Chapter 76 The Origin of the Evil God

Fifty years ago, the Qingfeng Sect had many followers. During the Ghost Festival, thousands of followers gathered to perform a ritual. Unexpectedly, a fire broke out suddenly, and no one survived.

The resentment of those who died unjustly is usually very strong, let alone thousands of lives. It is no wonder that the resentment would be overwhelming. Therefore, many people in China have gathered to perform rituals to help the dead find peace.

Xie Tianlin's grandmaster also went.

According to the master, there was no resentment at the scene, not even a single ghost; it was as if they had vanished into thin air.

Su Lenghe frowned slightly: "The soul shouldn't have disappeared, but rather been devoured."

Xie Tianlin asked in confusion, "Why did you devour it?"

"Evil arts can increase one's power."

Xie Tianlin's pupils dilated sharply: "You mean, someone is using evil magic?"

His voice rose involuntarily with excitement.

"They're here."

The villagers' voices rang in his ears, and Xie Tianlin quickly covered his mouth, but it was too late; they had already been exposed.

He reached for the peach wood sword behind him, but before he could draw it halfway out, Su Lenghe suddenly threw a talisman at him, freezing Xie Tianlin in place.

Xie Tianlin: ?

Did we lose our way? We should have focused on stabilizing the villagers.

Xie Tianlin tried to open his mouth, but found that he couldn't move anything except his eyes.

Su Lenghe said, "You'll scare the evil spirits away by doing that."

As the villagers drew closer, Xie Tianlin was both alarmed and panicked.

These villagers are clearly being controlled, and it's hard to say what they might do.

He then watched helplessly as Su Lenghe removed the shielding talisman, exposing herself to the villagers.

The old woman's voice was sinister: "Once you're in, don't even think about escaping!"

With a wave of her hand, two strong men stepped forward, each grabbing one of Xie Tianlin's arms: "Let's go!"

Su Lenghe raised her hands to indicate that she had no weapon, and said in a clear voice, "I'll walk by myself."

The old woman's cloudy eyes darted around a few times, but she said nothing and continued walking forward, leaning on her cane.

Xie Tianlin was lifted up, his feet dangling in the air, and he could only let them carry him.

His mind raced as he began to ponder Su He's motives for doing this.

If Su Lenghe hadn't been free of any evil aura, he would have suspected that she was with them.

After walking for a short while, we arrived at the center of the village, at the most luxurious house in the entire village.

The old woman knocked on the door: "Master, the prey has been brought."

"Come in."

The door opened, revealing a familiar face—the puppet of Qingfeng Pavilion.

Upon seeing Su Lenghe, Master Huaiji abruptly stood up: "It's you!"

Then he clapped his hands and laughed, "This time you've fallen into my hands, this time I'll make sure you die a horrible death!"

Xie Tianlin recognized Huaiji Zhenren at a glance. On the surface, Huaiji Zhenren was an ordinary Taoist priest, but unexpectedly, he was actually practicing evil arts.

Master Huaiji was filled with evil energy, and his whole body was shrouded in a cloud of black mist.

Xie Tianlin finally understood why Su Lenghe had frozen him in place.

If he hadn't pretended to be caught, Master Huaiji would probably have escaped long ago.

Su Lenghe swept her cold gaze across them, her tone icy: "You?"

Master Huaiji was so angry that his goatee trembled: "This time you will definitely not escape my grasp."

Su Lenghe sneered, "Even if we do it again, you'll still be my defeated opponent."

Seeing Su Lenghe's disdainful look, Master Huaiji formed a hand seal, and a wisp of black energy appeared out of thin air.

Xie Tianlin felt a powerful surge of resentment rushing towards them. He tried to stop it, but his body was completely immobile.

The shadowy figure, resembling a human, materialized into a hand and reached out to grab Su Lenghe.

As the evil creature drew ever closer, Xie Tianlin was greatly alarmed.

Evil creatures have no sense of martial ethics; they will kill without hesitation. In the current situation, it is likely that both of them will be wiped out.

If he can move freely, he can buy some time and perhaps find an opportunity to escape.

He was frozen in place and could only watch helplessly as the evil creature made its move.

Xie Tianlin was so anxious that his mouth was bubbling with anxiety. Just at the critical moment, Su Lenghe, who was standing calmly to the side, quickly made a move and pulled him away.

Then...

The evil creature's arm was held in Su Lenghe's hand.

The evil creature struggled desperately, eventually severing its arm and tail in an attempt to survive.

Xie Tianlin's eyes nearly popped out of their sockets; it was the first time he had ever seen anything like this.

He wasn't sure if it was just his imagination, but he seemed to see the twisted and hideous face of the evil creature.

His mind went blank, and he doubted his own eyes as Su Lenghe pulled off a part of the evil object.

The evil creature, however, did not want to fight and moved towards the window, attempting to escape.

Su Lenghe's voice was icy: "Where do you think you're going!"

A talisman was unleashed and affixed to the window, causing the evil spirit to bounce back to the ground, where it shook out some of its resentment.

Seeing that things were not going well, Master Huaiji summoned the villagers to surround the house, planning to escape in the chaos.

He crept towards Xie Tianlin, grabbed Xie Tianlin's neck, and whispered, "Help me get out of here, or I'll kill you."

With a flick of her two fingers, Su Lenghe instantly turned the talismans on Xie Tianlin's body into dust.

The next second, Master Huaiji's voice stopped abruptly. Xie Tianlin had placed a talisman on him, rendering Master Huaiji unable to move.

Xie Tianlin said, "This evil Taoist has been captured alive. You must be careful of evil spirits."

Master Huaiji then realized that Xie Tianlin's immobilization was merely a scheme to lower his guard and then capture him alive.

No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't move. Master Huaiji was both angry and annoyed: "Why can't I move?"

Xie Tianlin gave him a look that said, "This is a magic spell that freezes you in place."
