Chapter 70: Sword in Hand, Slay the Enemy! (Happy New Year~)
Li Shiyue had been thinking about the mission issued by the system because she had woken up hungry in the middle of the night and was looking at the stars in the sky outside the window. But now she had no mind to think about the mission.
She suddenly sat up, waking up Li's mother and Li Qiutian, who were sleeping next to her.
Li Qiutian was still drowsy when her mother opened her eyes. "October?"
Li Shiyue didn't have time to say anything to her mother. She got up and walked towards the place behind the group where they had put their baskets. She took out a wood-chopping knife from the basket. When she turned around, she saw that her mother had already sat up halfway and was staring at her with wide eyes.
Holding the wood-chopping knife, Li Shiyue crouched down next to her mother, calling softly, "Sister? Sister?"
Then he said to Li's mother, "Mother, something's wrong. I smell blood."
Seeing the doubt in Li's mother's eyes, Li Shiyue had no choice but to add, "It smells like fresh human blood."
Along the way, Li's mother had already developed a knack for it. As soon as she heard Li Shiyue say that, she turned around without saying a word and quietly called Shitou and Li Wangming to get up.
Li Qiutian rubbed her eyes and sat up. Li Shiyue told Li Qiutian to wake up Li Xiatian and Zheng Meiniang, and she went to Zhou Lanhua and Li Wangshui, who were lying next to the Zheng family mother and daughter.
Li Wangshui was highly vigilant; he had already woken up as soon as Li Shiyue approached.
“Uncle Wangshui, it’s me, October.”
Seeing that Li Wangshui was holding a wood-chopping knife in his hand when he sat up, she was relieved, knowing that he had prepared it beforehand.
After exchanging a few words with Li Wangshui, Li Shiyue turned around and continued to hunch over as she went to where Li Shiyang and Li Youfu were lying. Li Shiyang was, after all, a scholar, and even after Li Shiyue patted his arm twice, he still didn't wake up.
Whether it was the peaceful days of the past two days that made Li Shiyang lower his guard, or because he was on the same ship and the nobleman accompanying him was the son of the Prince of Zhenbei, he felt very safe and thus slept more soundly.
Having no other choice, Li Shiyue pinched Li Shiyang hard, and the pain finally woke him up.
"Brother Shiyang, it's me, October!"
I smelled blood. Something's wrong.
Li Shiyang knew that Li Shiyue was exceptionally talented and would not lie to him at this time.
When Li Shiyue saw Li Shiyang start to move, she quickly bent down and returned to her mother and the others.
Even though Li Shiyue wasn't very tall, the cabin was still a bit low, so Li Shiyue had to stoop to move forward.
As soon as Li Shiyue returned to her mother's side, she saw Li Qiutian holding the long knife she had obtained from the refugee Dazhuzi, Li Xiatian and Shitou holding short knives, and Li Wangming holding a kitchen knife standing next to Shitou. The four of them stood facing outwards, surrounding Li's mother and Zheng Meiniang behind them.
Even though Zheng Meiniang's eyesight was failing, she still held the sharp pig-slaughtering knife that she always carried on her lower back.
Li Shiyue was very satisfied with what she saw. She was about to say something to her mother and the others when a sudden shout broke the still relatively quiet night.
"Enemy attack! Enemy attack! The Japanese pirates have boarded the ship!"
Then shouts of battle rang out. Upon seeing this, Li Shiyang immediately yelled, "Everyone from Li Family Village, get up! Get up! Get up!"
Meanwhile, the people from other places who lived in the same cabin as the people from Lijia Village had long since gathered together with their own weapons.
Li Shiyue had just told his mother and the others, "Don't be afraid, resist them! They're no more terrifying than the refugees!"
Li Shiyue suddenly felt the cabin darken. The dim yellow lamp hanging at the cabin door was knocked down and fell to the ground. The bright moonlight that was originally coming in from the open cabin door was blocked by a short figure.
Turning around, Li Shiyue saw the Japanese pirates entering the cabin with a long, blood-dripping knife in hand!
The man closest to the cabin door didn't even have time to react. By the time he turned and ran back, the Japanese pirate had already drawn his sword and slashed at him.
Even though it was dark and they couldn't see clearly, the smell of blood spurting from the neck still triggered a frenzied scream from everyone in the cabin.
Before everyone could get away, two more Japanese pirates followed them in.
Li Shiyue knew that if they didn't resist, these three Japanese pirates would kill all the men in the cabin!
Then women, children, and infants would become spoils of war for the Japanese pirates!
Just like what the refugee Dazhuzi did!
Were the people who had fled famine and fought their way out of the enemy's territory afraid of the vicious Japanese pirates?
Afraid?
What's there to be afraid of!
Li Shiyue gripped the knife tightly in his hand, bent over, and went up!
In just a few steps, he arrived close. Upon getting closer, the first thing Li Shiyue noticed was the Japanese pirates' hairstyles, which were completely different from those of the Han Chinese.
Although she was bent over, Li Shiyue was not inflexible. She knelt on one knee and reached out to grab the left foot of the Japanese pirate in front of her.
The Japanese pirate thought Li Shiyue was just a young girl and didn't take her seriously at all. He raised his knife and slashed at Li Shiyue's neck.
But he suddenly lost his balance and fell backward. The Japanese pirates would never have imagined that Li Shiyue was a girl with superhuman strength!
Take advantage of their unpreparedness and kill them!
With a slight effort, he pulled the head close, raised his right hand, and slashed down in one swift motion. With a "bang," a head rolled to the ground.
The two other Japanese pirates who followed the headless pirate were immediately terrified. They shouted something incoherently, but both drew their swords and ran towards Li Shiyue.
One against two, the advantage is mine!
Everyone else in the cabin was running inside, shouting, "October!"
Li Qiutian went against the current, holding a long knife and running towards Li Shiyue. She was strong and short, and with a knife in her hand, she knocked two or three people aside. Those who were afraid dared not block her way anymore and ran around her.
But no matter how hard Li Qiutian rushed forward, it was too late!
One of the Japanese pirates raised his sword and slashed down from above. Li Shiyue raised his sword to block, and the clanging sound of the sharp blades clashing against each other was ear-piercing. Li Shiyue blocked it!
The blocked sword startled the Japanese pirate for a moment.
Li Shiyue knew she couldn't wait and had to fight back. She used her waist to push upwards, and the Japanese pirate, unable to withstand the force, retreated backwards with his sword drawn.
But at that moment, two more people walked in through the cabin door!
Li Qiutian finally arrived, and she and Li Shiyue were now back to back facing the four Japanese pirates.
The Japanese pirate who was just killed by Li Shiyue was simply too careless, which allowed Li Shiyue to take advantage of the situation and cut off his head with a single stroke.
The death of the Japanese pirate served as a wake-up call for the later pirates, and they all began to take Li Shiyue seriously.
Moreover, being in the low-ceilinged cabin, Li Shiyue was at a disadvantage no matter how strong she was.
"Sister, force them out of the cabin and onto the deck. Use the old method, kill them!"
