Upon hearing this, Qiao Chen jumped up with great joy and wanted to hug Duan Sisi, but Duan Sisi resisted and dodged away.
Qiao Chen didn't insist and followed her into the car.
As the car drove out of the hospital, Duan Sisi watched Qiao Chen drive further and further away without stopping and couldn't help but ask, "Where are you going? Wouldn't it be better to just find a coffee shop nearby?"
Without turning his head, Qiao Chen said, "Sisi, I think we should go home and talk about it. After all, it's a big deal. Don't worry, my mom isn't home, so it'll just be the two of us talking."
Duan Sisi was persuaded by his words and let down her guard.
The two of them went home one after the other.
As soon as Duan Sisi entered the house, she realized something was wrong. She stared at the pile of shoes on the shoe cabinet in the entryway, then turned to Qiao Chen and asked, "Who's here?"
Before Qiao Chen could answer, Qiao Xiufen rushed out to greet her. Upon seeing Duan Sisi, she couldn't stop smiling.
"Sisi is back!"
Her words brought out all the distant relatives in the living room.
"Oh, you're finally back! We were almost about to start eating!"
Duan Sisi looked at these people she hadn't seen since the New Year and gave Qiao Chen a questioning look.
"What happened?"
Qiao Chen smiled as she dealt with the relatives, saying, "There was a traffic jam on the way. Sisi kept urging me the whole way. It's all my fault."
Taking advantage of a lull in their conversation, he put his arm around Duan Sisi's shoulder, leaned close to her ear, and said in a voice only the two of them could hear, "I don't know either, but could you help me finish this act? I don't want this to become common knowledge."
