"I got my hands on that limited edition butterfly pendant."
Yi'an held the butterfly pendant in her hand, admiring it repeatedly.
On the other end of the phone, Zhao Bo replied dismissively, "Congratulations! You abandoned such a big company for me just to get some crappy butterfly pendant. You're something else!"
Yi'an listened to his "praise" and smiled with her head down.
"I want to give this precious gift to the most important woman in my life."
Zhao Bo immediately replied, "Ms. Meng?"
Yi An's expression suddenly changed. "Get out! What Ms. Meng!"
Hearing the change in his tone, Zhao Bo chuckled mischievously, "Tell me, you're a staunch bachelor, where are you going to find the most important woman? In the end, isn't the most important one your mother, Ms. Meng?"
"Go away! Just because I'm single doesn't mean I won't meet someone!" Yi An muttered. "What if I meet the most important person in my life? Maybe then I won't be single anymore."
The sudden sound of a car horn startled Yi An from his reverie. He turned his head and glanced at the butterfly pendant around Su Yan's neck, and the corners of his mouth unconsciously curved up.
"Su Xiaoyu finally did something decent."
He started the car with a smile and drove towards the Yi family villa.
The Yi family villa at this time.
Yi Kangle, holding Su Xiaoyu's hand, excitedly ran out of the car and into the house.
"Xiaoyu, this is my home!"
Following her words, Su Xiaoyu looked around the room. Although her expression didn't change, her eyes were full of amazement.
She was so distracted by what she saw that she bumped into someone.
Meng Jie frowned as she looked at the unfamiliar young girl in front of her who was walking right up to her.
She watched as Su Xiaoyu raised her head and looked at her questioningly.
Forget about apologizing, he didn't even show the slightest hint of remorse on his face.
"Who are you?" Meng Jie asked.
Yi Kangle hurriedly stepped forward and stood in front of Su Xiaoyu.
"Grandma, she's my good friend. I invited her to my birthday party. Please don't be angry, Grandma."
It was rare for Meng Jie to see Yi Kangle defend someone like this.
You should know that when Yi Kangle sees her, he's like a mouse seeing a cat, running away as fast as he can, let alone daring to come up and talk to her.
Meng Jie was happy about Yi Kangle's change.
She didn't make things difficult for Su Xiaoyu and agreed, "You two can go upstairs and play."
"Thank you, Grandma."
Yi Kangle quietly breathed a sigh of relief and pulled Su Xiaoyu's hand to run upstairs.
As Su Xiaoyu was being pulled upstairs, she looked back at Meng Jie standing below, her eyes filled with an unreadable emotion.
Meng Jie didn't turn around, so she naturally didn't notice her gaze.
Meng Jie went straight to the kitchen and asked Wu Fen, "Is he back?"
Wu Fen was stunned for a moment before she realized what was happening.
She stopped what she was doing. "Madam, the master just called and said he has something to do and can't come back in time."
As she spoke, she observed Meng Jie's expression.
Meng Jie's expression turned noticeably colder. "Does he think this is some ordinary gathering? He can just say he's not coming and then just walk away. Did he never think about Xiao Bao and this family before he spoke?"
Wu Fen knew from hearing so much from her that she was angry, and it was more than just anger.
Meng Jie didn't say anything more, turned around and went upstairs.
Wu Fen watched her retreating figure with concern, then turned to the maid behind her and instructed, "Make a cup of chrysanthemum tea immediately."
As soon as Meng Jie entered the study, she immediately dialed Yi Ruihua's number.
"Where are you?"
She started by asking a question.
Yi Ruihua glanced at the person sitting next to her, deliberately moved aside, and lowered her voice to reply, "I'm in a meeting out of town and can't make it back. You can arrange Xiaobao's birthday party all by yourself."
"Out of town?"
Meng Jie sneered, directly exposing his lie: "It's with her, isn't it?"
Yi Ruihua looked embarrassed and tried to get up to go somewhere else, but He Yunxin pulled him down beside her.
"Where are you going? Tell me right here!"
Ignoring Meng Jie on the other end of the phone, He Yunxin loudly gave the order.
This seems more like a provocation to Meng Jie.
Meng Jie's expression remained unchanged, but her grip on her phone tightened slightly.
"No need to say anything more, you must come back today."
She said that and hung up the phone without waiting for Yi Ruihua's reply.
Meng Jie tossed the phone onto the table, poured herself a glass of red wine, and was about to gulp it down.
Before it could even be put into its mouth, a small, white, and tender hand suddenly reached out.
Meng Jie stared blankly at the milk candy clutched in her little hand.
She slowly raised her head and met Su Xiaoyu's gaze.
Those large, dark, bright eyes held no fear, nor any emotion; they were as pure as a clear spring.
Meng Jie didn't take the candy. Instead, she put on a stern face and questioned, "Who let you in? Is this how your parents raised you?"
Su Xiaoyu tilted her head and thought for a moment, but her gaze remained fixed on Meng Jie's face.
She stepped forward slowly and placed the candy into Meng Jie's hand.
As Meng Jie stared blankly at the candy in her hand, a soft, comforting voice came from beside her: "Grandma, don't be sad."
One sentence made Meng Jie freeze on the spot.
Su Xiaoyu glanced at her, then turned and ran out.
Wu Fen, who was going upstairs to deliver chrysanthemum tea, bumped into her. "Why aren't you playing with Xiaobao in your room? What are you doing here?"
She asked anxiously, but Su Xiaoyu didn't answer and turned and ran away.
Wu Fen paused for a moment, then hurriedly ran into the study with the chrysanthemum tea in her hand.
