After busying herself in the kitchen and reminding everyone to do their jobs, Wu Fen finally felt at ease and carried the cooked millet porridge upstairs.
She knocked on the study door and went in. Meng Jie was engrossed in her work.
The gold-rimmed glasses on Meng Jie's face made her look even more serious and meticulous.
At this moment, Meng Jie had returned to her usual self, holding meetings in an orderly manner and giving instructions on important company matters.
If it weren't for her slightly pale complexion, one would truly believe that last night's birthday party had no effect on her at all.
As Wu Fen approached with the millet porridge, the closer she got, the more clearly her weakness and exhaustion became apparent.
Hearing the noise, Meng Jie glanced at her and then winked at the table next to her, indicating that the millet porridge should be placed there.
Wu Fen obediently placed the millet porridge there, but did not leave, standing there quietly without making a sound.
Meng Jie was focused on the meeting in front of her, and every now and then her face would turn cold and she would angrily reprimand and scold all the employees so much that they didn't dare to lift their heads.
When she finished the meeting, she looked up wearily and realized that Wu Fen was still there.
Why didn't you leave?
Wu Fen didn't answer her, but stepped forward, mixed the millet porridge, and handed it to her.
"Madam, the temperature is just right for you to drink."
Meng Jie instinctively wanted to refuse, but seeing her insistent expression, she sighed and took the millet porridge.
Wu Fen watched as she ate bite by bite, and only then did a relieved smile appear on her face.
"Madam, no matter how busy the company is, you can't neglect your health."
She tried to persuade Meng Jie with all her heart, but Meng Jie just let it go in one ear and out the other, even eating that bowl of millet porridge became a perfunctory act.
Meng Jie quickly ate a bowl of millet porridge, casually wiped the corner of her mouth, and then lowered her head to deal with the mountain of documents piled up at her side.
Seeing that she couldn't persuade her, Wu Fen had no choice but to give up, sighed, and turned to walk out.
Before I could even step out of the door, a loud crash came from downstairs.
Wu Fen felt her heart skip a beat, and when she came to her senses, she touched her chest with lingering fear.
Meng Jie was also affected by this sound, and she frowned and looked up.
"Go see what's going on downstairs!"
Wu Fen nodded hurriedly and went out. When she reached the stairwell, she was about to scold him when she was startled by the scene before her.
The once tidy living room was now piled with luggage, making it look messy.
The marble floor, so clean it reflected a person's image, was now covered with large, dark footprints left by people carrying luggage, a shocking sight.
Wu Fen's face turned serious. She quickly walked downstairs and questioned the person closest to her.
"Who are you? Do you even know where you are? How dare you just barge in like this!"
The people being questioned were intimidated by her imposing words, and they looked at each other, hesitant to answer.
However, someone heard Wu Fen's voice and slowly walked over.
"This is my home, I'm going home, what's wrong with that?"
Wu Fen stared blankly at the arrogant He Yunxin in front of her, only then belatedly remembering the family meeting last night.
She hadn't taken it seriously at first, but she hadn't expected some people to be so impatient and eager to step inside.
He Yunxin glanced at Wu Fen with disdain, "As for you, a mere servant, you dare to speak to me!"
Wu Fen's face turned pale. She wanted to retort, but after thinking for a long time, she couldn't say anything.
Just as the two were at an impasse, Meng Jie's voice came from the stairwell.
"What's wrong?"
Meng Jie walked down slowly, and when her gaze met He Yunxin's, she visibly paused for a second.
When He Yunxin saw Meng Jie, her eyes lit up with smugness.
She walked forward with a charming smile, "I thought my sister wasn't home!"
Hearing her sarcastic address, Meng Jie coldly turned her gaze away and angrily rebuked Wu Fen, "How are you managing things? How can just any random thing be allowed into the Yi family!"
Wu Fen immediately understood the meaning behind Meng Jie's words and turned to shoo away the idle people in the living room.
"Get out of here! Didn't you hear what the mistress said? Get out of here right now!"
After all the people carrying luggage had been driven out, she slowly walked up to He Yunxin.
"Ms. He, your room has been prepared. Please return to your room."
He Yunxin couldn't keep up the smile on her face as she listened to their back-and-forth banter, which was both open and subtle, about her status.
"No need for you to invite me! I'll go back to my room on my own. Now I want to tour my new home."
She took a couple of steps, then remembered something and turned to Wu Fen, instructing, "By the way, I won't stay in the room you prepared for me. Ruihua is very picky about rooms, beds, and even the people sleeping next to him. You know him well, so I'll go and choose one myself."
After saying that, she ignored Wu Fen's expression and what she was going to say, and quickly went up the stairs.
He Yunxin searched room by room until she stopped at the door of the room where Meng Jie and Yi Ruihua had originally lived.
"I want this room. Clean it up for me."
When Wu Fen saw her pointing to this room, she knew perfectly well that she was doing it on purpose, and immediately refused: "This room won't do!"
He Yunxin turned her head, looked past Wu Fen, and casually placed her gaze on Meng Jie behind her.
"Anyway, the original owner didn't need it, it's such a waste to just leave it there. Don't you think so, little sister?"
Wu Fen couldn't bear to listen to these blatantly provocative words any longer.
"He Yunxin, you've gone too far! Who do you think you are...?"
