Yi Kangle looked at her deeply again, then waved goodbye, saying, "Goodbye, Auntie."
He turned to leave when a furious shout came from behind him: "Xiao Bao, what are you doing!"
Upon hearing that familiar roar, Yi Kangle was instantly frozen in place, as if struck by a pressure point, his neck stiffening, and he didn't even dare to turn his head.
Lin Hui saw Su Yan and Yi Kangle standing together and immediately became anxious. Without caring about anything else, she jumped out of the car and rushed over.
Regardless of her strength, she grabbed Yi Kangle.
"Why did you run out all by yourself?!"
Su Yan saw Yi Kangle's brows furrow and her eyes instantly redden. She hurriedly said, "You hurt him!"
Lin Hui immediately turned her head and roared excitedly, "It's none of your business!"
She grabbed Yi Kangle and berated him harshly: "What did I tell you? I told you to stay home and behave yourself. What are you doing running out here!"
She was so excited that her spittle flew everywhere. Yi Kangle was so frightened by her appearance that he shrank back, let alone answer.
Seeing his timid appearance, unable to answer a single question after so long, Lin Hui was so angry that she gritted her teeth and raised her voice even higher.
"Are you deaf?!"
Yi Kangle was startled, and mist quickly gathered in his eyes.
He explained with a sob in his voice, "Mom, I just came out to pick up the ball. I didn't disobey you."
"A ball! A ball!! What's the point of picking up a ball?!"
Lin Hui knocked the ball he was holding down from his arms.
Su Yan couldn't stand it anymore and stepped forward to stop him: "He's just a child, he didn't do anything wrong, why are you shouting like that? You're scaring him, do you know that?"
Lin Hui turned her head, glaring at her with a venomous look. "Su Yan, I'm disciplining my own child, and I can discipline him however I want. It's none of your business! Are you just too idle!"
Su Yan felt as if her heart was being torn apart when she saw Yi Kangle trembling with fear.
“Treating Xiaobao like this will cause irreparable harm to his heart. He is just a child. Don’t drag a child into your adult grievances. He is innocent.”
Upon hearing this, Lin Hui sneered repeatedly.
"Su Yan, aren't you meddling too much? I can do whatever I want with my child, what can you do about it? Call the police! Sue me! No matter where you take this, it's still your fault for being nosy!"
She stared coldly at Su Yan, "And let me tell you, I not only cursed him, I hit him too!"
Lin Hui wasn't just talking; she turned around, grabbed Yi Kangle, pressed him against her knee, and slapped his buttocks repeatedly without any politeness.
While hitting you, she cursed, "You're so disobedient! You have to go up to every stranger and say a few words. Do you really think everyone is doing this for your own good? She's hurting you, do you know that?! Let's see if you'll ever learn your lesson! Can you remember what I said?!"
She got increasingly ruthless as she grew older, hitting herself until her hands hurt.
As Su Yan listened to Yi Kangle's wailing, her heart felt as if it were being stabbed repeatedly by a sharp knife.
She wanted to step forward to stop them, but hesitated.
Today's events all started because of her. If she hadn't shown up, Yi Kangle wouldn't have suffered this undeserved misfortune. If she tries to stop her now, Lin Hui won't stop; instead, she'll become even more ruthless.
Su Yan tried her best to suppress the urge to step forward and protect the child.
She took the initiative to back down: "I'll leave, I promise I'll never show my face in front of him again, please don't hit him, okay?"
Lin Hui felt incredibly relieved as she listened to her trembling plea; all the hatred she had accumulated over the past few days vanished in an instant.
She almost burst out laughing.
Lin Hui finally let Yi Kangle go, giving him a shove and warning him irritably, "Get the hell out of here! If you do it again, I'll skin you alive!"
These words were ostensibly addressed to Yi Kangle, but Su Yan knew very well that they were actually meant for her.
Su Yan watched with bated breath as Yi Kangle wiped away his tears and obediently walked into the Lin family home.
Seeing Su Yan's heartbroken expression, Lin Hui smirked triumphantly and stepped to the side, blocking Su Yan's view.
"I'm sorry to have made you laugh at me for disciplining a disobedient child, Miss Su," she said deliberately, trying to provoke her. "But what brings Miss Su here? To catch up with old friends?"
Su Yan bit her lip tightly, trying hard not to look at Lin Hui's smug expression.
She turned to leave, but Lin Hui said triumphantly behind her, "Su Yan, I'm going to sue Yi An."
Su Yan frowned, turned to look at her, and gestured for her to continue speaking with silence.
Lin Hui beamed, "If I win this custody battle, not only you, but even Yi An will never see Xiao Bao again in this lifetime."
Su Yan's pupils shrank sharply, and she could not hide the fear on her face.
"Just because of me, do you want Xiaobao to live a life without parents for the rest of his life?"
Lin Hui smiled smugly and chimed in, "Yes, it's all because of you. Su Yan, please remember this: if you hadn't suddenly come back to find Xiao Bao, I wouldn't have gone to this extent. Even if you hadn't come back, Xiao Bao would still have a father and mother, just like other children. It's all because of you! You've made him a child without a father!"
She emphasized each word, and when Su Yan heard it, it instantly became a heavy hammer blow, striking her heart again and again.
Su Yanqing couldn't take it anymore, her body began to sway, and she staggered backward, crashing into the car door with a "bang".
Lin Hui was extremely pleased with her dejected appearance.
She turned leisurely and walked towards the Lin family's house. Once inside, she deliberately snapped at the nanny, "Keep a close eye on Xiaobao from now on, and don't let him come into contact with any shady women! Do you hear me?"
Lin Hui spoke very loudly, so loudly that Su Yan could hear her.
She was clearly Yi Kangle's biological mother, yet she was portrayed as a disreputable woman.
Even though your own child is right in front of you, you feel it's a luxury to even touch them.
Su Yan opened the car door and got in, trying her best not to look at the Lin family again, then stepped on the gas and sped away.
She was in a daze, as if she had lost half her soul. She had just stepped onto the road when she was forced to the side of the road by a loud car horn.
Su Yan turned off the engine and finally couldn't hold back anymore. She buried her face in the steering wheel and cried her heart out.
The phone screen next to her lit up and kept ringing, but she didn't care who was calling; she just kept crying.
The person making the call persisted, calling again and again, until finally Su Yan answered the phone.
"Hello."
Yi An, on the other end of the phone, was stunned when she heard her unusually hoarse voice.
