New World, Naval Headquarters.
Akainu looked unhappy and paced back and forth in the office in annoyance.
Kizaru drooped his eyelids, looking a little helpless.
"Sakaski, if you keep turning, I'm going to feel dizzy."
"It's been so long since Kuzan and I decided the outcome, why hasn't the marshal appointment been announced yet?"
"What exactly do the Five Elders mean?"
Akainu slammed his fist on the table and said hatefully.
"Maybe something important delayed him."
"Be patient, be patient."
"Now Kuzan has resigned, and Garp is unwilling to take charge."
"Except you, there is no one else in the navy who can take on the position of marshal." Kizaru said slowly.
"What could be more important than the appointment of the Admiral?"
Akainu growled angrily.
"Bulu bulu bulu~~"
"Bulu bulu bulu~~"
At this moment, the Den Den Mushi on the desk suddenly rang.
"This is Sakaski."
"Sakaski, this is Saint Mercury." An old but powerful voice came from the other end of the phone.
Akainu was immediately delighted when he heard this. The Five Elders called at this time, and it seemed that the position of marshal was finally decided.
"Sir, what do you want me to do for you?" Akainu said respectfully.
"The appointment of Marshal has been confirmed." Saint Mercury said in a deep voice.
Akainu was very excited. He had waited for so long and finally this day had come.
"The new admiral will arrive at the Navy Headquarters this afternoon."
"You need to make the reception more grand."
Hearing this, Akainu felt a buzzing in his head and his vision went dark.
"What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly?"
Akainu asked again, his voice sounding trembling.
"The new Admiral will arrive at the Naval Headquarters this afternoon to take up his post. You must prepare a good reception for him."
"Now, do you understand?" Saint Mercury said it again patiently.
"Why? Why not select from within the navy? Why parachute a marshal here?" Akainu roared angrily.
"Sakaski, you don't seem to have your place right."
"You are just a dog raised by the World Government. What qualifications do you have to question me here?" Saint Mercury said in a grim tone.
Akainu felt as if he had fallen into an icy cave when he heard this.
It turns out that those who sacrificed their lives for the World Government are just dogs in the eyes of others.
"You good-for-nothings."
"He controls the most powerful military force in the world, yet he can't even take down a mere Four Emperors."
"As the face of the World Government, we have been repeatedly slapped in the face by Crocodile and his ilk, suffering heavy losses."
"How can you still be so shameless as to ask us for the position of marshal?" Saint Mercury said in a cold tone.
Akainu's face turned pale as he listened to the voice coming from the phone.
"If we send someone down by air, the people below might not accept it." Akainu said with difficulty, trying to make one last attempt.
"Hmph, not convinced?"
"You can rest assured, that person will definitely make you obedient." Mercury Saint snorted coldly and hung up the phone.
Akainu's eyes were wide open, and all the strength in his body seemed to be drained away.
Kizaru couldn't help but frown at this time. The Five Elders' actions were too harmful to Akainu and the navy.
"Alas... Sakaski, now that things have come to this, we can only accept it calmly."
"You'd better take it easy." Kizaru didn't know how to comfort people, so he could only pat Akainu's shoulder and speak softly.
"Let it go? How can you expect me to let it go?"
"I've been looking forward to it for so long, but in the end it's all just a pipe dream."
"Now I'm a little envious of that guy Kuzan." Akainu said with a miserable smile.
"Not everyone can be a Marine Admiral."
"A new marshal would not be qualified for this position."
"I'm afraid he can only leave in disgrace." Kizaru said in a somewhat gloomy tone.
Akainu's eyes suddenly lit up when he heard that.
"You're right, I'm really confused by the situation!"
"The new admiral will arrive this afternoon. We must hold a meeting quickly to discuss how to welcome this new naval leader."
An hour later, in the meeting room of the Navy Headquarters.
All senior generals with the rank of lieutenant general and above gathered together.
After everyone arrived, Akainu stood directly on the podium and said straight to the point:
"The new marshal has been appointed. Guess who it is?"
"What's there to guess? It must be you." Huoshaoshan said nonchalantly.
"No, the new Navy Admiral is someone else." Akainu said expressionlessly, shaking his head.
"Who else could it be if not you?"
"Could it be Borsalino?" Vice Admiral Tsuru asked with some surprise.
"I don't have the ability to be a marshal." Kizaru spread his hands.
Even Kizaru denied that he was the new marshal, and everyone in the conference room looked at Garp.
But this old man was picking his nose with an intoxicated look on his face.
It seemed as if he had not listened to what people were discussing at all.
"Why are you all looking at me? Is it time for dinner?"
It took Garp a long time to realize that everyone was looking at him, and he asked in confusion.
Seeing his nonsensical look, everyone rejected the idea that Garp was the new marshal in their hearts without even asking him.
"So, who is the new Admiral of the Navy?" The flying squirrel looked at Akainu and asked the question that everyone wanted to ask.
