Chapter 27 The Black Wood Offering

They sneaked in; they can't be discovered.

Su Lenghe looked up and saw Xu Ziming, whom she had video chatted with before. He also looked back, his gaze quickly sweeping over Su Lenghe and Rong Yan's faces before moving away, his eyes filled with unfamiliarity.

Rong Yan then realized that what others saw was different from what he and Su Lenghe saw.

He realized that no one inside recognized him, and that they had already disguised themselves.

A middle-aged Taoist priest stood in the garden, ringing a copper bell, attracting everyone's attention.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we have something good here today. The highest bidder wins."

Two young Taoist priests carried in a table. In the center of the table was a protrusion covered with something covered by red silk. The table was very heavy and made a loud thud when it hit the ground, but the thing remained firmly on the table, as if it were grown on it.

Xu Ziming asked curiously, "Master, what is this?"

The old Taoist priest said mysteriously, "You'll see when you look."

The red silk was torn off, revealing a small altar on the table. On it was a piece of black wood, resembling a human figure, but without a face.

The wood looked charred, as if it had been burned in a fire.

Rong Yan shivered, feeling inexplicably cold all over. He looked up at the bright sun but couldn't feel any warmth at all.

Su Lenghe's cold eyes fell on the black wood, where thick black energy surged like boiling water.

Suddenly, she felt a tightness in her clothes. Looking down, she saw Rong Yan tugging at her sleeve: "Master Su, what's wrong with them? They seem to have been possessed."

Su Lenghe glanced to the side and saw that Xu Ziming and the others were staring intently at Hei Mu, who looked like a piece of wood.

She told the truth: "I was indeed possessed."

Rong Yan exclaimed, "What...what do we do? They won't die, will they?"

Su Lenghe said calmly, "Not for now, but there's something you need to know."

Just as Rong Yan was about to ask what was going on, he saw the old Taoist priest holding up a copper bell and shaking it at them.

Su Lenghe and Rong Yan remained calm and unaffected. The old Taoist priest suspected something was wrong with the item and turned it around to shake towards Zi Mo and the others.

Xu Ziming and the others struggled, clutching their heads and howling in pain, with the veins on their foreheads clearly visible.

There's nothing wrong with this thing, so why aren't those two reacting?

Could it be that I mispronounced the incantation?

The old Taoist priest turned the copper bell around and shook it at Su Lenghe, but the two of them still did not react.

A bead of cold sweat trickled down his forehead. What was going on today?

Rong Yan silently took two steps closer to Su Lenghe, thinking it was safer to stay by Master Su's side.

Two young Taoist priests walked behind the old Taoist priest, holding up copper coin swords, and said sternly to Su Lenghe, "Where did you come from, daring to sneak into our Qingfeng Pavilion?"

Su Lenghe: "Naturally, it's to drive away evil spirits."
