Chapter 294 I don't care! I just want Xiaoyu!

Zhao Bo was dragged back home by Zhao Libai and forced to eat a family reunion dinner.

Zhao Bo was uncomfortable during the meal, and Dong Wenjun was even more unhappy, but because of Zhao Libai, the two could only pretend to be cheerful.

After a hearty meal and drinks, Zhao Libai leaned back in his chair.

He glanced at Zhao Bo, who was eating quietly, and suddenly kicked the leg of his chair. "You haven't made a sound during the meal, are you thinking of some bad idea again!"

Zhao Bo was already annoyed by the inexplicable kick, and upon hearing his words, he simply threw his bowl and chopsticks onto the table.

"Old Zhao, why are you still acting so cocky? What? You won't be happy unless I cause some trouble?"

His lecturing words made Dong Wenjun very uncomfortable, and she couldn't help but say, "Xiao Bo, how can you talk to your dad like that! Isn't your dad doing this for your own good? How can you say such things to him? Isn't that a bit disrespectful?"

Zhao Bo laughed as soon as he heard this, sprawling out in his chair as if he wanted to glare down on Dong Wenjun.

“Aunt Dong, you don’t know anything, so why are you meddling here? Are you afraid that my son and I won’t fight? When I was standing on the stool fighting with Lao Zhao, you were probably hiding in some rented room with your Zhao Punian.”

Upon hearing this, Dong Wenjun was filled with extreme shame and indignation.

"How can you talk like that, child! I'm doing this for your own good, don't you know that?!"

Zhao Bo showed no appreciation whatsoever and said rudely, "Come on, save your kindness for your obedient Pu Nian."

"you!"

Dong Wenjun was so angry that her face turned pale. She couldn't speak for a long time and could only look at Zhao Libai helplessly and aggrievedly, begging him to stand up for her.

Seeing the tense atmosphere between the two, Zhao Libai quickly stepped in to mediate.

"Alright, look at you two, one like a powder keg and the other like a firecracker."

He turned to look at Zhao Bo, his eyes filled with relief, "I've finally waited for you to grow up a bit. Having a child really changes things. You can understand the hardships of being a father now! But could you be a little nicer to your Aunt Dong? She's doing it for your own good."

Zhao Bo let out a cold laugh from his snort, "Old Zhao, do you know what the most hypocritical thing in the world is?"

He glanced at Dong Wenjun deliberately, "It's because I'm doing this for your own good."

Dong Wenjun felt extremely wronged upon hearing his pointed words, and turned to pull Zhao Libai's hand.

Sensing his wife's grievance, Zhao Libai immediately changed the subject: "Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. I called you back because of something."

Zhao Bo didn't answer, acting as if he hadn't heard, and lazily lay there digesting his food.

Zhao Libai didn't mind his unruly manner and slowly said, "I haven't seen Xiaoyu in a long time. Why don't you bring her back again?"

His words were full of negotiation and even a hint of pleading.

Zhao Bo was stunned. "What do you want with Xiaoyu?"

"I miss her! Can't I see her?" Zhao Libai replied matter-of-factly.

Zhao Bo answered crisply, "No!"

Zhao Libai got anxious and slammed his fist on the table.

"Why can't I! I'm your own father! It's my right to see Xiaoyu, why can't I? What law says I can't? No way! You have to bring her back to me!"

Zhao Bo listened to his agitated accusations, his brows furrowed.

He pondered for a long time, but there was no legal provision requiring him to meet someone's daughter.

"No, I won't bring it." Zhao Bo repeated his previous statement.

Zhao Libai was nearly driven mad with anger. Pointing at his unfilial son, he shouted at the top of his lungs, "Why don't you take care of him! Other people are always bragging about their grandsons and granddaughters! But I don't even have anything to brag about! Why don't I have any!"

Upon hearing this, Zhao Bo thought about it very seriously.

He pointed out to Zhao Libai, "You need to think about this carefully. Why do others have it, but you don't?"

Zhao Libai almost spat out a mouthful of blood. He plopped down in a chair and started throwing a tantrum.

"I don't care! I want Xiaoyu! I want everything that other people have."

Zhao Bo's lips twitched slightly, but his face remained expressionless as he stood up from his chair.

"If you insist on making this happen, then there's no room for discussion. Is there anything else? If not, I'm leaving."

He looked like he had eaten and drunk his fill, grabbed a toothpick, and started shaving his teeth as he walked out.

When Zhao Libai saw that he was about to leave, all his imposing manner vanished, and his tone immediately softened.

“This isn’t something we can’t discuss. You don’t have to bring her back, but at Meng Jie’s birthday party the day after tomorrow, you can bring Su Yan as her date, okay? That way it’ll be legitimate, and I can also see Xiao Yu.”

Just as Zhao Bo was about to turn around and refuse, he caught sight of Dong Wenjun, who was eager for him to leave, and a not-so-kind thought immediately popped into his mind.

He pretended to think for a moment, then came back and slowly sat down in the chair.

"This isn't something that can't be discussed. It's just that..."

He deliberately dragged out the last syllable, piquing Zhao Libai's curiosity.

"But what?" Zhao Libai asked nervously.

Zhao Bo gave Dong Wenjun a meaningful look, "But you can't bring female companions."

Upon hearing this, Dong Wenjun was startled.

"Whether your dad brings a female companion or not is none of your business if you take Xiaoyu to the birthday party!"

Zhao Bo answered matter-of-factly, "I have to protect Xiaoyu. It's one thing for everyone to criticize me, but I can't let Xiaoyu suffer the same harm."

He pressed his hand on the table, then stood up again and said to Zhao Libai, "Old Zhao, call me when you've made up your mind."

Zhao Bo turned to leave, but before he could take a step, Zhao Libai's voice rang out behind him.

"Fine! As long as you bring Xiaoyu, I won't bring any female companions!"

Dong Wenjun panicked, "Then what should I do?"

Zhao Libai comforted her, saying, "It's just a birthday party, it doesn't matter whether you attend or not. Besides, you've never liked these noisy occasions, so you might as well not go."

Dong Wenjun was speechless, unable to breathe after hearing his words.

Is this a question of whether or not to attend a birthday party? It's a question of whether or not to acknowledge her identity and her status in this family!

Before she could even begin to argue, Zhao Bo, oblivious to her own thoughts, chimed in, "Right, Old Zhao is right. If you don't like it, don't go. Someone as understanding and considerate as you certainly won't make things difficult for him, right?"

Dong Wenjun was caught in a dilemma, unable to say whether she was right or wrong, and her chest ached with anger.

Seeing her humiliated expression, Zhao Bo felt so pleased that he wanted to burst into laughter. What goes around comes around!

But after his moment of triumph, he was plunged into deep sorrow.

How could he possibly persuade Su Yan to attend the birthday party?
