reading so many books?

But Li Xueping, his biological sister, suddenly went crazy and insisted that he continue studying!

But he is not cut out for studying!

Because the tables and chairs in the house were stolen, the cooked dishes were placed on the stove. There were no chairs for several people to sit on, so they could only eat this simple dinner standing up.

Not only the tables and chairs, but also the quilts in the house were stolen. The only thing with cotton was the pillow that was left.

"How can I sleep without a quilt? Will I freeze to death at night?" When it was time to go to bed, Li Zhisen looked at his bare bed and couldn't help feeling a little worried.

"We still have two winter cotton-padded jackets, which can be used as a blanket." Zhang Hongmei felt sorry for her son, so she took out Li Jianping's remaining two patched cotton-padded jackets and gave one to Li Zhisen to cover himself with.

The bed in Li Zhisen's room had been moved away, so he had to sleep with Li Jianping and Zhang Hongmei. Although he was covered with a cotton coat, he still felt cold after sleeping for a while. He was woken up by the cold several times throughout the night, shivering.

"A-choo——" The next morning, Li Zhisen sneezed as soon as he got up.

"Are you catching a cold? Didn't you cover yourself with a cotton-padded jacket last night..." Zhang Hongmei quickly touched his forehead.

Fortunately, she didn't have a fever. She went to the kitchen to boil some hot water and asked everyone in the family to drink it.

In the morning, we made some porridge with the rice left over from last night. There was not even any vegetable, but at least the four of us in the family did not go hungry.

As for Li Xin...

Anyway, I gave her a bowl of rice soup last night, so she won’t starve to death!

"You wait at home. If the police come, go to the field and call us." Li Jianping instructed Li Xueping.

Although the house was robbed, work still had to be done. Li Zhisen still went to school after breakfast. The couple went to the fields, so Li Xueping had to stay at home.

Li Jianping and Zhang Hongmei left home late and didn't meet anyone on the road. They were both in a bad mood because of the thieves, so no one noticed them when they went to work in the fields.

Near noon, the two of them packed up their things early and went home from the fields, a break from their usual high-profile attitude.

"Someone from the police station is here." As soon as they entered the house, Li Xueping came over and said to them.

Two policemen came to the house and were investigating inside.

Zhang Hongmei saw that Li Xin's room door was open, and she quickly walked in.

Li Xin went out to work in the morning and had not returned yet. Her room was empty, with only a bed and a wooden board on it, and nothing else.

"Hmph." Zhang Hongmei snorted.

Yes, if it was really Li Xin who stole it, how much could be hidden in such a small room?

"We've checked the scene. The thieves stole so thoroughly that our preliminary assessment is that you showed off your wealth, which is why you attracted attention. As for the specific situation, we will also collect evidence from people nearby to see if we can find any eyewitnesses." After the two police officers checked the situation at home, they explained the situation to them.

"But because the things stolen from you are so many and varied, it may not be easy to investigate," another police officer added.

In the village, thefts are usually committed by acquaintances, but even they have never seen a case as thorough as this one, which is like a robbery. The probability of people from the same village committing such crimes is relatively low.

So they suspected that the crime was committed by a vagrant, and they were afraid that they would not be able to find any clues for the time being, but they did not say it directly to avoid causing unnecessary panic.

"But all the money in our family was stolen. How can we live without money? You must help us find the thief!" Zhang Hongmei said excitedly, pulling the arm of a policeman.

"Of course, we'll try our best."

The two investigated and collected evidence nearby, and asked many people in the village, especially the neighbors near the Li family.

"I didn't see anyone, and I didn't hear any sound."

The villagers living nearby shook their heads and said they didn't notice anything wrong.

After all, everyone went to do farm work early in the morning. Who would notice whether there was a thief in the neighbor's house?

"I heard the Li family's house was completely emptied. So many things would have to be hauled away by truck, right? But we didn't see any trucks come into our village yesterday, not even ox carts pulling goods."

There were also curious and courageous villagers who took the initiative to approach the police to talk.

But without exception, no useful clues were obtained. It was really strange that so many things were stolen without even a single witness.

"No, the thief hasn't been caught yet, why are you leaving?" The two police officers told the Li family about the investigation and were about to leave, but were grabbed by Zhang Hongmei.
