Chapter 178 If you don't discipline someone for three days, they'll be climbing on the roof and tearing off the tiles!

After eating.

The old beggar stood up shakily and bowed deeply to Lu Yan.

"Thank you so much, sir, for saving my life!"

Lu Yan waved his hand, "It's nothing, no need for formalities."

The old beggar raised his head, a glint of light flashing in his cloudy eyes.

“Master, I can see that you have an extraordinary bearing and are definitely not someone to be underestimated.”

"I have something to say, but I don't know if I should say it."

Lu Yan became interested and said, "Please speak freely, old man."

The old beggar leaned closer to Lu Yan and said mysteriously:

"I see a dark aura around the master's face; I fear he may face a bloody disaster!"

Lu Yan was taken aback, then burst into laughter.

"Old man, you jest. I am strong and healthy, how could I possibly suffer any bloodshed?"

After hearing Lu Yan's words, the old beggar curled his lip in disdain.

He shook out his tattered clothes, revealing a patch covered in dirt.

It silently mocked Lu Yan's ignorance.

"Sir, your forehead is dark, as black as the bottom of a pot. You will surely suffer a bloody disaster within three days!"

"If you don't believe me, just wait and see!"

After saying that, the old beggar left without looking back, leaving Lu Yan bewildered in the wind.

Lu Yan watched the old beggar's departing figure and muttered to himself:

"It's a real shame that this old man doesn't go into opera."

He returned to the government office and told Lu Fei and the others about this "interesting incident".

After listening, Lu Fei chuckled in a deep, muffled voice:

"Sir, this old swindler is a master of deception and trickery; don't believe him!"

Night Owl remained expressionless and coldly said, "Just a con artist."

Despite saying that, Night Owl still suggested strengthening the guards of the government office, just in case.

Lu Yan thought it made sense and adopted his suggestion.

That night, the moon was dark and the wind was high, and the government office was completely silent.

Lu Yan was fast asleep when suddenly, the sound of clashing swords woke him up.

Lu Yan suddenly opened his eyes.

He discovered that several men in black had broken into his room and were brandishing swords and knives at him.

"Holy crap! An assassin?"

Lu Yan sprang out of bed with a somersault.

He grabbed the sword from beside the bed, its cold light flashing, and headed straight for the man in black.

One of the men in black swung his knife to block, but felt a tremendous force strike him.

His tiger's mouth cracked from the shock, and the long sword in his hand almost slipped out of his grasp.

Lu Yan pressed his advantage relentlessly, his sword strikes like a raging storm, forcing the man in black to retreat repeatedly.

These men in black were skilled in martial arts, and their moves were ruthless; they were clearly well-trained assassins.

They cooperated seamlessly, advancing and retreating with perfect strategy, their swords flashing and clashing, weaving a web of death that enveloped Lu Yan.

But how could they possibly be a match for Lu Yan?

Lu Yan possesses modern fighting skills and has also incorporated the martial arts of this world.

His moves were lightning fast and ruthless.

He sometimes flipped in the air, and sometimes slid close to the ground.

His movements were unpredictable, and his swordsmanship was like a gazelle leaping up its horns—unpredictable and elusive.

A man in black attempted to launch a sneak attack from the side, which Lu Yan caught in the corner of his eye.

With a backhand strike, the sword struck the man in black squarely on the wrist.

The man in black screamed, the blade in his hand fell to the ground, and he staggered backward, clutching his bleeding wrist.

Another man in black seized the opportunity and slashed at Lu Yan's shoulder with his knife.

Lu Yan neither dodged nor avoided, but sidestepped the blade.

At the same time, a fierce whip kick swept out, hitting the man in black squarely in the chest.

The man in black let out a muffled groan, as if struck by lightning, and was sent flying backward.

Before the man in black could get up, Lu Yan leaped up.

He stepped on his chest and held a long sword to his throat.

"Speak! Who sent you?" Lu Yan shouted sternly.

The man in black gritted his teeth and remained silent.

Lu Yan sneered.

"You won't talk? Then die!"

Having said that, he was about to thrust his long sword down.

At the critical moment, another man in black suddenly attacked from behind, slashing at Lu Yan's back with a knife.

"Be careful, sir!"

Li Kui roared and charged forward, brandishing his broadsword, blocking the attack from the man in black.

Swords clashed, sparks flew. Li Kui, with his immense strength, sent the man in black staggering back several steps with a single blow.

Meanwhile, Night Owl also joined the battle.

Every time he made a move, he aimed straight for the man in black's vital points.

One of the men in black was unable to dodge in time and had his throat slashed by Night Owl's dagger. Blood gushed out, and he collapsed to the ground dead.

Seeing this, the other men in black became terrified, and their attacks gradually slowed down.

Lu Yan seized the opportunity, flicked his sword, and pierced through the man in black in front of him.

The remaining men in black, seeing that things were not going well, scattered and fled.

I hate that my parents didn't give me two more legs.

Their legs began to tremble, and only one thought occupied their minds:

Run! Run! Run! If you're too slow, you'll lose your life here.

So they abandoned their armor and weapons, scrambling and crawling away in a panic.

They looked like a pack of stray dogs being chased by vicious dogs.

Looking at the group of defeated soldiers fleeing in panic, Lu Yan did not order a pursuit.

What if these guys have some underhanded tricks up their sleeves? Wouldn't we be walking right into their trap?

Instead, they first cleaned up the mess inside the government office.

The haphazardly laid corpses of men in black, the broken swords, and the scattered hidden weapons all needed to be dealt with properly.

Lu Yan waved his hand, directing everyone:

"Come on, everyone, stop standing there and clean up this trash quickly so it doesn't affect the city's appearance!"

Everyone busied themselves with their hands, piling up the black-clad man's body.

After disposing of the body, Lu Yan immediately ordered a reinforcement of the guards.

The government office was fortified with three or five layers of defenses, so that not even a fly could get in.
