In no time, the surrounding refugees and bandits were all mobilized.
They were all eager to join Lu Yan's team.
Meanwhile, Zhao Xuan indeed bypassed Ghost Cry Gorge and led his army straight to Shannan Prefecture.
Watching Zhao Xuan's army disappear into the distance, Lu Yan's lips curled into a cold smile:
"Little brat, you actually took the bait! This time I'll show you what it means to try and steal a chicken but end up losing the rice instead!"
Lu Yan looked at Night Owl:
"Night Owl, your special forces, this mission is of utmost importance."
Night Owl clasped his hands in a fist salute and said calmly, "Please give your orders, sir."
"You will lead your men to infiltrate behind enemy lines, scout out the location of Zhao Xuan's supplies and provisions, and sabotage them when the opportunity arises."
"Remember, safety first. If things don't look right, evacuate immediately."
"Yes!" Night Owl accepted the order and left.
The night was as dark as ink, and raindrops pattered on the leaves, making a rustling sound.
Night Owl led the special forces, moving like ghosts around the enemy camp.
They were dressed in black night clothes, their faces painted with camouflage, almost blending into the night.
"Captain, the enemy patrol changes shifts every 15 minutes, with two soldiers each time. The sentry post in the southeast corner has the worst visibility."
One of the team members reported the findings in a low voice.
The owl nodded, its eyes sharp as a hawk's:
"Okay, let's sneak in from the southeast corner."
"Remember, keep it quiet and don't alert those brats from Beixiang Kingdom."
The special forces members are all elites selected by hand.
They are agile and quick in their movements.
They approached the grain and fodder storage area silently.
They moved like ghosts along the enemy's patrol routes.
Meanwhile, in Shannan Prefecture.
Lu Yan was standing on the city wall, gazing into the distance.
"Sir, news has come from Night Owl that they have successfully infiltrated the enemy camp and are currently devising a sabotage plan."
Lu Fei walked to Lu Yan's side and reported in a low voice.
Lu Yan's lips curled into a cold smile:
"Good! This Zhao Xuan really thinks I'm a pushover!"
"This time, we'll make sure he loses both his wife and his army!"
"My lord, Zhao Xuan's marching speed is slower than expected; he seems to be waiting for something."
Zhang Xun pointed to the mark on the map and said.
Lu Yan stroked his chin, pondering for a moment:
"He's probably waiting for supplies and provisions. Humph, I'll make sure he doesn't get his way!"
"Pass down the order: send small units to harass the enemy's flanks and spread false information,"
"Just say that reinforcements have arrived from our Shannan Prefecture, with a force of 100,000!"
A sly glint flashed in Lu Yan's eyes.
"yes!"
In the main camp of Beixiang State, Zhao Xuan was pacing back and forth anxiously.
"General, the scouts report that reinforcements seem to have arrived from Shannan Prefecture, and their numbers are quite large."
A lieutenant rushed in to report.
"Reinforcements? How is that possible?"
Zhao Xuan's expression changed.
"Shannan Prefecture is just a small county town, where would it get reinforcements?"
"But... the scouts saw with their own eyes that there were indeed quite a few people..."
The lieutenant stammered.
Zhao Xuan frowned, a vague unease creeping into his heart.
Could it be reinforcements sent by the Datong court?
But the imperial army shouldn't have arrived so quickly...
"Recall the outer perimeter troops as soon as possible!"
Zhao Xuan gave the instructions.
Just then, a torrential downpour began, accompanied by lightning, thunder, and howling winds.
"A great opportunity!"
A glint flashed in the night owl's eyes, and he gave the order:
"Brothers, let's do it!"
The special forces members acted swiftly, placing Lu Yan's specially made gunpowder pack on the grain pile.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
A deafening explosion resounded through the night sky, and flames shot into the heavens, illuminating the entire night.
The Northern Xiang Kingdom's camp was instantly thrown into chaos, with soldiers panicking and fleeing in all directions.
Zhao Xuan, watching the torrential rain and listening to the deafening explosions from inside the tent, laughed smugly:
"It seems even the heavens are on my side. Is this thunderous sounding a triumphant hymn for my impending victory?"
He even raised his glass and drank it all in one gulp, facing the night sky.
However, there was no time to savor the taste of the wine.
A soldier covered in blood stumbled and crawled into the tent, crying out:
"Reporting...reporting to the general...rations...rations..."
"What's wrong with the supplies? Hesitating like a woman!"
Zhao Xuan roared impatiently.
"The...the grain...the supplies...have been burned!"
The soldier shouted out his last few words with all his might.
Then he collapsed to the ground and lost consciousness.
The wine glass in Zhao Xuan's hand fell to the ground with a "clatter".
It shattered into pieces, just like his feelings at that moment.
His eyes widened as if he had heard something unbelievable.
He stood there stunned for a long time, unable to react.
"What?!" It took Zhao Xuan a moment to come to his senses.
He grabbed the collar of the adjutant next to him and roared at the top of his lungs.
"Say it again! What's wrong with the supplies?"
The deputy general was startled by Zhao Xuan and stammered:
"The...general's...rations...seems...seems...on fire..."
"Fire?"
Zhao Xuan felt his head buzzing, his vision went black, and he almost fainted.
He never expected Lu Yan to pull this stunt!
"Damn Lu Yan! I'll never forgive you!"
Zhao Xuan roared through gritted teeth.
He suddenly kicked over the table in front of him, scattering the contents of the tent all over the floor.
A torrential downpour poured down, and the firelight illuminated Zhao Xuan's contorted face.
His heart was filled with anger and despair at that moment.
