Chapter 50 The Birthday Banquet Farce

Su Xueying noticed that her fiancé's eyes were glued to Su Lenghe, and jealousy burned within her as she gripped her skirt tightly with her fingers.

"Tear—" The already fragile fabric was ripped open by her newly done manicure.

She was completely unaware that her pearly teeth had unconsciously bitten a gash into her lower lip.

Su Lenghe!

Shouldn't she be wearing cheap clothes and being ridiculed at the banquet?

How could she! How could she dress so beautifully!

She should be the one in the limelight today, so why has Su Lenghe become the focus of the entire event?

Su Xueying's jealousy was undisguised; she wished she could tear Su Lenghe apart.

Noticing Su Xueying's loss of composure, Su's mother stood up and gently pulled her hand, saying in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Don't worry, Mom will handle it."

After all, experience counts, and Su Xueying quickly realized her lapse in composure, her face regaining its gentle expression.

Su Xueying said gently, "Ayu, I'll go over there."

Feng Yu remained silent, her gaze never leaving Su Lenghe.

Mrs. Su walked onto the stage, holding the microphone: "I am honored that everyone is here today to attend my fiftieth birthday banquet..."

After the speeches, the gift-giving session began, and the value of the gifts varied depending on the closeness of the relationship.

Some gave money, others gave gold and silver jewelry. Su Xueying gave a jade pendant she bought from Qingfeng Pavilion. Its color was warm and its design was intricate, which amazed many people.

"This jade pendant is really beautiful; it looks very valuable."

“Wait a minute, I feel like this jade is fake.” Dai Qingyi said with a sneer. He liked to play with jade and was a rival of the Su family, so he finally got a chance to humiliate them.

The person who spoke first felt that this person was deliberately contradicting him and said irritably, "How could that be? Would your own daughter buy counterfeit goods? If you don't understand, then don't speak."

"It's fake, I'm absolutely certain I'm not mistaken." Dai Qing's voice was a little loud from his excitement, immediately attracting the attention of those around him.

"Old Li, you be the judge, is that jade fake?" Dai Qing said gloatingly.

Old Li, who was stopped, glanced at him and said ambiguously, "It's someone's birthday, so keep it to yourself."

Although he didn't admit it, he didn't refute it either; a smart person would immediately understand what was going on.

Dai Qing laughed heartily: "The Su family really cares a lot about face."

The Su family invited Dai Qing to show him their grandeur, intending to flaunt their wealth. Dai Qing had been so jealous before, but seeing this scene, he realized the Su family was nothing special.

The commotion here was minor and would have passed quickly, but Su's mother wanted to embarrass Dai Qing, so she took the microphone and said, "Boss Dai, all guests are welcome; spreading rumors is not allowed."

“I’m not making this up,” Dai Qing said.

Everyone turned to look at her, but Su Xueying unconsciously clenched her fists. She shook her head frantically at her mother, begging her not to say anything more.

The jade pendant was bought from Qingfeng Pavilion. The Taoist priest said that although the jade was fake, it was blessed by his Taoist magic, so no one could tell the difference. She bought it because it was cheap, but she didn't expect that people would still find out.

Su Xueying felt guilty and broke out in a cold sweat. Her mother saw her actions and was afraid that she would make a big fuss and ruin her birthday banquet. She felt a warmth in her heart and was determined not to let her daughter suffer.

Su's mother gave Su Xueying a reassuring look, then challenged, "Why doesn't the boss come up and take a look for himself?"

Dai Qing walked down to the stage, squinted and examined it carefully, confirming that he was not mistaken: "This jade is man-made. Take a piece of inferior jade, soak it in acid and it will show a translucent appearance."

"But a fake is a fake. The luster is wrong, and it's bad for your health if you wear it. There's no need to pretend you're something you're not."

Seeing Dai Qing's confident demeanor, Su's mother became anxious and quickly sought a DNA test, but the result was the same.

Seeing this dramatic scene, everyone's faces were tense, but in this situation, no one wanted to really break off relations.

Su Xueying, her face pale and on the verge of tears, said, "Mom, I'm sorry, I was lied to."

Su's mother was so angry that her head was spinning. Her face was pale as she said softly, "It's okay, Mom doesn't blame you."

Mr. Su glanced at her with disdain. "At your age, you still can't keep your composure. This matter could have been left behind, but you had to say it in public. Come down. Don't embarrass yourself."

Although she had made a fool of herself, there was still a way to save face. Su's mother took a deep breath and put on a polite smile: "There are still gifts I haven't finished looking at."

Su Lenghe bought a large piece of jade, which would definitely stun these people.

The last gift was from Su Lenghe. The order in which the gifts were announced was arranged by Su's mother. The person who announced the gifts earlier even asked if they wanted to skip it. Su's mother said in a tone of exasperation, "Can't you understand human language?"

The staff member who was about to explain the situation said nothing. When he read out the gift list, his lips twitched: "Su Lenghe, three cleansing talismans."

Li Mengping's eyes widened, somewhat disbelieving her ears: "You just gave me this?"

Su Lenghe said frankly, "Their whole family has had bad luck, so this is very useful."

This talisman is not meant to help the Su family; it has other purposes.

Li Mengping silently gave a thumbs up; these words, coming from Su Lenghe's mouth, seemed to make perfect sense.

Upon hearing the gift list, Su's mother doubted her ears. She snatched the list, and upon seeing what was written on it, she was so angry that she almost fell over, but Su's father pulled her down.

"My wife isn't feeling well today, so please enjoy your meal." After saying this, Mr. Su took Mrs. Su's hand and went backstage.
