After scolding Su Yan, Feng Xiuqin tenderly hugged Bao Han and checked him over.
"Are you hurt? Where does it hurt?"
Bao Han's little face was covered with tears of grievance as he pointed to the back of his hand, "It hurts here."
Feng Xiuqin hurriedly blew on his hands, her eyes starting to redden.
"Su Yan, you're a mother, how could you be so heartless to your own child!"
She rebuked him sharply, her words filled with dissatisfaction.
Yi An couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Auntie, watch your mouth. What happened to the child? Did the child bump or hurt himself? And you, why did you call the child over when the adults were talking?"
Feng Xiuqin turned her head and retorted, "Why can't we call him over? Doesn't Hanhan have the right to express his opinion?"
Yi An wanted to say something more, but Su Yan stopped her.
Su Yan sat there upright, her back as straight as a bamboo pole.
She said calmly, "Since you regret handing the child over to me, it's not too late to take him back now."
Feng Xiuqin was stunned by these words. She had never imagined that Su Yan would say such a thing. Wasn't the child her weakness?
She glanced at Su Yan several times, trying to glean something from her expressionless face, but to no avail.
She could only attribute the cause to Su Yan's anger towards Feng Lin, which led her to take it out on Bao Han.
Feng Xiuqin started lecturing her again, adopting an elder's tone: "Su Yan, just because of this little thing, you're going to abandon your child? How can you say such a thing? Hanhan is still here, aren't you afraid he'll be heartbroken if he hears this!"
“Auntie.” Su Yan interrupted her coldly, seemingly a little impatient with her incessant chatter, “I’ll call you Auntie one last time, and I’m reminding you to think carefully about why you’re here.”
Faced with the implicit threat in Su Yan's words, Feng Xiuqin felt no fear whatsoever. She had already planned what to say when she arrived.
She took her phone out of her bag, and the screen showed a recording interface.
"Since you won't listen to reason, I'll have to resort to force. If you don't agree to release Linlin, this recording will be on the news tomorrow. No matter whose daughter you are, you'll be condemned by everyone as a wicked woman who preys on the weak and sick."
Su Yan glanced at the phone in her hand, then suddenly smiled and chuckled.
"Do you think I'm afraid of you? You pulled this out the door in front of me, do you think you can still walk out this door?"
Her smile faded away little by little as the last word of her voice fell.
Looking at her, Feng Xiuqin felt as if she were seeing a snow-capped mountain frozen for thousands of years suddenly erupting with rolling lava.
Feng Xiuqin grabbed Bao Han's hand and subconsciously took a step back.
"You dare! If something happens to me, the police won't let you off the hook."
She threatened loudly, hoping to scare Su Yan.
Su Yan stared at her coldly without saying a word; the chill in her eyes was enough to intimidate her.
Feng Xiuqin's hands were shaking so badly that she couldn't even hold her phone, which fell to the ground and the screen shattered into static.
She knelt down again with a thud, pleading with a pained expression: "What do you want us to do! Please, have mercy on us and give my daughter a way to survive!"
Bao Han looked at Feng Xiuqin, who was kneeling and crying on the ground, with a look of horror in his small eyes. When he looked up at Su Yan, his eyes were filled with undisguised hatred.
Feng Lin's words echoed in his mind: "Hanhan, you are a man now, it's time to protect your mother and sister with your own flesh and blood."
Bao Han's gaze gradually hardened. He quickly ran towards the fruit knife on the table, and to everyone's astonishment, grabbed the fruit knife and held it to his neck.
"Don't bully my mother! Let her go! Otherwise, I'll kill myself!"
The voice was young, yet it carried a resolute tone.
When Feng Xiuqin saw this scene, her legs went numb with fear. She screamed shrilly, "Hanhan! What are you doing! Put the knife down! Put it down!"
Bao Han remained motionless, staring intently in Su Yan's direction, threatening, "If you don't release my mother and sister, I'll kill myself, and you'll have no son left!"
Each word and phrase made Yi An's heart skip a beat, let alone Su Yan's.
Yi An tentatively stepped forward and advised, "Hanhan, listen to me, put down the knife. That's not something you can play with."
As soon as Bao Han saw him approaching, he immediately recoiled warily, the knife getting even closer to his neck.
"Don't come any closer! You're all bad people, you all want to hurt my mom and sister!"
Seeing his excited expression, Yi An had no choice but to stop.
He dared not make any rash moves, for fear of startling Bao Han and causing him to do something unpredictable, but Su Yan was not afraid.
Su Yan jumped up from the sofa, pulled Yi An aside, and strode towards Bao Han.
"Su Yan!"
Yi An couldn't help but shout out behind her.
Su Yan acted as if she hadn't heard and walked straight up to Bao Han.
Bao Han was so frightened that he backed away, until she cornered him against the wall. He looked up at Su Yan timidly, threatening her again, "If you come any closer, I really will die!"
A subtle, enigmatic smile flickered in Su Yan's eyes. Suddenly, she grabbed Bao Han's hand holding the knife and pressed it against his neck.
"That's what a threat looks like, understand?"
This dangerous move caused Bao Han to scream in terror. Feng Xiuqin couldn't hold back any longer and got up to run towards them.
Before she could even get close, Su Yan shot her a cold, sharp glare.
"Try taking one more step closer."
This is what truly threatening language looks like.
Feng Xiuqin dared not doubt anything, standing trembling in place, pleading with Su Yan while repeatedly pointing out Bao Han's identity: "He's your own son! You killed him because you were angry with Linlin, what did you get in return?"
Yi An frowned. "Su Yan, put down the knife. Don't hurt the child."
Su Yan wouldn't listen to a word they said. She turned her head and casually looked at Bao Han, who was so scared that he couldn't even cry, and curled her lips into a mocking smile.
"Why are you all so nervous? I'm just teaching him how to truly threaten someone."
Su Yan slowly took the knife down and played with it in her palm.
"As expected of the children you raised, they even use the same tricks to threaten each other."
She glanced at Bao Han, then suddenly smiled gently and said, "Come on, tell Auntie, who taught you? Was it her, or your mother Feng Lin?"
Su Yan pointed at Feng Xiuqin, who was stunned by what she heard.
"How could you...?"
She blurted it out, then immediately covered her mouth in horror.
