Seeing this, the others, though somewhat frightened, still stepped forward to taste it.
After finishing their meal, some people, without batting an eye, gave a thumbs-up and praised it, saying:
"Delicious! I'll have another bowl!"
Of course, some people turned pale after eating and ran to the side to vomit uncontrollably.
Chen Qingwan, inside the carriage, had long been drawn in by the commotion.
She secretly lifted the carriage curtain and saw this comical scene, and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"This Lu Yan is a real character!" she thought to herself.
Lu Yan seemed to notice her gaze and turned to wink at her.
Then, mysteriously carrying a bowl of "dark cuisine," he walked towards the carriage.
"Miss Qingwan, would you like to try my secret recipe?"
Chen Qingwan looked at the dark, gooey lump, her stomach churning, and she quickly waved her hand in refusal:
"No, no, I...I'm not hungry..."
"Don't be shy, I made this especially for you!"
Lu Yan grinned mischievously and made a move to lift the carriage curtain.
Chen Qingwan was terrified and turned pale. She quickly hid in a corner of the carriage and cried out in panic:
"Don't come any closer! I...I'm afraid of the dark..."
Upon seeing this, Lu Yan burst into laughter.
He didn't insist any further and turned back to the soldiers.
The army continued its march.
Throughout the journey, Lu Yan continued to display his "silly" nature.
They occasionally do things that are both funny and absurd.
For example, when he had nothing to do, he actually had an arm-wrestling match with Li Kui.
As a result, he was easily knocked down by Li Kui with one hand and fell on his butt.
Chen Qingwan was both annoyed and amused by Lu Yan's unserious behavior.
This guy always comes up with some really weird and wonderful ideas.
But she also had to admit that he did have the ability to win people's hearts.
These soldiers idolized him to the extreme.
Once, the team rested near a grove of trees.
Lu Yan pulled out a slingshot from somewhere and aimed it at the birds in the tree.
"Lord Lu, what's wrong...?"
Chen Qingwan asked curiously.
"Let's hunt birds! It's the middle of nowhere, let's improve our meals."
Lu Yan said without turning his head.
“But… your accuracy…” Chen Qingwan was somewhat doubtful.
Before he finished speaking, with a "whoosh," the bullet flew out and hit a plump pheasant.
The pheasant flapped its wings and fell from the tree.
Lu Yan whistled triumphantly:
"How was it? Not bad, right?"
Chen Qingwan opened her mouth wide in surprise. This guy really is a hidden talent!
"Let's have an extra dinner tonight, and ask Xiao Kui to make us roast chicken!"
Lu Yan excitedly picked up the pheasant and winked at Chen Qingwan.
The relationship between the two gradually became subtle in this relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
That evening, the team set up camp in a valley.
Night Owl suddenly appeared before Lu Yan and reported with a solemn expression:
"My lord, scouts from the allied forces of Beixiang and Java have been spotted ahead."
There were about fifty of them, and they were about five li away from us.
Lu Yan frowned. It seemed that the other party had also noticed their movements.
"Tell the brothers to be on high alert and strengthen patrols to prevent enemy attacks."
He gave the order in a deep voice.
"Yes!" Night Owl accepted the order and left.
Lu Yan walked to Chen Qingwan's carriage and said:
"It seems we need to speed things up."
Chen Qingwan lifted the carriage curtain and asked worriedly:
"What's wrong? What happened?"
“The enemy scouts have already spotted us, and a large force will probably be arriving soon.”
Lu Yan explained.
"We must reach Southeast Pass before them and meet up with Lu Fei."
Chen Qingwan nodded; she also knew the seriousness of the matter.
"So what do you plan to do?"
Lu Yan smiled slightly, a sly glint in his eyes:
"Since they want to play, then we'll play along with them. Xiao Kui!"
"grown ups!"
Li Kui, carrying his broadsword, came running over with a smug look on his face.
"Pass down the order: the entire army must march at full speed tonight and strive to reach the Southeast Pass before dawn!"
Lu Yan said firmly.
"Yes!" Li Kui shouted excitedly and turned to relay the order.
As night fell, the army advanced silently into the darkness.
Chen Qingwan sat in the carriage, listening to the rapid hoofbeats outside, her heart filled with trepidation.
She had no idea what awaited them ahead...
Suddenly, the carriage jolted and came to a stop.
Chen Qingwan exclaimed in surprise and quickly asked:
"What happened?"
Lu Yan's voice came from outside the car:
"Don't worry, it's nothing, it's just a little trouble."
Chen Qingwan lifted the carriage curtain and saw that the road ahead was blocked by huge trees, obviously by human intervention.
In the woods on both sides of the road, one could vaguely see some figures moving about.
"It seems we've been ambushed."
Lu Yan said calmly.
"ambush?"
Chen Qingwan's heart tightened. Could it be a joint force of the Northern Xiang Kingdom and Java?
"Little Kui, it's your turn to perform!"
Li Kui grinned, revealing his gleaming white teeth:
"Hehe, just what I wanted!"
He swung his broadsword and shouted loudly.
"Brothers, charge with me!"
In an instant, shouts of battle shook the heavens and shattered the tranquility of the valley...
"Kill them! Slay these bastards!"
Li Kui's roar was like thunder, making the valley vibrate.
His broadsword flashed and swung, its blade gleaming.
