Seeing that he was not only unharmed but also had a greasy smile on his face, Su Yan quickly put away her worry and subtly withdrew her hand.
She didn't answer, but sat down on the edge of his bed and picked up an apple to peel.
Yi An keenly sensed her strange behavior today and was about to ask her a question when she suddenly said, "I went to my sister's wedding today."
"younger sister?"
Su Yan stared blankly, her eyes unfocused, and slowly nodded in response to his question.
"My dear sister, I even saw my mom at the wedding."
That's a strange statement.
Yi An kept observing her expression with concern. "This is the first time I've heard you mention your family."
"Really?" Su Yan asked dismissively.
Yi'an pretended to be relaxed and tried her best to ease the atmosphere.
"But it doesn't matter, I'll see him sooner or later anyway, whether I hear about it sooner or later doesn't matter!"
Su Yan stopped peeling the apple, slowly raised her head to look at him, and said seriously, "Actually, there's no need to go see them."
"ah?"
Su Yan lowered her head again, resumed her movements, and remained silent no matter what he said.
Seeing her awkward demeanor, Yi'an noticed that although she clearly wanted to talk about her family, she was acting like a frightened bird and refused to say anything.
Su Yan also realized her loss of composure. After returning from the hotel, she was in a daze and her words were incoherent.
She proactively changed the subject: "When are you going to be discharged? Did the doctor say?"
"Dr. Luo said that if the tests are normal, I can be discharged this weekend."
Yi An paused for a moment, then asked, "Will you come to pick me up then?"
"Of course," Su Yan replied without hesitation.
"Then will you marry me?" Yi An asked quickly, afraid that Su Yan would have time to react.
"When... huh?"
The moment Su Yan blurted out the words, she realized the problem and looked up at him questioningly.
Yi An's expression turned unusually serious. "I'm not talking about a contract marriage, I'm talking about a real marriage."
He watched as Su Yan remained silent, her brows furrowing deeper and deeper, and he suddenly grew anxious.
Why aren't you saying anything? You don't want to marry me?
Su Yan still didn't speak, which made him even more anxious.
"Are you disgusted by me? Or are you worried about something? Although my car accident was serious, I didn't actually injure any vital parts. Everything that should be there is still there! You don't believe me? Look!"
As Yi'an spoke, she lifted the blanket, ready to prove it herself.
Su Yan panicked the moment she saw it and grabbed his blanket with one hand.
"No proof needed! Really, no proof needed! I believe you!" she said urgently.
The sounds around her suddenly stopped. Su Yan tentatively raised her head, only to meet a pair of eyes as bright as stars.
She didn't know when, but Yi An had quietly approached her, and the two of them could feel each other's intertwined breaths.
Su Yan was captivated by those gentle yet profound eyes, unable to tear herself away. They seemed to hold the stars and the sea within them, otherwise, why would they be so dazzling?
Yi An felt her breathing gradually become more rapid and couldn't help but smile.
"Now, will you marry me?"
He asked again earnestly.
Su Yan parted her lips slightly, but before she could answer, Yi An had already impatiently kissed her.
His strong body pressed down quickly, and Su Yan was powerless to resist, forced to let him do whatever he wanted.
Yi An's initial cautious gentleness vanished completely as Su Yan surrendered, and she became willful and reckless.
He supported her soft, slender waist and placed her on the hospital bed, then casually pulled the needle out of the back of his hand and leaned over to her.
The kisses swept in like a storm, sending waves of heat through every spot they landed on.
Just as Su Yan was about to succumb to the temptation, she suddenly felt a chill in front of her. The cold air in the ward instantly assaulted her senses, bringing her back to her senses.
She suddenly opened her eyes, and when she looked at Yi An on top of her, the undisguised desire in his eyes shocked Su Yan.
A scene flashed through Su Yan's mind, followed by a piercing scream as she pushed Yi An away without thinking.
Caught off guard, Yi An was pushed off the hospital bed and fell to the ground with a thud. Her dazed eyes gradually cleared, filled with confusion, as if she were saying: Who am I? How did I get here?
Before he could even react, the door to the ward behind him was pulled open from the outside.
Luo Zhengqing and the nurse stood at the door in shock.
The two stared at each other for a second, then Luo Zhengqing slammed the door shut again.
He took a deep breath, still somewhat unsettled, and said to the nurse beside him in a mature tone, "What did I tell you! This kid just loves to show off! If he dies one day, he'll deserve it! Who told him to bring this on himself!"
Su Yan, who was in the ward, also calmed down from her initial shock. "I'm sorry."
She apologized with a look of remorse and regret.
Yi An rubbed her bottom, which was split in two, and stood up as if nothing had happened to comfort her: "It's okay, maybe I wasn't lying properly."
Just as he was about to walk to the bedside, Su Yan suddenly shrank back as if startled. Yi An was so frightened that he froze in place.
Su Yan clutched her chest, her face contorted with struggle, and kept apologizing, "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
"It's alright, Su Yan. It's my fault. I was too hasty. I'm sorry."
Yi An stepped forward softly, wanting to comfort her.
Su Yan jumped off the bed like a startled rabbit.
"I'm not ready yet, let me calm down."
She threw down those words and ran away as if fleeing.
Yi An stood there helplessly, unsure whether to chase after him or not.
Let her think about it calmly by herself; she'll be fine once she figures it out.
But who knew that after this thought, Yi An never saw Su Yan again until she was discharged from the hospital.
Zhao Bo looked at Yi An, who was still sighing even after being discharged from the hospital, and couldn't help but ask, "What's wrong? You look like your father has died."
Yi An turned her head, wanting to blurt out her feelings, but then swallowed them back down.
He knew Zhao Bo's personality inside and out. If he spoke his mind, he would not only fail to get good advice from Zhao Bo, but would also be ridiculed by him, which would only rub salt into his wounds.
Yi An thought for a moment, then changed the subject: "Could you investigate someone for me?"
Who is it?
"Su Yan."
"ah?!"
Zhao Bo never expected that he would find out about Su Yan's father's home because of Yi An's strange request.
He thought that Yi'an might have some kind of fear of marriage, otherwise why would she suddenly do something like this!
"Auntie, do you know Su Yan?" Zhao Bo asked Aunt Zhou, who was picking vegetables in the alley.
"Who are you?" Aunt Zhou asked cautiously.
