Chapter 263 The Consequences of Harming My Son

Zhao Libai saw Zhao Bo and the others off with a smile, and when he saw Su Xiaoyu turn around, he waved to her hurriedly.

Goodbye, Xiaoyu!

As Yi An's car slowly drove out of the Zhao family's house, the smile on Zhao Libai's face gradually faded.

He let out a long sigh, a relieved smile appearing on his face.

"I thought those photos were fake, I didn't expect they even have a child. I'm going to be a grandfather so soon."

Thinking of this, Zhao Libai couldn't help but chuckle softly.

After he had finished laughing, he slowly took out his phone from his pocket and dialed his secretary's number.

"Hello, Secretary Wu, has Sheng Feichen been released?"

After receiving an affirmative answer, his expression darkened.

“I feel that the punishment for him is not enough, and it must continue. I must let him know what the consequences are for messing with my son.”

At the amusement park, Feng Lin hurriedly found Sheng Feichen's close friend.

Have you seen Brother Chen recently?

The man paused for a moment, thought for a second, and then asked hesitantly, "Brother Chen, didn't you have a home last night?"

Feng Lin keenly sensed something. "Was he with you last night?"

The brother scratched his head sheepishly, "Sister-in-law, don't be angry. We didn't do anything wrong. We just had a few drinks together."

"And then? Where did you go?" Feng Lin asked anxiously.

"Halfway through the drink, Brother Chen left on his own, and I don't know where he went."

Feng Lin's heart sank. "Did you see him today?"

"No, I came to work as soon as I sobered up." Seeing Feng Lin's furrowed brows, the brother tentatively asked, "What's wrong, sister-in-law? Did something happen?"

Feng Lin didn't say anything, turned around and left, letting the brother call her name from behind.

After leaving the amusement park, Feng Lin didn't go home. She searched all the places Sheng Feichen frequented, but couldn't find him anywhere.

After searching all day, she was exhausted and hungry, with no strength left in her body, let alone feeling disappointed.

Feng Lin returned home dejectedly. Feng Xiuqin heard the door open and rushed over.

"Where have you been? It's been a whole day, and I haven't heard from you at all. Have you eaten?"

Feng Lin shook her head weakly, staggered to the sofa, and threw herself onto it like trash.

Seeing her like this, Feng Xiuqin felt a pang of heartache and hurriedly said, "Mom will go and cook for you right away."

She turned and walked into the kitchen when there was another urgent knocking on the door.

Feng Lin, who was sprawled on the sofa, suddenly perked up and rushed to the door. As she opened it, she shouted, "Brother Chen, you're finally back!"

But when the door opened, the person standing there was not Sheng Feichen, but a strange middle-aged woman.

The middle-aged woman was taken aback when she saw Feng Lin open the door, then frowned and asked, "Who are you?"

Feng Lin frowned as she listened to the questioning tone.

And who are you?

"I am the landlord of this house!" the middle-aged woman said matter-of-factly.

Feng Lin was startled, then a tired smile appeared on her face.

"Oh, it's the landlady. What's up? Is there anything I can help you with?"

The middle-aged woman turned her head and glanced into the room. "Where's Sheng Feichen? Tell him to come out. I have something to say to him."

Feng Lin smiled ingratiatingly, "Brother Chen isn't here. If you need anything, just tell me. I'm his girlfriend."

When the middle-aged woman heard about this relationship, her expression became noticeably strange.

"Oh, so you're his girlfriend!" she said meaningfully, then added, "Fine, it's the same as telling you. I'm not renting this place anymore, and you'd better move out immediately."

"What?!"

Feng Lin froze, as if struck by lightning. When she finally came to her senses, she stammered, "Why...why? We were living perfectly fine, why are we suddenly being asked to move?"

The landlord had no intention of explaining to her at all and simply told her to leave.

"There's no reason why, I just don't want to rent it anymore. Move out within an hour."

"An hour?!"

Feng Xiuqin, who had been eavesdropping, couldn't stand it anymore. Forgetting about the kitchen knife in her hand, she stormed out.

"You only gave us an hour, how can we move out like this? This is outrageous! Besides, why should we? Didn't we pay you rent?!"

She spoke excitedly, the cleaver in her hand swaying back and forth.

The landlord instinctively shrank back, increasing the distance between them.

"It's my house. I can rent it out if I want, and I can stop renting it out if I want. What? You want to kill me if I decide not to rent it out?"

Seeing the landlady's face turn red with anger, Feng Lin quickly tried to smooth things over: "Landlady, you've misunderstood. My mother didn't mean it that way. One hour is indeed too short. You're making things difficult for us!"

She spoke in a gentle and polite manner, trying to persuade the landlord to give them a little more time.

The landlord's expression softened considerably upon hearing her words.

"Since one hour is too short, I'll give you another hour. Move out within two hours. If you're late, don't blame me for being ruthless!"

Feng Lin was dumbfounded. It turned out that all her efforts to persuade her had only resulted in an hour's grace period.

Feng Xiuqin couldn't hold back any longer and rushed out to grab the landlord's clothes.

"How can you do this! We paid the rent and rented the house, it's all in black and white! Are you trying to bully us because you think we're easy to take advantage of? Let me tell you, I'm not someone who's so easily appeased!"
