Feng Lin sat restlessly in the coffee shop, the coffee she was clutching in her hand had gone cold, and she hadn't taken a single sip.
She looked around and finally spotted the person she was supposed to meet. She quickly stood up and greeted him, "Attorney Li, over here."
Attorney Li rushed over, full of apologies, and said, "I'm so sorry, there was a traffic jam on the way."
"It's nothing," Feng Lin said casually, then got to the point, "Attorney Li, you've seen the messages I sent you, right? What do you think? Do you think we have a chance of winning?"
Attorney Li did not answer immediately, but instead glanced at the coffee in front of Feng Lin.
Feng Lin then belatedly realized what was happening and hurriedly ordered a coffee for Attorney Li.
After his throat had been moistened by the coffee, Attorney Li slowly began to speak: "I've reviewed all the materials you sent me. Although it was intentional assault, the victim's injuries did not meet the criteria for minor injury. According to current Chinese law, there's no need for imprisonment, so please rest assured, Ms. Feng."
Feng Lin breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good. I was so scared by this whole thing that I couldn't sleep at night. With your words, Attorney Li, I'm completely relieved."
Attorney Li's expression was somewhat complicated. He then changed the subject and said, "But he probably can't escape administrative detention, and it's only natural that the other party would demand compensation."
Feng Lin's heart skipped a beat again. "How long will they be detained?"
"It depends on the specific circumstances. For mild cases, it may take less than five days, while for severe cases, it may take five to ten days."
Seeing her furrowed brows and grave expression, Attorney Li immediately added, "There's another way, without detention."
Upon hearing that there was still hope, Feng Lin hurriedly asked, "What method?"
"If both parties are willing to reach a settlement, this matter is easy to resolve."
Feng Lin's eyes quickly dimmed again. "How could that be? He definitely won't agree to a settlement."
Attorney Li: "Ms. Feng, how will you know if you don't try? This is the only way right now."
Feng Lin sighed deeply and remained silent.
After their conversation, the two parted ways. Feng Lin, preoccupied and seemingly lost in thought, wandered aimlessly along the pedestrian street.
She was preoccupied with how to persuade Zhao Bo and what kind of act she could put on to soften his heart.
Just as she was wondering what to do, she looked up and suddenly saw that familiar figure.
Feng Lin was a little stunned. She rubbed her eyes and looked again. Who else could it be but Zhao Bo, the smiling man?
How did he get here?
Just as Feng Lin was about to rush forward to stop him, Zhao Bo suddenly swayed, revealing Su Yan who was being concealed.
Feng Lin was frozen in place again, staring in shock at the sight of the two of them embracing each other, hardly believing her eyes.
How did these two end up together?
Just as the two were about to turn into the mall, Feng Lin shouted urgently, "Zhao Bo!"
Zhao Bo and Su Yan stopped abruptly and turned their heads in unison to look over.
The moment he caught sight of Feng Lin, a flicker of panic crossed Zhao Bo's face. He instinctively tried to pull his hand away from Su Yan's, but Su Yan pressed it down.
"What's there to be afraid of!" Su Yan said unhappily.
"It's not fear."
As Zhao Bo explained, he tried to pull his hand back.
Feng Lin took in the two's subtle actions, and when she saw the barely concealed panic on Zhao Bo's face, a sudden surge of anger ignited within her.
She strode over and demanded sharply, "Zhao Bo, what are you doing!"
Su Yan pulled Zhao Bo's hand back, intertwined her fingers with his tightly, and pretended to have just noticed Feng Lin, greeting her with a light smile.
"So it's Miss Feng, what a coincidence."
"Coincidence? What a coincidence!" Feng Lin sneered. "If it weren't for the coincidence, how could I have seen through you two scumbags! Don't tell me you've only just gotten together!"
She glanced coldly at their tightly clasped hands, her face contorted with rage.
Zhao Bo cleared his throat and offered a vague explanation: "We're really not what you think."
Before Feng Lin could speak, Su Yan interrupted her.
"How could that not be true! Zhao Bo, that's not what you told me before!"
She pointed angrily at Feng Lin and shouted, "Tell her clearly what our relationship is!"
Following this, Feng Lin turned her gaze to Zhao Bo, waiting for his answer with a cold expression.
Zhao Bo pretended to think hard for a while, then gritted his teeth, closed his eyes, and said, "Feng Lin, we're together!"
Su Yan smugly provoked Feng Lin: "How about that? Did you hear that?"
"You're shameless! You're a mistress, and you still dare to be so smug! I'll beat you to death!"
Feng Lin raised her hand to strike Su Yan, but before it could land, Zhao Bo grabbed her hand.
Feng Lin looked at Zhao Bo with a mixture of shame and anger, "Zhao Bo, I thought you had some ambition, but I didn't expect your taste to get lower and lower. Now you don't even mind the mother of your child."
Zhao Bo unceremoniously shoved her arm aside, his face full of disgust.
"Feng Lin, what's it to you! What's our relationship? Are you sick in the head, being sarcastic and jealous?"
Su Yan chimed in, "That's right, we're both single, it's perfectly normal for us to get together because we're attracted to each other! What right do you have to say that? It's laughable."
Feng Lin was so angry at their mocking remarks that she was trembling all over and almost fainted.
"Fine! Zhao Bo, I still had some pity for you. Now that you've cheated on me too, we're even. From now on, we're strangers! You'd better never contact me again!"
She angrily threw down those words and turned to leave.
Su Yan crossed her arms and gazed at her retreating figure with a languid expression, saying casually, "Miss Feng seems to be a little lacking in the ability to even things over?"
Feng Lin suddenly stopped and turned to glare at Su Yan.
"What else do you want to do?"
Su Yan shaved her nails. "I'm not good in any other way, but I have one good point: I'm generous. You broke up with my Bobo, and I was planning to take back the things he gave you. After all, we're not short of money; consider it giving money to a beggar."
She slowly changed the subject, "However, some things can't just be given away to others. The thought of this thing being in your hands makes me uncomfortable, and I hope Miss Feng can understand. I'm sure Miss Feng isn't the kind of disgusting person who takes something from someone and then shamelessly refuses to return it, right?"
Feng Lin's face turned pale as she listened to her veiled and overt sarcasm.
"You don't need to be sarcastic here. Just tell me what you want. I don't care!"
"That's great!"
Su Yan clapped her hands, pointed at the diamond ring on Feng Lin's ring finger, and said directly, "Give that back."
Feng Lin had completely forgotten about the diamond ring, and only after being pointed at by her did she belatedly realize it.
But the words have already been spoken, and if I don't give them to her now, who knows how much more she'll mock me.
