Chapter 114 Why do I always forget this?

Chapter 114 Why do I always forget this?

"Are you bored in the hospital?" Si Yan looked at the little girl who was as happy as a bird out of a cage when she entered the house. He couldn't help but smile and rubbed her hair.

"It's still more comfortable at home!" Before Su Nian finished speaking, he fell onto the sofa with a "bang".

"Oh my little ancestor!" Su Hong's eyelids twitched. "Move slowly! You must always remember that you are carrying a little one in your belly!"

"Mom, why do I always forget about this?" Su Nian blinked, looking innocent.

The baby in the belly sighed secretly: Woohoo, is my sense of existence so low? I clearly have a fetal heartbeat!

"She's almost a mother, but she's still so disorganized and does things without thinking. Ah Yan, you have to keep a closer eye on her." Su Hong sighed helplessly. Her daughter's temper was like that of a child who had not grown up.

"Don't worry, Mom, I'm here!" Si Yan smiled gently.

"Ahem, Professor Si," Su Nian suddenly changed the subject. "You've been on leave for so many days. Shouldn't you go back to work tomorrow? Our family is counting on you to earn money for milk powder!"

Si Yan smiled and pinched her nose: "I'm afraid someone is tired of looking at me every day? Okay, I'll go to work tomorrow!"

"How can I possibly get tired of looking at it?! Professor Si, I can look at your handsome face for the rest of my life! This is a limited edition, and I’ll have a new experience every day!" Su Nian instantly turned into a little fangirl, her eyes sparkling.

"Ahem... If you two keep on being so affectionate, I'm leaving!" Su Hong said, unable to bear to watch. "We hired someone to clean yesterday, and the fridge is full. It's enough for you to eat for a week."

"Thank you, Mom!" Si Yan hurriedly thanked her.

"What's there to thank me for? Just be good to yourself. Nian Nian, especially you, you must behave well and don't be naughty!" Su Hong left with a smile.

At night, after Su Nian finished washing up and lying on the bed, Si Yan gently hugged her from behind and whispered in her ear, "Wait for me to get home from get off work. If you feel unwell, be sure to call me immediately."

Su Nian turned around and kissed him on the cheek, "I know, go to sleep quickly, you have to get up early for work tomorrow."

Si Yan smiled gently, and the two fell asleep in each other's arms, looking forward to the arrival of a new day.

On the other hand, Chen Ran has been very busy recently.

The company's reorganization had just come to an end and the daughter's compensation was finally finalized, but the old mother in the south had problems again.

The caregiver, Sister Li, called and said that for some reason the old lady had been talking about her son all the time lately, sometimes looking at his photo for the whole night. Sister Li was afraid that something might have gone wrong, so she urged him to go back and check on him.

But his daughter had just been discharged from the hospital, and he was really worried about her, but he had to go back.

After hurriedly saying a few words to Su Hong, Chen Ran set off back to the south that day.

As soon as the plane landed, his phone rang. Glancing at the caller ID, his brows knitted into knots. When he picked up the phone, his voice was as cold as ice: "What's up?"

"Mr. Chen, the old lady hasn't slept a wink all night again..." Sister Li's voice on the other end of the phone trembled.

Chen Ran's grip on the steering wheel suddenly tightened, his knuckles turning white. "Got it."

After hanging up the phone, I got in the car that came to pick me up and headed to the old villa where my mother lived.

The street scene outside the car window gradually blurred into a patch of color in his eyes. The shadow of the old villa he was about to visit swirled uncontrollably in his mind - the mahogany furniture was always clean and shiny. His mother's shrill voice from the past seemed to still echo in his ears: "You're ruining your future by marrying that girl in the workshop!"

That year he was still a designer in a garment factory and often spent time in the workshop.

Female worker Su Hong is the most efficient in the entire workshop. She is always willing to spend her spare time to help him improve the samples he designs, and the two of them work together very well.

At that time, Su Hong had two pigtails, her eyes were as bright as stars, and when she smiled, the whole workshop lit up.

The new styles he drew, when made by Su Hong, always presented the effect he wanted just right.

Feelings quietly grew during these interactions, and one time after drinking, the two crossed the line.

I remember that the moonlight that night was particularly bright, making people feel uneasy.

All this was somehow discovered by his mother, who was preparing to send him to France for further studies.

The old lady secretly found Su Hong and hurled threats and insults at her, scaring the little girl like a frightened rabbit. Su Hong decided to give up the south and return to her hometown.

He heard the news of Su Hong's resignation. When he rushed to the female workers' dormitory, the bed was empty. There was a note stuffed under the pillow. The handwriting was wrinkled with tears: "I'm leaving. I'm going back to marry the person my family introduced me to. Take care of yourself."

He rushed to the train station like crazy, and looked out desperately on the platform. He clearly saw the familiar figure through the window, but the next second, the train carried her away, taking his heart with it, leaving only fragments on the ground.

Later he went to France, and later he became known as Mr. Chen. He wore a suit and tie, looked respectable, but only he knew how much was missing in his heart.

But he rarely returned to the home where his mother lived. He only asked his lawyer to transfer money every month to hire a caregiver to look after his mother - as if he was fulfilling an obligation.

As the car pulled up to the villa's entrance, the sound of shattering porcelain was heard from inside. The nurse rushed out in a panic, "Sir, the old lady just woke up and kept asking to see you..."

Chen Ran pushed open the door and saw his mother slumped on the sofa, her hair as white as snow. In her hand, she clutched a faded photo. It was taken on his twentieth birthday. She was wearing work clothes, her smile revealing two small canine teeth, a youthful yet brilliant sight.

"Ran'er... is that you?" His mother's voice choked with sobs, and her skinny fingers suddenly grasped his wrist. "Back then... it was Mom's fault..."

Chen Ran's whole body stiffened.

Over the past few decades, he had rehearsed countless reunion scenes in his mind, some with arguments, some with indifference, but he never thought he would hear this long-overdue apology.

Before being discharged from the hospital, Director Lan and Fang Xia came to the hospital to visit Su Nian and told her about her work arrangements.

When Lan Ting came that day, Su Hong and Si Yan were both there. Looking at this good-looking family, it was really enviable.

Wish them the right choice!

I was filled with emotion: Su Nian was so lucky, she had parents and a lover. Then I thought about myself: besides work and money, I was afraid I didn't even have anyone I could talk to.

After Si Yan went to work, Su Nian began to work from home.

According to Director Lan's suggestion last time, if necessary, they could hire an assistant. She immediately thought of Zhang Qiuyan and wondered if she had found a job.
