Inside the car, the secretary turned to Meng Jie and asked, "President Meng, where are we going?"
Meng Jie's eyelashes drooped, making her look somewhat lonely, and her voice sounded unusually dejected.
"Go to Anjia, and find the only person who can save my son."
Meng Jie's car arrived safely at the An family's door. Looking at the magnificent house decorated like a castle, she took a deep breath and slowly walked inside.
Led by the servants, she bypassed the front hall, crossed the corridor, and arrived at the garden at the back of the house.
Meng Jie stood there, turning her gaze around the garden and towards the distance, where the golf course stretched endlessly.
She slowly withdrew her gaze and followed the servant through the lush flowers. Before long, she heard the sounds of women chatting and laughing.
The familiar voice mixed in made Meng Jie pause involuntarily, but she quickly returned to normal.
"Madam, President Meng has arrived."
Meng Mei stopped laughing, turned her head to look at Meng Jie, and her gaze lingered on Meng Jie's face for a second or two before she looked away indifferently.
She simply said, "I understand," and then resumed chatting and laughing with the women sitting next to her.
Meng Jie looked at the women sitting around her; they were all familiar faces from her childhood memories.
"Second Sister."
Suppressing the turmoil in her heart, Meng Jie called out.
Meng Mei's smile vanished, and she didn't even glance at her, her words dripping with sarcasm.
"What a rare guest! I never thought I would see you in person again in my lifetime."
Her sarcastic remarks drew chuckles from her companions.
Meng Mei's companion shoved her, "Hey, you can't say that. She's not the same person anymore. Do you still think she's the stupid girl you used to be able to summon and dismiss at will?"
Meng Mei was amused by this, "Yes, I forgot, you are now the president of Yi Group, I can't accept you calling me second sister."
Meng Jie clenched her teeth, her mind filled with Yi An's pale face. She suppressed the bitterness in her throat and continued gently, "Second sister, I want to talk to you alone."
"If you wanted to speak privately, you should have said so earlier!" Meng Mei scolded. "Did you expect me to leave all these distinguished guests behind just to talk to you alone? You're as rude as ever."
Meng Jie's hands clenched into fists as if she could not bear such humiliation, and she trembled uncontrollably.
She suddenly spoke, her words coming out very quickly: "My car accident was deliberately staged. I've found the culprit; it's Yi Ruihua's..."
"Shut up! Did I tell you to speak?!"
Meng Mei suddenly interrupted with a shrill voice, and Meng Jie's voice stopped abruptly, a hint of pleasure on her face.
Meng Mei composed herself and resumed her elegant, noblewoman demeanor.
She turned to her companions, her eyes crinkling with a smile. "It's about time. You guys should head back now. We'll get together another day."
Even if those people were eager to gossip, they could only leave politely after hearing her direct order to leave.
Once everyone had left, leaving only Meng Jie and Meng Mei, Meng Mei's expression suddenly turned cold.
"After all these years, hasn't the Yi family taught you any manners?"
Meng Mei turned around and launched into a furious tirade, her delicate and beautiful face contorted with rage.
Meng Jie looked at her calmly, "What the Meng family hasn't taught us over the years, do you expect the Yi family to do?"
Meng Mei gave a mocking sneer in agreement: "That's right. So, what is it?"
"Luo Zhengqing will be returning to M City soon. I know that only you can make him save my son. Please help me."
Meng Jie completely abandoned all her pride, and even her voice softened, almost pleading.
Meng Mei narrowed her eyes slightly, as if pondering her words repeatedly, "Save your son?"
Suddenly, her brow relaxed, and she realized something.
"Has Yi Ruihua's mistress and illegitimate child finally made their move?"
Meng Mei suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter, her laughter filled with undisguised schadenfreude.
She tilted her head, savoring Meng Jie's somewhat desperate expression, and said smugly, "Meng Jie, now you finally understand how I felt back then? Being driven to a dead end by an illegitimate child, that's not a pleasant feeling, is it? Hahaha..."
Meng Jie's eyes trembled uncontrollably, her nails digging deep into the flesh of her palm.
She tried her best not to show any sign of distress, and asked expressionlessly, "Have you laughed enough?"
Meng Mei wiped away the tears of laughter from the corners of her eyes and leaned back leisurely in the wicker chair.
"No. This is probably the best joke I've ever heard in my life! The phrase 'get what you deserve' applies to everyone who has done something wrong."
Meng Jie looked at her expressionlessly and said without emotion, "Do you think this is just my own shameful affair? No, it's the shameful affair of the entire Meng family."
“My son is already teetering on the brink of death. If you continue to gloat like this, once he dies, Yi Ruihua and his illegitimate son will not let it go. At that time, I may be as miserable as you wish, but you will not fare much better, and the entire Meng family will bear the same scandal as me.”
"Do you still think they're just slapping me in the face? No, they don't even respect you, and they want to trample the entire Meng family under their feet!"
As she spoke these words, the smile on Meng Mei's face gradually disappeared.
"What a nuisance! I told you long ago, Dad shouldn't have brought you back like this! You should have died out there!"
Meng Jie didn't care about the vicious curses she received; she only cared about the answer.
So, are you willing to help me?
Meng Mei withdrew her gaze in disgust. "I will contact Luo Zhengqing, but please remember, I am not helping you, I am only helping the Meng family."
Meng Jie's lips curled up. "Second sister, it's no use. No matter how much you deny it, you can't escape me, this sticky chewing gum, for the rest of your life."
She chuckled twice, then turned and left, satisfied.
"A madman! He's a complete madman!"
Meng Mei shouted in disgust behind her.
But no matter what Meng Mei says, it can no longer destroy Meng Jie in the present.
As long as her son is safe, she has nothing to fear.
Meng Jie, who had left the An family, rushed back to the hospital. She looked at Yi An on the hospital bed with loving eyes, her gaze filled with tenderness.
Her fingers gently stroked his sideburns, and looking at his unshaven appearance, she couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"As long as I live, I will never let you die. No one can take you away without my permission, not even the King of Hell!"
