Qiao Xiufen paced anxiously at the door of the emergency room, occasionally turning her head to hurl a curse at Duan Sisi. But Duan Sisi was too exhausted to argue with her anymore.
Su Yan rushed over and anxiously checked her over.
"Sisi, what's wrong? What happened?"
When Duan Sisi saw her, her unfocused pupils gradually regained their clarity.
She buried her face in Su Yan's arms and cried helplessly, "I'm so scared, I'm so scared!"
Su Yan had always seen Duan Sisi looking radiant and beautiful; she had never seen her in such a disheveled state before.
Her heart ached terribly, and she hugged Duan Sisi tightly to comfort her: "Don't cry, I'm here. You won't hurt you anymore. Don't be afraid."
Once Duan Sisi had calmed down a bit, Su Yan tentatively asked, "What exactly happened? Why are you and Qiao Chen like this?"
Following her question, Duan Sisi was suddenly reminded of that nightmarish experience, and her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
Tears of fear streamed down her face.

Su Yan suddenly understood something and pulled her into her arms.

Duan Sisi burst into tears in her arms, "Yan Yan, what should we do about Qiao Chen?"

Duan Sisi's parents, Duan Jingwei and Geng Ling, also rushed over.

The door to the emergency room suddenly opened, and a nurse rushed out.

Duan Jingwei immediately stepped forward and said, "I am his father-in-law, I will sign."
He quickly signed his name, "Nurse, you must save my son-in-law."

The nurse said those words and then hurriedly turned and went inside.
Duan Jingwei stood there, took a long breath, and looked completely exhausted.
Qiao Xiufen, who was kneeling on the ground, suddenly stood up and ran straight towards Duan Sisi. Without saying a word, she raised her hand and slapped Duan Sisi across the face.
"You unlucky thing! If you hadn't insisted on causing trouble, Qiao Chen wouldn't have chased after you, and he wouldn't be in this state!"
She screamed hysterically at Duan Sisi.
Duan Sisi didn't resist, she just kept crying with her head down, muttering repeatedly, "It's all my fault, it's all my fault."
How could Geng Ling stand by and watch her daughter be beaten? With red eyes, she stood up and retorted to Qiao Xiufen in an even louder voice, "Qiao Chen's mother! How could you say that! This is something no one wanted to see! You're sad, and our Sisi is sad too!"
"What are you doing at a time like this! If you kill her, will Qiao Chen be alright? Besides, even if you want revenge for Qiao Chen, you should be looking for the person who beat her, not our Sisi!"
"If it weren't for her, how could Qiao Chen have ended up like this!" Qiao Xiufen suddenly roared hysterically, her eyes fixed on Duan Sisi, gritting her teeth and threatening, "If anything happens to Qiao Chen, even if I die, I won't let you go!"
Seeing her flushed face and poor spirits, Geng Ling didn't dare to argue with her anymore and turned to comfort Duan Sisi.
"Sisi, don't listen to her, it's none of your business. Mom is here, no one dares to hurt you."
Duan Sisi didn't say anything, she just kept crying.
After a long and agonizing wait, the lights in the emergency room finally went out.
The doctor walked out looking exhausted, and everyone immediately went to greet him.
Qiao Xiufen asked anxiously, "Doctor, how is my son?"
The doctor smiled and said gently, "Don't worry, the surgery was a success, and the person has been saved. After a little more observation, they can be transferred to a ward."
Qiao Xiufen finally felt relieved, and she held onto the doctor's hand tightly, refusing to let go.
"Thank you, doctor, thank you so much."
Geng Ling also breathed a sigh of relief, faced one direction, put her hands together, closed her eyes devoutly and murmured: "Amitabha, it's good that you're alright, it's good that you're alright."
Qiao Chen was moved to a regular ward, and just as everyone was rushing to follow, Duan Sisi's phone rang.
Su Yan looked at the phone in her hand, turned to comfort Duan Jingwei and the others to go first, and answered the phone for Duan Sisi.
She walked to a window and answered the phone.
"Hello, is this Ms. Duan Sisi?"
"I'm her friend. May I ask who you are?"
“I’m from the police station. Sheng Feichen has already turned himself in.”
"Turn yourself in?!" Su Yan exclaimed in surprise. "Which police station are you from?"
After asking for directions, Su Yan turned and went into the ward.
Qiao Xiufen and Duan Sisi sat on either side of the bed, looking at the unconscious Qiao Chen, tears streaming down their faces.
Seeing his daughter and son-in-law in such a state, Duan Jingwei felt heartbroken and angrily shouted, "Don't let me catch that scoundrel who's harming people, I'll cripple him!"
Su Yan glanced in Duan Sisi's direction and tugged at Duan Jingwei's sleeve.
"Uncle, can we talk in private for a moment?"
Duan Jingwei followed Su Yan out of the ward. "What's wrong?"
Su Yan recounted all the information she had just received: "I just received a call that Sheng Feichen, who assaulted someone, has turned himself in."
"He turned himself in?!" Duan Jingwei reacted with the same shock as Su Yan. "Which police station?"
Seeing his eager expression, Su Yan immediately pulled him back.
“Uncle, please don’t get involved in this matter. You’re in a fit of anger, and if you do something carelessly that he can use against you, it won’t be good for his future sentencing. Leave this to me, and I will definitely handle it properly for you.”
Duan Jingwei thought what she said made sense. He realized that if he saw Sheng Feichen lose control of his emotions, he might not be able to do anything.
"Alright, you can handle this."
