Lin Hui was furious and flung his hand away.
"Fine, since you've chosen to protect Su Yan, you'll never see your son again!"
She threw down those harsh words, turned around, and went inside, slamming the door shut with a deafening roar.
Seeing that she was trembling with anger, Madam Lin hurriedly ran over.
"What's wrong? Can't you just talk things out instead of getting so angry!"
Lin Hui clenched her teeth, and the veins on her forehead bulged.
"Mom, find me the best lawyer right now. I'm determined to win this case and make that adulterous couple regret it for the rest of their lives!"
Shi Zhengyang's law firm.
The office staff were uneasy, whispering among themselves and occasionally turning their heads to look in the direction of Shi Zhengyang's office.
"Why did the police suddenly come? Did our lawyer, Shi, do something wrong?"
"No way, our Attorney Shi is handsome and has such a good personality. Everyone praises him. How could he do something so illegal and disorderly?"
Someone inside interrupted their conversation: "Don't talk nonsense. The police are here because of the woman who was arrested here last time. It has nothing to do with our lawyer, Shi!"
"I knew it!"
While there was much discussion outside the office, the atmosphere inside Shi Zhengyang's office was quite tense.
Shi Zhengyang glanced at the serious-looking police officers and asked with a smile, "Officers, would you like your coffee with sugar?"
The two policemen exchanged a glance and said coldly, "You think we came here just to have coffee?"
Shi Zhengyang's smile froze for a moment, then he turned to his secretary and said, "Two cups of hot tea."
After the secretary brought in two cups of hot tea and closed the office door, the police began their formal questioning.
He turned his head and glanced at the expensive decorations in the office. "Attorney Shi's business is doing very well. Offices in this area are not cheap."
The police officer taking his statement nudged him, saying, "Attorney Shi has quite a reputation in the industry."
Shi Zhengyang pretended not to notice the sarcasm in his words and said with a smile, "But you have a little reputation, and business is not bad."
The police officer cut to the chase: "Do you know Feng Lin?"
Without the slightest hesitation, Shi Zhengyang answered directly, "I know him, he's my client."
"Client?" The police officer recalled, "I remember the day you took her away, you said you weren't her lawyer yet."
Shi Zhengyang replied casually, "Perhaps I misspoke."
The police officers exchanged another meaningful glance before continuing to ask, "What kind of lawsuit does she want to file with you?"
"She said her boyfriend had been arrested for attempted rape and intentional assault, and wanted me to defend him. But I told her that this case was difficult to defend, and the outcome would not be much different from what is currently happening."
Shi Zhengyang shrugged helplessly. "Maybe she thought I was quite capable, so she entrusted this case to me."
The police officer nodded knowingly, then suddenly said, "I happen to be having a bit of trouble myself and would like to consult with Attorney Shi, but I don't know how much he should charge."
Shi Zhengyang smiled slightly, "This is easy to talk about. Let's finish discussing the current business first, and then we can chat slowly."
The police officer wasn't going to back down: "I just want an approximate price. Attorney Shi, please tell me first."
Shi Zhengyang looked at him quietly, the corners of his mouth gradually drooping.
He didn't speak, but turned around, took a document from the bookshelf, and placed it in front of the policeman.
"This is the contract that Feng Lin and I signed. Normally, this kind of thing is a trade secret, but it's good for you to have a reference."
The policeman glanced at him, then slowly picked up the contract on the table and examined it carefully, line by line.
After reviewing the contract, I couldn't find a single loophole.
He slammed the contract on the table and coldly questioned, "But why does Feng Lin say she gave you 100,000, and that you forced her to pay even more?"
Shi Zhengyang looked surprised. "Did she tell you that? No, you can check my account statements and the company's entire financial statements. If there are any problems, I will cooperate fully."
He then changed the subject, saying, "But if someone deliberately frames me and pins a label on me, I won't let it go."
The police officers exchanged glances after hearing his threatening words, and then stood up from their seats.
"Thank you for your cooperation, Attorney Shi. We will contact you again if we have any questions in the future."
"Okay," Shi Zhengyang said with a smile.
Two police officers walked out of the office one after the other. Just as they reached the elevator, they bumped into a woman wearing huge sunglasses.
They glanced at her again instinctively, then brushed past her.
Lin Hui, wearing sky-high heels, knocked on the door of Shi Zhengyang's office.
"Officer, is there anything else?"
Shi Zhengyang opened the door himself and found that the person standing at the door was not a policeman.
When Lin Hui touched his face, his pupils under his sunglasses contracted slightly before returning to normal.
"Who are you?" Shi Zhengyang asked.
Lin Hui didn't answer him. She walked straight into the office, sat on the sofa, and took off her sunglasses.
"Was that a policeman? Does that mean your law firm is about to go out of business?"
Lin Hui mocked him with a blank expression.
Shi Zhengyang walked over slowly, glanced at her face, and narrowed his eyes.
Have we met before?
Lin Hui turned her head and looked at him with a smile, "Attorney Shi, isn't this way of picking up girls a bit too old-fashioned?"
Amidst her laughter, Shi Zhengyang recalled the scene of meeting her.
"You're that designer who was removed from the list, right? You're quite famous; I've seen you on the TV news. I never imagined I'd have the honor of seeing you in person."
Shi Zhengyang smiled at her and slowly finished speaking.
Lin Hui's relaxed expression froze instantly. The incident he was referring to was the time when Su Yan had schemed against him.
"Attorney Shi, you're such a petty and narrow-minded man, always arguing and unwilling to suffer a loss! You truly live up to your reputation."
Shi Zhengyang was not annoyed that she used three derogatory terms to "praise" him; on the contrary, he felt honored.
"Miss Lin, you flatter me. Have you encountered some trouble in my humble abode today?"
When Lin Hui heard him bring up the main topic, her expression turned serious. She turned her head, took out a card from her bag, and slapped it in front of Shi Zhengyang.
"This is your fee. If you help me win this case, you will receive even more."
Shi Zhengyang glanced at the bank card on the table, but his expression remained completely unchanged.
"Can I hear what kind of case it is?"
Lin Hui said casually, "It's just a custody battle."
