Chapter 179 Late Night Surprise

Chapter 179 Late Night Surprise

The New Year atmosphere was still lingering on his fingertips, and the warmth of reunion had not yet dissipated, but Su Nian dragged his suitcase and boarded the flight to France again.

The clouds outside the porthole gradually blurred the outline of her hometown. She looked into the distance and gently clenched her palms: in order to complete her studies and return to her country as soon as possible, to be with Si Yan and her son Baoer, she must work harder.

The desk lamp is always on until late at night, and the notebooks are filled with one after another. Behind every paper is the longing for family.

Only she knows how hard she works abroad: when she was so tired that she fell asleep on the table, her dreams were filled with Baoer's soft voice calling "Mom"; when she missed dinner time due to her busy work on the paper, she saw Si Yan's message "Remember to eat" and remembered that she had forgotten to take care of herself again.

But whenever fatigue came over her, her heart ached and softened when she thought of Si Yan's appearance in China - he had to bear the pressure of work and support everything at home alone: getting up at night to make milk powder for Baoer, running around with the little one to the amusement park on weekends, and staying by the child's bedside all night when the child had a cold and fever, living like a super dad who was both a father and a mother.

During every video call, Si Yan would always say with a smile, "Everything is fine at home, don't worry," and then he would repeatedly remind her, "Don't work too hard, and eat on time."

But the dark circles under his eyes on the screen could not be deceived - she knew it very well, Baoer must have made a fuss again at night, and he stayed up all night again.

The heartache on the tip of my tongue was never expressed aloud. Instead, I wrote down my thoughts and concerns one by one on the blank document: "I saw the children on the street today, and I remembered Bao'er asked his mother to play with him with building blocks last time." "Si Yan, don't stay up late all the time. Remember to eat breakfast if your stomach is not feeling well."...

She read the email over and over again, her fingertip hovering over the send button, but she finally pulled it back. He was already tired enough, how could he let these words add to his worries? So, those thoughts quietly lay in the draft box of her mailbox, becoming a thought that belonged to her alone.

The days slip away quietly as I flip through the pages of books and miss my loved ones, and in the blink of an eye, it is the Lunar New Year again.

This time, Su Nian finished her graduation thesis ahead of time. The moment she received her degree certificate, her hands were shaking as she held the certificate - finally, she no longer had to say she missed them through the cold screen, and she could finally go back to them.

She didn't tell Si Yan when she would return, wanting to make this reunion a surprise.

It was late at night when the flight back to China landed in Jiangcheng. The damp and cold night wind blew in the face with the familiar city atmosphere. Su Nian called an online taxi and when he told the address of Wanjing International, his heart was pounding like a little rabbit.

Sitting in the back seat, she couldn't help but secretly curl her lips, rehearsing the scene of arriving home over and over in her mind: Would Bao'er throw himself into her arms, softly calling "Mom is back"? Would Si Yan see her and embrace her with a smile, as he used to? The imagined hug and kiss made her cheeks burn.

"Girl, looking at you like this, you haven't been home for a long time, right? Do you miss your parents?" The middle-aged man who was driving caught a glimpse of her smile in the rearview mirror and couldn't help but talk to her.

Su Nian smiled and nodded: "Yeah, I thought about it." But she quietly added in her heart - not only my parents, but also my husband who is waiting for me to come home, and my son who is looking forward to seeing his mother.

In Wanjing International’s home, there is still a warm yellow light on.

Si Yangang had just coaxed Baoer to sleep gently. The little guy insisted on having a running race with him in the evening. They played like crazy for a long time. Now he was sleeping soundly with his little brows slightly wrinkled, as if he was still "competing" with his father in his dream.

The sudden ringing of the doorbell broke the silence. Si Yan glanced at his phone - it was ten o'clock in the evening, so late, could it be that his mother-in-law had something urgent to do?

Without thinking too much, or even looking at the control panel at the door, he walked straight over to open the door, muttering, "Mom, it's so late, what do you have..."

Before he could finish his words, he froze when he saw who was at the door.

Su Nian in front of him was wearing a light-colored coat, her hair a little messy from the journey, and she was looking at him with a smile.

Si Yan's expression went from astonishment to shock, and then to unbelievable ecstasy. He was stunned for a full second before he managed to squeeze out a hoarse voice: "Girl? You... are back?"

The next second, he almost instinctively pulled her into his arms, closed the door behind him, and gently pushed her against the wall of the entrance.

Longing surged up like a tide, but when his hand rested on her lower back, he did so very gently - as if she were a fragile treasure, afraid that if he used even a little force, he would shatter this beautiful dream that he had been looking forward to for countless days and nights.

His breath carried the familiar scent of cedar, warm against the crook of her neck. His voice was hoarse as if it had been rubbed with sandpaper: "Why didn't you tell me in advance? I could have picked you up at the airport. Traveling at night must be tiring."

Su Nian's suitcase was still tilted in the entrance, and the light sound of the wheels hitting the floor was drowned out by her heartbeat.

She raised her hand and gently stroked the bruise under her boss Yan's eye with her fingertips - it was more real than what she saw in the video.

My fingertips accidentally rubbed the stubble on his chin that he hadn't had time to shave, which was a bit prickly, and tears fell on the back of his hand without warning.

"I wanted to give you a surprise..." Her voice was a little choked with sobs. "I was in a hurry to finish my studies. As soon as I got my certificate, I immediately booked a flight back..."

Before she could finish her words, Si Yan grabbed her neck and kissed her.

There was no eager plundering, only a delicate rubbing with grievance and longing, as if he wanted to put all the concerns of more than a year into this kiss, but he was also afraid that she would board the plane to leave again in the next second.

Su Nian's hand unconsciously grasped the collar of his pajamas. The fabric was washed soft and had a familiar touch. It was the one she had personally sewn for him before going abroad. It turned out that he had always worn it.

"Baoer..." Su Nian gently pushed him away and was interrupted by him just after she uttered two words.

"Shh..." He pressed his hand against her forehead, his voice soft and gentle, with a hint of imperceptible pity: "While he is sleeping soundly, can you... let me hug you first?"

Before Su Nian could respond, her lips were blocked by his kiss again, and this time, there was a bit more domineering and irresistible kiss.

The rubbing sound of fine fabric was particularly clear in the quiet living room. The next second, she was picked up by Si Yan and walked towards the master bedroom eagerly.

Moonlight seeped in from the gap in the curtains, illuminating the intertwined figures of the two people. As their ears rubbed against each other, there was a longing and tenderness that had been suppressed for too long. Every touch was filled with the cherishment of a long-awaited reunion.

After the passion faded, the two took a shower, changed into soft slippers, and walked quietly towards the children's room like two "thieves" who were afraid of waking up the child.

"Bao'er..." Su Nian kissed her son gently. The next second, Bao'er woke up, rubbing his eyes. When he saw who was kissing him, his little mouth suddenly opened wide, but then he suddenly held it back, tears falling first: "Mom?"

Su Nian opened her arms and hugged Baoer. The child also hugged her neck and cried, "Mom, why did you come back so late? Dad said that if you miss me, you can make a wish to the plane and it will come true..."

Si Yan stood by and looked at his wife and children hugging each other, his eyes red.

"Okay, okay, Mom is back and will never leave you again." Su Nian comforted her son while lying beside him.

Si Yan also lay down, and the family fell asleep in each other's arms.

Su Nian looked at her family in front of her, her heart filled with happiness.
