Chapter 30 Kang Lin's Accident

"Children are a matter of fate. I love the princess, not the child." He smiled gently, his refined eyes filled with his princess, as if Princess Cheng'an was his whole world.

"Actually, isn't it fine between the princess and me? When we have children, won't the princess only be nice to the children? Wouldn't I be neglected?"

Normally, Cheng'an would be very happy and sweet to hear this, thinking that she must be blessed by God to have such a husband.

Now she felt that something was wrong with everything. What man doesn't love children? They like children to carry on the family line, because it's not them who will face death.

And if he truly only loved her, why would he have a child with a mistress?

Not far away.

Wang Manzhu turned her head slowly to look at Qin Su, and asked her in astonishment, "Who...who is he? Why does he look so much like my husband?"

Qin Su awkwardly looked away. "His name is Kang Lin, the consort of Princess Cheng'an. They have been married for many years."

Xiao Heng shook Wang Manzhu's hand, "Mother, that's Father."

Seeing that Qin Su wasn't surprised at all, Wang Manzhu's eyes filled with tears. "So, you already knew, didn't you?"

Qin Su said, "I saw you and the prince consort strolling on the street a while ago, and I realized something was wrong, so I followed them to check it out."

"Is this your purpose in approaching me?"

Qin Su frowned slightly. She didn't understand why, at this point, Wang Manzhu's biggest concern wasn't Kang Lin, or that she had become a mistress hated by everyone, but instead she kept harping on her.

This is illogical.

"Yes." Qin Su admitted it readily, without the slightest hesitation.

Wang Manzhu's frail body swayed precariously, and tears rolled down her cheeks.

"I even argued with him about you yesterday. I said, 'You're my friend, you're so good to me.' Was all of this just a lie?!" she shouted at Qin Su, completely unconcerned about whether Kang Lin would find out.

Kang Lin froze, then turned around abruptly and saw Wang Manzhu and Xiao Heng.

"Approaching you did have an ulterior motive, but otherwise, if you consider us friends, then we are. If you stubbornly insist that I never had any sincerity towards you, then that's not true."

Sometimes explanations are meaningless; it all depends on how people think.

"Mom, I want to find Daddy. Shall we go find Daddy?" Xiao Heng, who was usually quiet, shook his mother's hand persistently.

“He’s not your father!” Wang Manzhu shouted at the child, seemingly forcefully denying Kang Lin’s existence.

"That's Daddy!" Xiao Heng suddenly broke free from Wang Manzhu's hand with brute force and ran towards Kang Lin.

"When I first met you, I didn't think you were the type to willingly become a mistress, but I got closer to you later."

She doesn't look like the kind of person who would ruin someone else's marriage.

"I was deceived before too. He came to propose in person, saying he would treat me well. Unfortunately..."

Wang Manzhu's tears streamed down her face. She was angry that her sisters were scheming against her, but she didn't seem to resent them that much.

"What should I do? I didn't know. When we met, I didn't know he was married. If I had known, I would never have agreed to be with him."

“Go and tell the princess.”

Wang Manzhu finds it difficult to face another woman who was hurt because of her, even though she had praised her not long ago.

But Xiao Heng was still there, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and go over.

She took a few steps and saw Qin Su following behind her, which seemed to give her courage.

Princess Cheng'an had no goodwill toward children born to her husband's concubines; the real trouble was Kang Lin, the one who needed to be dealt with.

Cheng An suddenly stood up and angrily questioned Kang Lin, "Why does this child call you father? You'd better give this princess a reasonable explanation!"

At that moment, the anger that had been suppressed for days finally erupted.

However, after being married for many years, she still hoped that Kang Lin would give in and back down.

"Father, what are you doing here? Mother cried all day, and you didn't even try to comfort her." Xiao Heng clung to Kang Lin's leg, completely bewildered by the current situation.

Kang Lin panicked and didn't know what to do.

On one side is his own biological son, and on the other side is his wife who represents power.

Upon hearing the child's words, Cheng An's anger flared even higher.

At this moment, Wang Manzhu ran over, forcefully pulled Xiao Heng away, and bowed to Cheng An, saying, "Your Highness."

He only opened his mouth, but then didn't know how to explain it.

"Are you the woman he's seeing outside?" Cheng An looked Wang Manzhu up and down carefully this time. She was actually quite pretty, petite and not at all domineering.

Wang Manzhu was quite embarrassed and offered a weak explanation: "When I met him, he said he was not yet married."

"How long have you known him?" Cheng An asked.

Five years.

Princess Cheng'an couldn't help but burst into laughter, then raised her hand and slapped Kang Lin hard across the face. "Fine, fine! We've just gotten married, and you're already seeing other women?!"

"Kang Lin, do you know that according to the laws of Da'an, a prince consort cannot take concubines, let alone have mistresses?"

She was furious, but her heart ached terribly. Betrayed by her husband, waves of nausea and vomiting washed over her.

Kang Lin finally realized what was happening. He rushed to hug Cheng An, explaining, "Princess, I don't know them. They're just talking nonsense."

"There must be a conspiracy. Someone must be trying to harm me and drive a wedge between us. You have to believe me." He desperately wanted to move Cheng An, as she had always been soft-hearted towards him.

Cheng An couldn't push Kang Lin away, so Qin Su reached out and pulled him away, but didn't say a word.

"You think I only found out about their existence today? Everyone in your courtyard and that area has seen you. How can you deny it?"

"You've cleverly arranged for someone to be stationed in the south of the city. I certainly don't go there on ordinary days. It's a pity you still can't fool everyone."

Kang Lin reached out to pull Cheng An back, saying, "Princess, don't you trust your husband? This woman and child must have been hired by someone else to plot against me. We can't fall for their trap. Once this is over, I'll immediately send someone to investigate and give you a satisfactory answer."

"Shut up," Cheng An said angrily, then turned to Wang Manzhu and ordered, "You speak."

Wang Manzhu said, "We were married in Yang County, and everyone who was on good terms with the Wang family there knew about it. I happened to encounter kidnappers while I was out traveling, and he saved me. But he was injured in the process, so I took him home, and we spent a lot of time together..."

Cheng An couldn't stand it anymore. She now wanted to kill not only Kang Lin, but also Wang Manzhu.

"Guards, drag them both out and beat them to death!"

Anyone who touches her man deserves to die!

Kang Lin quickly pulled Cheng An back, "Isn't this wrong? How can we treat human life so carelessly without investigating the matter thoroughly?"

Cheng An pointed at his nose, laughing angrily, "You're saying this princess treats human life like dirt?" Then she pointed at Wang Manzhu, "Does the mistress of Da'an have the right to beat and kill her mistress? Is there a problem with that?"

"They weren't mistresses, I didn't know them at all," Kang Lin continued to argue.

"And there's a child in there, so young. His Majesty would be furious if he knew."

"Don't try to intimidate me with your imperial brother."

Just then, a commotion broke out outside, and no one knew what had happened.
