Chapter 145 Meeting the Parents (Part 2)

When Su Yan heard her question, she answered in an orderly manner that it was a school that was not well-known in China.

Yi An was a little surprised that she didn't tell her she had returned from abroad, but she didn't say anything.

After all, the worse Su Yan's conditions are, the stronger the impact on Meng Jie will be, which is exactly what he wants to see.

Before Meng Jie could respond, Lin Hui reacted very strongly.

"So that's which school Miss Su graduated from. What a coincidence! I graduated from M University nearby. Perhaps we've met before."

Su Yan sneered inwardly. Lin Hui's boasting was obvious; M University was worlds apart from the school she had mentioned.

"Ms. Lin is a graduate of M University, she is truly a high achiever."

She gave Lin Hui a couple of replies, making sure she gave her face.

Meng Jie didn't offer an evaluation, but continued to ask, "What do your parents do?"

“My parents divorced, and I lived with my father, who was a carpenter.”

Meng Jie finally showed a reaction to these words, but it was unclear whether it was because her parents were divorced or because her father was just a carpenter.

Lin Hui chuckled to herself. It turned out her family were just carpenters. She thought they were something special. They weren't even worthy of carrying her shoes.

Su Yan took in Lin Hui's expression, smiled faintly and looked away, only to meet Meng Jie's scrutinizing eyes.

Meng Jie: "I heard Miss Su also got divorced?"

Su Yan answered crisply and without any pretense.

"yes."

Meng Jie raised an eyebrow. "Does Miss Su know that our Yi'an is still unmarried?"

Why did Su Yan interpret those words as implying superiority?

What's wrong with getting a divorce? Is divorce illegal?

Su Yan nodded knowingly, "Auntie, I know An'an very well."

That "An'an" almost killed Yi'an; she choked on her tea.

He vomited it out and coughed violently.

While comforting him with heartache, Su Yan said to Meng Jie, "I not only know that Yi An is unmarried, but I also know that Yi An has a son."

Meng Jie narrowed her eyes slightly, waiting for her to continue.

Seeing that Yi An had stopped coughing, Su Yan turned around and finished speaking.

"My dad's very conservative. If he finds out about having a child out of wedlock, he'll definitely break one of my legs. But what can I do? I love Yi'an. And Yi'an is willing to risk breaking her leg for me, right?"

Yi An looked at the look in her eyes, unsure whether she was telling the truth or not, and smiled in agreement.

"I'd give my life for you."

These disgusting words almost made Su Yan vomit, and even Yi An nearly vomited.

He forced himself to swallow his words, suppressing his nausea.

The two people sitting in the living room, Lin Hui's face was pale with anger, and although Meng Jie didn't show any obvious change, it was clear that she was different from Su Yan's relaxed state when she entered the room.

But Su Yan never expected that the one who stood up to oppose the marriage was neither Lin Hui nor Meng Jie, but Yi Kangle, who had been eavesdropping in the shadows.

Suddenly, Yi Kangle jumped out and, before anyone could react, grabbed a teacup from the table and threw it at Su Yan.

Su Yan instinctively raised her hand to block, and the teacup hit her wrist, sending a sharp pain through her.

She cried out in pain, and Yi An immediately looked over with concern. Seeing that her wrist was red and swollen, she looked at Yi Kangle with a stern face.

"Xiao Bao, what are you doing!"

Yi Kangle was stunned when Yi An spoke to him so harshly, and then the mist quickly condensed.

Seeing his aggrieved and tearful appearance, Yi An's heart softened immediately, realizing that her words had been too harsh.

"Xiaobao, how could you treat Auntie like this? Auntie is in so much pain!"

Seeing Yi Kang's puffed-up little face, looking at her as if she were an enemy, Su Yan immediately realized that the child thought she had come to steal his father.

She tugged at Yi An, wanting to speak up for her, but before she could say anything, Meng Jie beat her to it.

"Miss Su, you won't mind if the child misbehaves, will you?"

If Su Yan were to say she minded after being asked that, it would seem as if she were picking on a child.

Su Yan originally intended to let it go, but upon hearing these words, her anger flared up.

She touched her wrist, which had already started to turn red and swollen, and smiled.

"What does a child know? There's a saying that goes, 'If a child is not taught, it is the father's fault.' Why should I care about such a small thing with a child?"

Meng Jie immediately laughed, "What a sharp tongue you have! Now I understand how Yi An was captivated by you."

Su Yan: "To say I'm captivated is an overstatement, Auntie. I'm not some vixen, why would I play any tricks to bewitch people?"

Meng Jie: "It's good that you have self-awareness."

The two exchanged words, and the atmosphere instantly became tense.

Yi Kangle's trembling little body erupted once again.

He rushed over and punched Su Yan with his little fist.

"You wicked woman, get out of here! I don't like you, don't try to steal my dad!"

His little fists may not look big, but they can be quite powerful when they hit.

Su Yan felt her arm hurt even more and instinctively hid behind Yi An.

This action further provoked Yi Kangle, who, while crying, gritted his teeth and rushed forward to hit him, and no matter how Yi An tried to stop him, he couldn't.

Lin Hui watched smugly, wondering how Su Yan could still be so arrogant.

Let alone Meng Jie, Su Yan couldn't even get past Yi Kangle!

The resentment and injustice that had been weighing on Lin Hui's chest vanished completely, leaving her feeling extremely relieved.

Yi An didn't know why Yi Kangle was suddenly being so rude. He had reached his limit and couldn't take it anymore.

He grabbed Yi Kangle and angrily scolded him without any politeness: "How can you be so rude? Who taught you that!"

Who knew that after that shout, Yi Kangle suddenly burst into tears.

"I hate Daddy! I hate Daddy!"

His crying startled Yi'an.

Looking at the chaotic situation, Su Yan said to Yi An, "You should sort out your family conflicts first before coming to see me."

After saying that, she didn't give Yi An a chance to speak, got up and left without even acknowledging Meng Jie.

Meng Jie stood by and watched, all in order to force her to leave.

Today, Yi Kangle suddenly acted strangely and lashed out at her. It was either Meng Jie's doing or Lin Hui's doing; these two are inextricably linked.

Using a child to force her out? They actually resorted to such despicable tactics.

She'll show them the consequences of their actions; it will only make the men they cherish humble themselves and come to her.

After Su Yan left, Yi Kangle's emotions gradually stabilized.

He held Yi'an tightly, sobbing, "Daddy, don't marry that bad woman. If Daddy marries a bad woman, he won't want Xiaobao anymore. Xiaobao won't let Daddy marry a bad woman!"

Yi'an was a little confused when she heard this. "How could Xiao Bao's father not want you? Who told you that Daddy has another aunt and doesn't want Xiao Bao anymore?"
