Chapter Forty: You're Missing Me in Your Life

Early in the morning, Lin Hui was enjoying her breakfast when her phone kept ringing.

She opened it with some annoyance and saw that the messages kept popping up in the Starlight Kindergarten parents' group.

She swiped her finger to the top and saw the message that had exploded in popularity.

Kang Kang's parents: Have you heard? Changzi's family went bankrupt, and his father went to jail for tax evasion and falsifying accounts. The bank confiscated all their belongings; I heard it's terrible.

The parents below were shocked by this news.

Some expressed sympathy, some expressed surprise, and some gloated.

Jingjing's parent: I always said that these nouveau riche types can't last long. They think that just because they went to kindergarten, they can squeeze into the circle. What a pipe dream.

Lin Hui remained expressionless in the face of these messages.

She was simply curious as to why the Chang family had suddenly encountered such a major accident.

But this curiosity didn't last long; to her, Gao Shuyun was nothing more than a pawn to be used.

Whether she has it or not doesn't matter much to her.

Lin Hui elegantly wiped her mouth with a napkin and said to Mrs. Lin, who had just come downstairs, "Mom, I'm going to work."

"Get along well with Yi'an and don't cause any conflicts!" Madam Lin instructed loudly.

The development of the puzzle game by Yiku Technology is progressing very smoothly.

After the company released Lin Hui's final design, it caused quite a stir, and many people are already looking forward to the game's release.

The launch event for this game is tomorrow.

Lin Hui walked into the conference room and immediately spotted Su Yan sitting there. A cold, mocking smile appeared on her lips as she looked away.

She glanced around briefly, then turned to Yi An and asked, "Where did Secretary Zhao go? I haven't seen him."

Yi An had long anticipated that someone would mention Zhao Bo, and had prepared her explanation well in advance.

"Secretary Zhao has recently suffered some indescribable setbacks."

He cleared his throat and subconsciously glanced in Su Yan's direction.

Su Yan immediately pretended that nothing had happened, turned her head away, and wrote with a guilty look: It has nothing to do with me.

Yi An quietly withdrew her gaze, then said seriously, "He is receiving some special treatment and is very happy. Everyone doesn't need to worry about him."

"Cool!!!"

Zhao Bo looked at the bikini-clad beauties gathered in the pool in front of him and shouted excitedly.

That's right, only after experiencing tough guys can you realize the importance of girls.

Zhao Bo splashed water over his head, creating what he thought was a cool, sky-high hairstyle, and strode towards a hot young woman on the shore.

He held a glass of wine and leaned against the table, trying to appear deep in thought.

"Miss, I'm a fortune teller. I only tell fortunes for those who are destined to meet me. The moment I saw you, I knew you were that person!"

He whispered meaningfully, "So, the first thing I did when I saw you was to do a divination for you and find that you're missing something."

"oh?"

The young woman pretended to be curious and leaned closer to Zhao Bo, bringing her lips slightly parted to her ear, intentionally or unintentionally exhaling warm breath.

"What is that?"

Zhao Bo felt a jolt of electricity run through his body, from his forehead to his toes, and he felt completely numb from the question.

He braced himself against the table with his arms, struggling to sit up.

"You're missing me in your life."

He took out his phone, opened the WeChat QR code he had prepared beforehand, and handed it to the young lady with great enthusiasm.

The young lady was surprised for a moment, but did not immediately grant his wish. Instead, she touched her lips with her slender finger and said meaningfully, "Unfortunately, I also did a fortune telling for you today. You are also lacking something in your destiny."

Zhao Bo felt inexplicably excited. He rubbed his hands together, trying to suppress his excitement, and asked in a deliberately elegant manner, "What is it?"

The young woman uttered each word one by one in his face.

"lack."

"Heart."

"Eye."

After saying that, she gave a cold laugh, turned around and left without any hesitation.

Zhao Bo was left standing alone, disheveled, in the wind.

He's a patient! Isn't there even a kind young lady who would treat him for a little while?

The meeting went much more smoothly without Zhao Bo.

The marketing department created images to illustrate the online reactions, making it easier for everyone to understand.

"The response to Mr. Lin's design was exceptionally positive as soon as it was released, greatly increasing the popularity of our game."

Yi'an's lavish praise drew murmurs from the crowd below.

"President Lin's design this time is absolutely amazing, one of a kind! When I first saw it, only two words could express my feelings!"

"President Lin truly deserves to be called a benchmark for emerging designers in China; his talent is evident from the first stroke of his pen!"

"This time, let alone the domestic designers, I think even if Qiong returned to China, she wouldn't be able to compare to our CEO Lin. She would have to admit defeat. It would be a pity if this didn't win a major award!"

·····

Amidst the chorus of praise, Lin Hui became smug and arrogant, as if standing on a cloud.

"It's nothing this time, and I still want to thank all my colleagues for their help."

She glanced meaningfully in Su Yan's direction.

The others didn't understand what she meant either, only assuming she was praising them, and hurriedly said, "That's all thanks to President Lin."

Even if Yi An didn't want to admit it, she had to acknowledge Lin Hui's talent.

This design is a tremendous asset to the game project.

His expression softened considerably. "You still need to prepare well for tomorrow's press conference. I'll give you a bonus once the press conference is a success."

Lin Hui rarely heard him speak to her so gently, and her face flushed with shyness.

"I don't want the bonus, I want your special reward."

These words were like a bomb thrown into the crowd, severely injuring a group of single onlookers.

"Forehead."

Everyone tried their best to suppress any sounds of pain from their injuries.

Yi An immediately looked a little embarrassed. He quickly glanced at Su Yan and coughed twice.

"You deserve the bonus."

He picked up the documents on the table, turned around and left, trying to get away from this troublesome place as quickly as possible.

He had initially been impressed by Lin Hui's talent and planned to keep her on for a long-term collaboration after the project concluded.

Startled by her words, he immediately changed his mind.

He felt that character was more important than talent.

Lin Hui deliberately packed her things slowly, and only after everyone had left did she look at Su Yan provocatively.

"The press conference is tomorrow, are you excited?"

Su Yan looked at her expressionlessly and offered a friendly reminder: "President Lin, the press conference is tomorrow. What you should do is familiarize yourself with the entire design as soon as possible, so that you won't be confused when you can't explain it clearly."

Lin Hui's expression changed immediately after being reminded by her.

"Okay, then you can work overtime and hand over the entire design concept to me."
