A soldier rushed in and knelt down.
"Report...Reporting to the General...The army from Shannan Prefecture...is attacking!"
Zhao Xuan and his several deputy generals were all taken aback.
They never expected that Lu Yan would launch an attack at this time!
How many of them are there?
Zhao Xuanqiang asked, trying to remain calm.
"Reporting to the General... there are approximately... approximately five thousand men..."
The soldier stammered.
"Five thousand men?" Zhao Xuan sneered.
"Five thousand men think they can break through my camp? That's wishful thinking!"
"But...General...our...our provisions..."
The lieutenant reminded him.
"What's there to be afraid of!" Zhao Xuan wiped the rain off his face, spittle flying everywhere.
"If we take down Lu Yan and seize Shannan Prefecture, will we still be worried about our brothers going hungry?"
"Cheer up, all of you! Hang in there, wealth and glory are just around the corner!"
He drew his sword, its blade reflecting a cold light in the rainy night.
"Charge with me! Slaughter all the bastards of Shannan Prefecture!"
Zhao Xuan's roar echoed in the rain, like the howl of a trapped beast.
Although the soldiers of Beixiang were demoralized and their morale was low, they dared not disobey their commander's orders.
They had no choice but to bite the bullet and follow Zhao Xuan out of the tent.
The torrential rain blurred their vision and washed away the fear in their hearts.
They gripped their swords tightly, trudging through the mud towards the firelight.
However, what awaited them was not the victory they had imagined, but the raging fire from hell.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The deafening gunfire shattered the tranquility of the rainy night, with flashes of light and billowing smoke.
The musketeers of Shannan Prefecture were already on high alert, and a dense barrage of bullets poured out like a torrential rain.
In an instant, the Beixiang soldiers at the forefront were riddled with bullets.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!" Several loud explosions followed.
The earth trembled violently, and towering flames illuminated the entire battlefield.
Lu Yan's bomb exploded like the Grim Reaper in the Beixiang army formation.
Limbs and severed arms flew everywhere, and screams of agony rose and fell.
Zhao Xuan never dreamed that Lu Yan's army would be so powerful.
He brought only ordinary soldiers armed with cold weapons.
How could they withstand the relentless bombardment of guns and bombs?
"Retreat! Retreat quickly!"
Zhao Xuan shouted at the top of his lungs.
But his voice was quickly drowned out by the sound of gunfire.
The soldiers of Beixiang were in complete chaos, scattering in all directions like headless flies.
They were routed, falling and getting up in the mud, only to fall again.
They let the rain wash away the blood and mud from their bodies.
"General! We...we're surrounded!"
The blood-covered lieutenant stumbled to Zhao Xuan and cried out in terror.
Zhao Xuan looked around and saw countless soldiers from Shannan Prefecture surging in from all directions amidst the firelight.
The muskets in their hands gleamed with golden light, like the scythes of death.
It's over, everything is over!
Zhao Xuan felt utterly hopeless.
He never imagined that he would be defeated so completely and so miserably.
"Lu Yan! You despicable scoundrel! I'll haunt you even in death!"
Zhao Xuan roared to the sky, his eyes filled with resentment and hatred.
"Hey, isn't this General Zhao?"
A mocking voice came from not far away.
Zhao Xuan looked in the direction of the sound and saw Lu Yan riding a tall horse, slowly walking out of the firelight.
He was followed by a group of generals including Lu Fei, Zhang Xun, and Han Sheng.
Everyone looked relaxed, as if this war was just a game.
"Lu Yan! You...you..."
Zhao Xuan pointed at Lu Yan, trembling with anger, but couldn't utter a single word.
Lu Yan looked down at Zhao Xuan with a mocking smile on his face.
"Zhao Xuan, you've lost, so what? Why are you getting so angry? Be smart and kneel down to surrender!"
"If I'm in a good mood, I might spare your dog's life!"
"Lu Yan! You despicable scoundrel! What kind of hero attacks by sneak attacking? If you have the guts, come at me fair and square!"
Zhao Xuan roared hoarsely.
The rain washed away the bloodstains on his face, making him look even more ferocious and terrifying.
Several generals from the Northern Xiang Kingdom behind him also started shouting.
"Exactly! What kind of hero are they who only know how to scheme and plot!"
A general with a full beard spat and glared fiercely at Lu Yan.
"If you've got the guts, let me go and we'll fight one-on-one!"
Another short, stout general shouted in a hoarse voice as he struggled to get up from the ground.
"You bastard, how dare you insult my master! You're asking for it!"
Li Kui was carrying the toothed tiger that Lu Yan had given him; the tiger was as docile as a kitten in his hands.
It stands in stark contrast to its menacing appearance.
He darted over in a few steps, too lazy to waste words, and started shooting with both hands.
He threw several punches, each one landing squarely, making those guys cry for their parents.
In the rainy night, the cracking sound of bones breaking was exceptionally clear.
The few bastards from Beixiang Kingdom who were just shouting loudly immediately shut up.
Brain matter was splattered all over the ground; the scene was extremely bloody.
Warm blood splattered onto Zhao Xuan's face, and the kid was completely dumbfounded.
His eyes nearly popped out of their sockets as he stared at the murderous-looking man in front of him.
I didn't dare to breathe too loudly!
The remaining soldiers of Beixiang were terrified.
They all fell silent, terrified that they would be Li Kui's next target.
Li Kui clenched his fists, his knuckles cracking, as if he was still not satisfied.
