After leaving the tent.
The short, stout general immediately set about arranging for people to build siege equipment.
Mu Qing then turned to the general with the mustache and said sternly:
"You! Immediately send scouts to investigate the terrain around Jianmen Pass and find out if there are any other routes leading into the pass!"
"If you can't find it, bring me your head!"
The mustachioed general quickly replied:
"Yes, General!"
He stood up, bowed respectfully, and then turned and strode out of the tent.
He immediately summoned his trusted confidants and arranged for them to scout out the terrain of Jianmen Pass.
He privately instructed them to report back immediately once they found a suitable route, without delay.
Several scouts accepted the order and quickly disappeared into the night.
After the two left, Mu Qing paced back and forth alone in the tent, anxiously rubbing his temples.
The prolonged siege of Jianmen Pass had left him extremely anxious.
Lu Yan was as slippery as an eel, impossible to handle.
A direct assault won't work, and a clever strategy won't find a breakthrough.
Damn it, how are we supposed to fight this war?
The short, stout general's suggestion lingered in his mind.
Divide forces?
This is extremely risky; if we're not careful, Lu Yan could defeat us one by one.
But the current stalemate forces him to consider this risky move.
"Bring the wine!"
Mu Qing roared.
Before long, a soldier carefully carried in a jar of wine and placed it on the table in front of Mu Qing.
Mu Qing grabbed the wine jar and tilted his head back to gulp it down.
Spicy liquor streamed down his beard, soaking the front of his shirt.
"Damn it, just what kind of monster is this Lu Yan?!"
Mu Qing slammed the wine jar to the ground, shards flying everywhere, the aroma of wine filling the air.
He grabbed the map from the table in frustration and spread it out.
The topography of Shannan Prefecture was laid out before him in its entirety.
But he just couldn't see through the mystery.
Perhaps the short, stout man's suggestion isn't entirely unacceptable.
They divided their forces to attack other cities in Shannan Prefecture, forcing Lu Yan to send troops back to reinforce them.
Perhaps it really is a good plan...
The wind howled outside the tent, like the low growl of a wild beast, which only made the silence inside the tent seem even more terrifying.
Mu Qing suddenly looked up, a resolute glint in her eyes:
"Divide the troops! Split the troops into two groups!"
His tone was firm, as if he had finally grasped the key to breaking the deadlock.
"Someone come here!"
Mu Qing called out, and the messenger outside quickly lifted the curtain and entered the tent.
"What are your orders, General?"
The messenger bowed and asked cautiously.
"Summon the generals for a meeting, immediately!"
The messenger left in response, while Mu Qing continued to stare at the unfolded map.
His gaze lingered on each and every city.
A hint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes, as if he had already decided on a dangerous plan.
The finger slowly moved along the path between Jianmen Pass and Shannan Prefecture, finally stopping at Shannan Prefecture.
Before long, the generals entered one after another, including the short, stout general and the general with the mustache.
The crowd filed in, though they were seasoned veterans.
But even in the face of a tough general like Mu Qing, they dared not slacken their efforts in the slightest.
"Everyone!"
Mu Qing's voice was firm and resolute, containing unwavering determination.
"We need to change our strategy. A direct assault on the spot is ineffective; we must find another way out."
His gaze swept over the crowd, lingering particularly on the short, stout general and the general with the mustache.
It seemed as if they were searching for their reaction.
"What are your thoughts, General?"
The general with the mustache was the first to ask a question, even though he was full of worries about the battle situation.
But at this moment, they could only place their hopes on Mu Qing's plan.
"We will split our forces into two groups,"
Mu Qing curled the corners of her lips into a smile.
"Continue to apply pressure to Jianmen Pass to draw away Lu Yan's main force;"
"Another force of 30,000 troops was dispatched to bypass the main city and attack the cities under the jurisdiction of Shannan Prefecture."
Upon hearing this, all the generals looked surprised.
Splitting the troops into two groups is undoubtedly a desperate gamble in the face of the current predicament.
The short, stout general patted his belly, seemingly pondering the feasibility of this strategy.
Then he raised his head, a gleam of eager anticipation flashing in his eyes.
"General, this humble general is willing to go."
Mu Qing nodded; he was well aware of the general's abilities and style of doing things.
Sometimes, impulsiveness can bring unexpected surprises.
"This time, don't just focus on fighting; you also need to ensure uninterrupted logistical support."
Mu Qing left those words behind.
"Please rest assured, General!"
The short, stout general stepped back and gave a solemn salute.
Seeing this, the other generals also expressed that they would spare no effort to cooperate with Mu Qing's decision.
After all, at this point, it's not that there were no other options.
Rather, it's more accurate to say that any choice could potentially lead them to victory.
"Alright, let's make the arrangements right away."
Mu Qing waved his hand, signaling them to go their separate ways.
The generals left the tents and continued their preparations.
The tent fell silent once more, with only the lingering murderous aura flowing between the mountains and rivers on the map remaining.
Mu Qing lowered his eyes, his fingers tapping incessantly on the table.
It was as if the dawn of victory could already be seen breaking through the clouds.
In the Beixiang Kingdom's military camp, the wind swept away the clouds, and the banners fluttered in the wind.
Mu Qing stood on the high platform, looking down at the army that was gathering below, his eyes flashing with a cold light.
The order to divide the troops has been issued.
The short, stout general was leading his 30,000 troops, taking a detour towards the cities under the jurisdiction of Shannan Prefecture.
This risky move was a gamble on Lu Yan's reaction speed and his own judgment.
