Listening to her confident and assertive manner in demanding a house and a car, anyone who didn't know better would really think that Su Yan had shed a lot of blood back then.
"I'll tell you why: based on the property certificate, the vehicle registration, and the law. Why should you get a share of our premarital property?"
She straightened up, smiling faintly. "Auntie, you've got a good dream. Not only have you not spent a single penny, but your whole family has been living here for free for so long, and now you're even taking half of it. This is a lucrative business, even more so than robbery! You truly are a cunning old fox!"
She gave Song Qiu'e a thumbs up.
Song Qiu'e, her face ashen, looked at her mockery, slammed her hand on the table, and said firmly, "Without dividing the house, this marriage cannot be dissolved, and we will not divorce!"
Du Zhiming chimed in, "That's right! We won't divorce! Let's see what you can do to us!"
They're really going to stick to their blatant shrewish act.
Ye Mei and Yu Wende were neither the type to cause trouble; they had always lived honestly and had little experience dealing with people like this. Hearing what the mother and son said, they were completely bewildered.
Everyone says that getting a divorce is like being skinned alive, and Su Xuan truly believes it this time.
They were afraid of this kind of scoundrel, but Su Yan wasn't afraid at all; she used her methods to deal with this kind of scoundrel.
"Auntie, in this world, I've heard of debts that can't be collected, but I've never heard of a divorce that can't be finalized. If this is your attitude, then just wait and see, wait for the court summons."
Su Yan didn't waste any more words with them, stood up, and told Su Xuan and the others to leave.
Song Qiu'e stood up and yelled at her retreating figure, "Don't try to scare me! I'm not afraid of you! Go ahead and sue me, I have connections!"
Su Yan laughed upon hearing this. Someone? Then let's see if this person can stand up to the legal department of the Yi Group.
"I'll be waiting."
Su Yan said this with a light smile, then took Su Xuan's arm and walked away gracefully, while behind them, Song Qiu'e's furious voice could still be heard from time to time.
As soon as they left the residential area, Su Xuan couldn't help but praise Su Yan: "Sister, you're amazing! You managed to make them so angry with just a few words! If I were as good as you, I wouldn't have to suffer like this from them."
Su Yan chuckled softly, "Some things are worth envying, but others are best left alone. My ability to treat them didn't come for nothing."
Hearing the melancholy in his words, Ye Mei knew there was some story behind it, and her gaze towards Su Yan became even more guilty.
Yu Wende glanced at the residential complex behind him and couldn't help but say, "It's easy to get a divorce these days, but what about the house? Their family are just scoundrels. If they refuse to move out, there's nothing we can do. Are we really going to let them live there until the lawsuit is over?"
Su Yan curled her lips into a meaningful smile: "That depends on whether they have the ability to stay here."
After being persuaded by Song Qiu'e all night, Du Zhiming finally came to terms with it. Since the child was gone anyway, whether he had a wife or not didn't really matter; he could just find another one.
But little did he know that his nightmare was only just beginning.
As soon as he arrived at work, his boss dragged him to his office and gave him a thorough dressing-down. Du Zhiming was completely bewildered by the scolding, and it took him a while to realize that someone had reported him.
"I didn't! They're framing me!" Du Zhiming cried out, insisting he was innocent.
The leader didn't waste any words with him and directly threw the evidence of the accusation in his face.
"You dare to claim you're innocent after all this!"
Du Zhiming was dumbfounded when he saw the irrefutable evidence.
"How could this be!" He fell into deep self-doubt.
The leader was furious and pointed at him, yelling, "It's one thing if you do it yourself, but you have to drag me into it too! Someone reported it directly to the mayor, and now they're thoroughly investigating our department. I'm being dragged into this because of you! Get out of here right now! Don't let me see you again!"
Du Zhiming was stunned. He tried to plead for leniency, but his superiors didn't give him a chance and simply threw him out.
Du Zhiming lost his job in such a bizarre way that everything happened so suddenly that he was a little taken aback.
He returned home in a daze, and before he even reached his doorstep, he heard the old ladies in the neighborhood gossiping about him.
"Have you heard? That son of the Du family is a complete scoundrel! Not only does he eat their food, drink their drinks, and live in their house, but he also beat up their pregnant daughter and sent her back home. And he still has the nerve to come out and brag about it! He's shameless!"
"Absolutely! Otherwise, with his family's circumstances, how could they afford to buy a house here? They wouldn't even have a penny!"
Upon hearing this, Du Zhiming was filled with resentment and vented all the anger he had suffered at work.
"What do you know? You're just talking nonsense! You all have nothing better to do than gossip about other people. Aren't you afraid your tongues will rot?"
The old ladies weren't afraid at all, and retorted sarcastically, "If anyone's tongue is going to rot, it'll be your mother first! When it comes to spreading lies, whose gossip in this courtyard hasn't gone through your mother's mouth?"
Du Zhiming was speechless and didn't know how to refute it. He turned his hand away and stormed home.
He thought he could find some peace and quiet at home, but he didn't expect that his home would be anything but peaceful!
As soon as Du Zhiming went upstairs, he saw workers knocking and banging on his door.
Who are you?!
He looked at the rickety door and shouted anxiously, "Why are you taking our door down?!"
The worker didn't even look at him before saying, "The homeowner paid us to remove this door; we're just doing our job for the money."
This explanation sounded somewhat impatient, probably because it had already been explained several times.
Du Zhiming shouted, "I am the homeowner! I told you to take it down! Put it back!"
The worker seemed not to hear, and continued with his work, forcefully removing the door from its hinges.
They stopped carrying the property past Du Zhiming and slowly said to him, "Say you're the owner, give me your property certificate, and we'll install it for you immediately. If you don't have it, don't blame me!"
Du Zhiming was speechless and could only watch helplessly as the workers carried the door away.
He watched his neighbors go up and down the stairs, looking at him as if he were a joke. He got angry and stormed into the house.
"What kind of nonsense is this?!"
Song Qiu'e also started cursing: "Su Xuan's sister is a real scoundrel! How could she come up with such a despicable scheme! Her heart is truly wicked!"
Du Zhiming was furious and immediately took out his phone to call Su Xuan.
Unexpectedly, the person who answered the phone was Su Yan.
"What's wrong? Are you getting a divorce?"
Su Yan's voice was very cheerful, and one could even detect a hint of schadenfreude.
Du Zhiming spat out through gritted teeth, "Don't even dream about it! You think I'll get a divorce like this? Impossible! If I'm not having a good time, I won't let you have one either!"
Su Yan laughed out loud, seemingly mocking Du Zhiming's overestimation of his abilities.
"Then you can keep taking it. I want to see who's tougher."
