Su Xuan sat blankly on the bed, her face pale, touching her now flat stomach, not knowing what to feel.
Seeing her haggard appearance, Su Yan took out a wrapped thermos from her bag, poured a bowl of chicken soup, and handed it to her.
"Have some drink. You're weak right now and need some nourishment."
Su Xuan, who had been holding back her tears, suddenly burst into tears after eating a bowl of chicken soup.
She took the chicken soup with trembling hands, holding it but not drinking it, large tears streaming down her face.
Su Yan couldn't stand her like this and couldn't help but ask helplessly, "What's wrong now? Is the chicken soup so awful? You're crying."
Su Xuan shook her head vigorously, looking at Su Yan with teary eyes: "Sister, without your help, I really don't know what to do. Thank you, sister."
She gripped Su Yan's hand tightly, and her tears flowed even faster.
Su Yan was most afraid of this situation, and hurriedly said, "Since you're thanking me, then don't cry. Your body can't take this kind of crying."
She sighed, "Besides, we're sisters. Even if something happens, it's not your fault. It's only right that I help you."
Her words warmed Su Xuan's heart, but Ye Mei didn't feel the same way.
She stared intently at Su Yan's retreating figure, her face filled with bitterness. She opened her mouth as if to say something, but couldn't utter a word.
Yu Wende noticed her unusual expression and quickly tried to smooth things over, saying, "Seeing how united and loving you sisters are, your mother and I can finally rest assured."
Su Yan pursed her dry lips and stood up.
"The doctor said that after a while of observation, she can be discharged. I'll go to the car to get a windproof jacket for Su Xuan."
Seeing her walk out, Yu Wende immediately pushed Ye Mei, who was standing next to him.
"Don't let the child go alone, you should go and help out too. I can stay here with Xuanxuan by myself."
Ye Mei was stunned for a moment, then realized what was happening and followed along, half-heartedly.
Su Yan treated her like she was invisible the whole time, walking quickly, grabbing her coat and turning away without even exchanging a glance with Ye Mei.
Ye Mei was already quite old and her legs weren't as nimble as hers. After chasing for so long, she was already panting heavily, and there was no way she could catch up with them on the way back.
She could only helplessly call out, "Yan Yan! Can't you give Mommy a moment to speak?"
Su Yan stopped abruptly and turned to look at Ye Mei: "You can talk, but you can't call yourself Mom."
Looking at her almost cold and indifferent face, Ye Mei felt a deep bitterness spreading through her heart.
The two walked along the hospital path until they reached a garden bench, where Su Yan suddenly stopped.
"Let's leave it here. Just say what you want to say."
Ye Mei didn't rush to speak, but pointed to the bench next to her and said to Su Yan, "Sit down first."
After Su Yan sat down, she slowly followed suit.
"Yan Yan, I know you hate your mother, but there are some things I still want to tell you."
Su Yan didn't say a word, just sat there with her coat in her hand, looking completely nonchalant.
"say what?"
Even her words were perfunctory, but Ye Mei didn't care. Instead, she said excitedly, "Yan Yan, Mom has actually missed you a lot all these years."
Su Yan turned to look at her, seeing the sincerity in her eyes, and followed up on her words: "Are you still going to talk about what happened back then? You had your reasons?"
Ye Mei was stunned for a moment, then stared at her blankly, asking in shock, "You know all that?"
Upon hearing this question, Su Yan couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.
"When you said that, did you think about the man whose dignity you once trampled underfoot? Does my dad know you said that?"
Looking into her eyes, Ye Mei felt as if she were seeing Su Xuehai from many years ago, even the tone of her voice was exactly the same.
“I admit that one reason I didn’t want you back then was because you look too much like your father. Every time I saw you, I saw your father, and I was scared. But the main reason was that Xuanxuan was too young at the time, and she couldn’t stay with someone like your father by herself.”
Su Yan couldn't listen anymore and quickly interrupted her: "I'm not talking about you abandoning me, I'm talking about the shameful things you did back then."
Under Ye Mei's ashamed gaze, she forced a strange smile onto her lips.
“You said Xuanxuan was too young back then, and you couldn’t let her go. But I was only eight years old then, what did I know? All I knew was that my mother didn’t want me anymore, and she never appeared in my life after I turned eight. Besides, what kind of person is my father? No matter how outrageous his actions were, at least he had some moral compass!”
Su Yan suddenly raised her voice, "And you? You betrayed your marriage, betrayed your husband, abandoned your husband and daughter, and lived a life of illicit relations with another man. These are undeniable facts, and you will never be able to erase them in this lifetime!"
Ye Mei's eyes began to tremble as she was yelled at. She seemed unable to bear it, her body like a leaf on a branch, as if she could be blown away at any moment.
Su Yan took a breath and her emotions gradually calmed down. Her expression returned to its usual cool and aloof look.
"Remember the question I just asked you: Does my dad know what you're saying? I don't need to answer that question; I'll tell you."
She looked at Ye Mei and smiled strangely, "He knows everything. Not only does he know, but he also heard every single word very clearly."
Ye Mei was shocked by what she said and subconsciously turned her head to look around, but apart from passersby, she did not see Su Xuehai.
"Yan Yan, you can blame me, but please don't scare me like this, okay?"
Su Yan listened to her slightly trembling voice and simply took it as a sign of her guilt.
"Are you looking for him? I can help you."
Su Yan grabbed Ye Mei's chin and lifted it up sharply, so that Ye Mei was now facing the large face pressed against the window on the second floor.
Ye Mei froze, her eyes fixed on Su Xuehai, a chill running down her spine.
Su Yan's mocking words still echoed in my ears: "You don't know, do you? He's been watching you the whole time."
Ye Mei felt as if the blood in her veins had frozen. She wanted to turn her head away, but she couldn't control her body and could only stare straight into Su Xuehai's eyes.
"No...no...don't come any closer!"
Su Yan coldly watched Ye Mei's terrified and tearful appearance, without even a thought of helping her. She simply turned and left.
Yu Wende saw that Su Yan had returned alone, and went out to look for her, where he found Ye Mei, who was terrified.
