Chapter 189 Blowing Up the Dam

Lu Yan finally breathed a sigh of relief after Li Kui left.

They began to consider how to deal with the two potential threats, Java and Beixiang.

He summoned Tu Rong, Ye Xiao, Han Sheng, and Fan Tong to hold an emergency military meeting.

In the conference room, Lu Yan first pointed to Tu Rong and Fan Tong and introduced them to each other:

"This is Tu Rong, our naval commander, a surrendered general from Java, with rich experience in naval warfare!"

This is Fan Tong, originally from Beixiang State, and now he is one of our military officers.

"You two must cooperate closely from now on to fight the enemy together, understand?"

Tu Rong and Fan Tong bowed to each other and said in unison:

"clear!"

"Alright! Let's get down to business!"

Lu Yan cleared his throat.

"The remnants of Java are like maggots in a toilet, disgusting!"

"The Northern Xiang Kingdom is eyeing us covetously, like a hungry wolf eyeing a piece of meat! What should we do now?"

Night Owl, captain of the special forces in Shannan Prefecture, is known for his taciturn nature.

This time was no exception; he coldly uttered only two words:

"Get him!"

Han Sheng, the infantry regimental commander, was an impatient man. He slammed his fist on the table:

"Sir, give the order! Our infantry regiment has been itching for a fight for ages, ready to battle them three hundred rounds!"

Fan Tong, fanning himself with a feather fan, spoke slowly and deliberately:

"My lord, I believe we should strike first! The remaining forces of Java are not a threat."

"But the Northern Xiang Kingdom is powerful, we must come up with a foolproof plan!"

Lu Yan nodded and looked at Tu Rong:

"Tu Rong, you are most familiar with the terrain of Java, do you have any good suggestions?"

Tu Rong pondered for a moment and said:

"Sir, Java has an important dam. If we can blow it up, we can cause a flood and leave them unable to take care of themselves!"

"Great idea!"

Lu Yan's eyes lit up.

"That's settled then! Tu Rong, this mission is yours! Teach those Javanese bastards a lesson!"

"Remember, safety first, finish your job and run, don't linger!"

Tu Rong knelt on one knee, clasped his hands in a fist and said:

"Rest assured, my lord, Tu Rong will complete the mission to the death!" After saying that, he turned around, mustered his men, and prepared to set off.

As Lu Yan watched Tu Rong's departing figure, a sense of worry rose in his heart.

He called Tu Rong back and asked mysteriously:

"Tu Rong, tell me the inside story, how exactly do you plan to blow up the dam?"

Tu Rong scratched his head and chuckled:

"My lord, it's not that complicated. The dikes in Java are as flimsy as paper."

"We'll sneak over at night, plant the explosives, light them, and run! We'll blow their pants off!"

Lu Yan nodded and then asked:

"What about the ships? Are those wrecked ships we captured from Java still usable?"

Tu Rong gave an awkward laugh:

"It's barely usable, but it leaks a bit and moves very slowly, like an old lady with bound feet."

Upon hearing this, Lu Yan frowned:

"This won't do! What if this lousy boat falls apart halfway through the journey? No, we need to get you some new boats!"

He turned to look at Li Kui.

"Xiao Kui, go to the shipyard and see if you can get a few new ships ready ahead of schedule!"

Upon hearing this, Li Kui said with a bitter face:

"Sir, it's the Lunar New Year, all the shipyard's craftsmen have gone home for the holidays, there's no one to build ships!"

Lu Yan slapped his forehead, only then realizing that it was the Chinese New Year period.

He sighed helplessly and said to Tu Rong:

"It seems we'll have to use the old ship for now. I'm sorry to trouble you, Tu Rong."

To everyone's surprise, Tu Rong patted his chest and said with great pride:

"Sir, don't worry! Even without a boat, we can swim across! It's just a swim, who's afraid of who!"

Looking at Tu Rong's serious expression, Lu Yan felt both touched and amused.

That kid is such a stubborn fellow!

He patted Tu Rong on the shoulder and said solemnly:

"Tu Rong, I understand your loyalty! Don't worry, once the new warships are built after the New Year, your navy will be the first to be equipped with them!"

Tu Rong was so moved that tears welled up in her eyes, and she knelt down again to express her gratitude:

"Thank you, sir! Tu Rong will repay your kindness with his life!"

After seeing Tu Rong off, Lu Yan summoned the other generals and began to deploy the defense of Shannan Prefecture.

"Night Owl, you lead the special forces to strengthen patrols within the city and be on high alert for spies from Java and Beixiang!"

The owl, sparing with words, coldly uttered only one word:

"yes."

"Han Sheng, you lead the infantry regiment to strengthen the city wall defenses and be ready to fight at any time!"

Han Sheng rubbed his hands excitedly: "Don't worry, sir, I guarantee they won't leave alive!"

"Zhang Xun, you lead the cavalry regiment to patrol outside the city. Report immediately if you spot any enemy activity!"

Zhang Xun clasped his hands and said, "This humble general obeys!"

"Fan Tong, you are in charge of logistical support. Make sure there are enough food supplies and that the weapons and equipment are complete!"

Fan Tong waved his feather fan confidently and said, "Don't worry, my lord, everything has been arranged."

Lu Yan nodded in satisfaction, thinking to himself:

Java and Northern Xiang, just you wait and see!

I'll show you that Shannan Prefecture is not to be trifled with!

...

On the other side, in Java.

A country famous for its durians and sand sculpture kings.

At this moment, the atmosphere inside their palace was as heavy as someone who had been constipated for three days and three nights.

The king reclined on his throne, which was inlaid with inferior gemstones—actually glass shards.

His gaze, sinister like a toad preparing to catch a fly, swept over the kneeling officials below.
