Chapter 240 Why is it still biting?

Qiao Chen was so frightened that she froze on the spot, and silently withdrew her outstretched hand.

He just wanted to help them out, so why is he acting like he's about to bite?

Yi An, panting heavily, glanced at everyone with feigned composure, her gaze finally settling on Bao Han.

"Uncle is giving you one last chance. Tell the truth: did you fall down on your own, or did Xiaoyu push you down?"

Bao Han glanced at Feng Lin fearfully, unsure of what to say.

Feng Lin became anxious when she saw his timid expression.

"Just say what you have to say, what are you afraid of!"

Bao Han moved his lips, about to speak, when Yi An interrupted him again.

"Hanhan, let me remind you one more time. Whether you're telling the truth or lying is easy to verify. Although checking the surveillance footage is a bit troublesome, there are so many uncles and aunties here, surely someone will know how. Hanhan, you'll definitely be a good boy who tells the truth and doesn't lie, right?"

Under Yi An's repeated prompting, Bao Han whispered with a sob in his voice, "I fell down by myself."

Upon hearing this, Yi An immediately breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at Feng Lin triumphantly.

"Miss Feng, the truth is now out."

Under everyone's gaze, Feng Lin's face turned pale and then flushed, and she stood frozen in place, not knowing what to say.

Seeing that the atmosphere was not right, Zhao Bo took the initiative to step in and defuse the situation.

"Alright, alright, everyone says it's just the two kids playing around, one of them is just being stubborn, let's not take it to heart and everyone can go home!"

He dispersed the rest of the people and carefully helped Feng Lin up.

"Linlin must be thirsty, let's go over there and get some drinks."

Feng Lin glared at the disappointing Bao Han, then turned and left.

She was so ashamed that she wanted to disappear into the ground.

Zhao Bo watched her angrily leave, feeling awkward, and then took care of the rest of the matter for her.

He chuckled awkwardly and bowed to Su Yan in apology: "Su Yan, I'm sorry. She was only thinking of the child and acted a bit too aggressively. Please don't mind."

Only after Su Yan said she was alright did he go after Feng Lin again.

Su Yan didn't seem to care much about whether Feng Lin apologized or not; her focus was now on Su Xiaoyu.

"Xiaoyu, Mom doesn't know..."

Before she could finish speaking, Su Xiaoyu walked right past her, as if she hadn't seen her at all.

Yi Kangle's face was full of grievances. He wanted to pursue Su Xiaoyu, but then hesitated and stopped.

"Aunt Su Yan, why don't you believe Xiaoyu even once?"

After he finished speaking, he hurriedly chased after Xiaoyu.

These words deeply moved Su Yan, and her eyelashes began to tremble uncontrollably.

A sore sensation seemed to rise in her nose, which she couldn't bear, so she rushed out the door.

Only after everyone had returned to normal did Yi'an dare to breathe a sigh of relief.

"Can we plug it in later? I'll cover the electricity bill, okay?"

Duan Sisi looked at him apologetically, "Mr. Yi, I'm so sorry."

Yi An didn't feel embarrassed about it; she was just afraid that her face had almost been slapped and hurt.

"It's alright now."

He waved his hand weakly and turned to look for Su Yan, only to find that there was no one there.

Yi An walked around the store before finally spotting Su Yan standing outside.

He pushed open the door in confusion and went over, only to find her looking up at the dark, starless night sky.

The light from the streetlamp fell directly on her face, softening her features and illuminating the glistening tears in her eyes.

Yi An was stunned for a moment, then rushed forward in a panic.

"What’s wrong with you?"

Su Yan took a deep breath, forcing back the tears in her eyes, and said, pretending to be fine, "It's nothing, I just feel a little stuffy."

Although Yi'an heard her say that, her face, full of worry, clearly showed three words: I have something to do!

"Is it because of Xiaoyu?"

Su Yan's emotions crumbled again when she heard the name Xiaoyu.

She didn't dare to speak, afraid that her trembling voice would arouse Yi An's suspicion.

Little did she know, Yi'an had already seen through her thoughts.

"Xiaoyu's incident was an accident, and any normal person would think that way, especially since you are a mother of two, so there is no need for you to blame yourself."

These words did nothing to comfort Su Yan; her eyes welled up with tears whenever she thought of Yi Kangle's words.

Why does she never believe Xiaoyu? Does she think Xiaoyu is an untrustworthy child?

"I am not a good mother."

Seeing that the more Yi'an tried to persuade her, the more emotionally distraught she became, she started to panic.

After thinking for a while, he said to Su Yan, "Wait here for a moment, I'll get something for you."

Su Yan turned her head blankly, wanting to ask something, but could only see his hurried departure.

Not long after, Yi'an returned carrying a carefully wrapped box.

He cleared his throat and casually handed the box to Su Yan.

"Here, take this."

"What is this?" Su Yan took it and examined it for a moment, guessing, "Is it a birthday present for Hanhan and Xiaoyu?"

Yi An licked her slightly dry lips and said awkwardly, "It's not for them, it's for you."

Su Yan was completely stunned.

"For me? Why for me?"

Yi An hesitated for a moment, then turned to look at her and explained earnestly, word by word, "Because I feel that on this day, you deserve a gift even more."

Su Yan felt a tremor run through her body as she saw the sincerity in his eyes.

Seeing her frozen expression, Yi An immediately felt embarrassed again.

He quickly turned his head, trying to save face for himself.

"Oh dear, I was just passing by the mall, I saw it by chance, and bought it on a whim. What I said was just casual talk, please don't..."

Amid his rambling explanation, a soft voice suddenly came through: "Thank you, I like it very much."

Yi An's words caught in his throat. He stiffened for a moment, then his mouth began to stretch uncontrollably into a wide grin that reached almost to his ears.

He turned his head away, trying to appear calm, and said, "If you like it, then it wasn't a waste of time."

After a moment of silence, Yi An slowly spoke again.

“Actually, you’ve done a great job. You’ve raised Xiaoyu alone, living abroad, and also had the burden and responsibility of finding Chenchen. You’ve raised Xiaoyu to be beautiful and clean, and given her almost everything you have. You’ve done a great job.”

Su Yan gently shook her head, "But for Xiaoyu, I'm not a qualified mother yet."

"You're not a saint, how can you do everything perfectly! Even if you made a mistake, you can make up for it later, right? What are you sighing about here for? Don't forget it's Xiaoyu's birthday today!"

Upon hearing this, Su Yan managed to suppress her emotions.

"You're right, let's go back, it's almost time to cut the cake."
