Chapter Ninety-Two: I can build ships!

Deputy Regiment Commander?

Lord Lu actually trusts me so much!

She was stunned for a moment, then realized that Lu Yan was still waiting for her reply.

He immediately knelt down to express his gratitude.

"Thank you for your promotion, sir!"

"Don't get too excited yet," Lu Yan waved his hand.

"I'll give you a quota of two thousand people. Recruit them within seven days, and then I'll check the training results."

"If you don't meet my requirements, you can get out of here!"

"Rest assured, sir!"

Tu Rong's eyes gleamed with excitement.

He knew that he finally had a chance to show his skills!

Lu Yan nodded in satisfaction, then asked:

"What do you need to build an online army? Just tell me, and I'll give you my full support!"

Tu Rong pondered for a moment and said:

"My lord, to build a navy, the first thing we need is warships."

"Secondly, there are soldiers who are good at swimming, and then there are various weapons and equipment..."

Lu Yan waved his hand, interrupting:

"I'll figure out a way to deal with the warships."

"As for soldiers, you can pick whichever you like. Shannan Prefecture may not have much else, but it certainly has a lot of people!"

"As for weapons and equipment, I have mountains of them in my warehouse, you can pick whatever you want!"

Upon hearing this, Tu Rong was overjoyed. With Lu Yan's words, what did he have to worry about?

"My lord, I have another request."

Tu Rong said with a slight hesitation.

"Please feel free to speak."

Lu Yan readily agreed.

"This humble servant would like to request permission from Your Excellency to return to Java and recruit some soldiers familiar with naval warfare."

Lu Yan raised an eyebrow.

"Go back to Java? Wouldn't that be too dangerous?"

Tu Rong shook his head and replied:

“My lord, there is no need to worry. I am very familiar with the terrain and situation in Java.”

"Moreover, I still have some former subordinates in Java who have long harbored resentment towards the Javanese court."

“As long as I go back and raise my voice, they will surely respond.”

Lu Yan pondered for a moment and felt that Tu Rong's words made sense.

Moreover, if we can really recruit a group of elite Javanese sailors.

That would undoubtedly be a great help to Shannan Prefecture.

"Okay! I agree!"

"However, you must be careful on your journey and never reveal your identity!"

Lu Yan gave instructions.

Tu Rong was moved to tears.

"Thank you for your trust, sir! I will certainly not fail in my mission!"

So Tu Rong began preparing to return to Java to recruit soldiers.

Lu Yan, meanwhile, began to think about how to acquire warships...

That night, Lu Yan tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep.

Warships, warships, where can we get warships?

Suddenly, a thought struck him, and he sat up abruptly.

Yeah, I can build boats!

Although Shannan Prefecture is located inland.

However, there is a Grand Canal nearby with a rapid current, which is perfectly navigable.

Moreover, Shannan Prefecture is rich in timber, so there is no problem with the materials for shipbuilding.

Thinking of this, Lu Yan excitedly slapped his thigh, wishing he could start building the ship immediately.

Early the next morning.

Lu Yan then summoned all the craftsmen, both large and small, from the mansion to the back garden.

It's called a back garden, but it's really just a slightly larger open space.

It's usually used to store miscellaneous items, and they keep a few chickens, ducks, and geese.

It has been temporarily cleared out and is being used as a meeting place.

Lu Yan stood on a crooked wooden stump, cleared his throat, and began to speak:

"Masters, I have an idea; I'd like to build a few boats!"

These words immediately caused an uproar.

"Shipbuilding? Sir, that's a very technical job!"

An elderly carpenter with gray hair spoke first, his tone full of worry.

"Yes, sir, we're all furniture makers, who here knows how to build ships?"

Another, younger craftsman echoed him, his face full of embarrassment.

"That's right, sir, we don't have the tools to build a ship!"

"And the wood is different too; shipbuilding requires special wood!"

Immediately, a cacophony of doubts arose, like a flock of ducks quacking incoherently.

The noise was driving Lu Yan crazy.

He rubbed his temples, thinking to himself:

This group of people usually boast about their abilities, but when it comes to actually doing something, they all chicken out!

"Alright! Everyone, stop for a moment."

Lu Yan roared, finally calming the situation down.

He glanced around, a hint of threat in his eyes.

"I know that shipbuilding is not easy, but you are all the best craftsmen in Shannan Prefecture. Are you going to back down when you encounter difficulties?"

The crowd looked at each other, none of them daring to utter a sound.

Just then, a weak voice came from the crowd:

"Well, actually, I can build ships."

The crowd looked in the direction of the sound and saw a thin young man walking out from the crowd.

The man's name was Lu Ban II, and he was a craftsman that Lu Yan recruited from the common people.

It is said that his ancestors were descendants of Lu Ban, who was proficient in manufacturing various mechanical devices.

He is usually quiet and has a very low profile.

If he hadn't stepped forward today, Lu Yan would have almost forgotten that such a person existed.

"You can build ships?"

Lu Yan's eyes lit up, as if he had grasped a lifeline.

"Yes, I know a little."

Lu Ban II smiled shyly.

"That's wonderful! Lu Ban, you've been a huge help!"

Lu Yan excitedly patted Lu Ban II on the shoulder, so hard that he almost knocked Lu Ban II over.

"You flatter me, sir. I will do my utmost to help."

"Good! Good! Good!"
