Chapter 43: The Heroic Heart of the Unlicensed Knight (1/2)

The surveillance footage shook violently due to the shock wave, and finally froze on the image of Pochi embedded in the rock above the research institute.

Only dozens of meters away from her hiding place!

"Damn it!" Sykes took off his glasses, and his blue hair fluttered without wind.

The superpowers erupted uncontrollably, and the surrounding instruments crackled and emitted bursts of green smoke.

She trembled as she pulled up the Hero Association's files and ran her fingertips over Saitama's name: "B-rank... the last one? You must be kidding! This level of strength is at least better than most S-ranks!"

Suddenly, in the surveillance video, Saitama looked up at the camera, his dead fish eyes seemed to penetrate the screen and look directly into her soul.

Sykes felt as if he had fallen into an icy cave, and his hair stood on end.

"He discovered me? No... Impossible..."

She forced herself to calm down. The wine on her chest was already cold, and the sticky feeling made her even more irritated.

Just then, the three people's communicators rang.

Watching their backs as they turned and left, Sykes let out a long sigh and slumped back on the sofa.

She then realized that her back was soaked, and the dark brown research suit clung to her skin, outlining a more graceful silhouette.

"The plan must be advanced..." She bit her nails, a dangerous light flashing in her eyes.

But then he remembered the warning from "that person" and had to suppress the thought.

"Wait a little longer... wait a little longer..." Sykes muttered to himself, his fingers unconsciously stroking the wine stains on his chest.

She put on her glasses again, and her eyes behind the lenses had regained their calm.

"Saitama, right... and King! I'll remember you." She licked her lips and showed a dangerous and charming smile, "Next time we meet, I'll prepare a big gift for you..."

At the same time, in the rock formation above the research institute, Pochi whimpered faintly, and six eyes looked fearfully in the direction where Saitama left.

The cold rain poured down, chilling the entire C to the bone.

Di Wang and Saitama rode on Genos and sped through the lead-gray rain.

Strong winds brought with them raindrops as big as beans that fell densely. The shattered streets, overturned vehicles, and burning wreckage below passed quickly across the field of vision like a doomsday scroll.

When they finally arrived above the central shelter in the heart of the city.

A strong smell of blood mixed with the wet smell of rain penetrated through the layers of rain curtains and rushed straight into the nose.

The thick alloy wall of the shelter, which was said to be able to withstand tank guns and missile bombardments, now had a huge gap with twisted edges!

Right in front of the hideous gap, on the ground mixed with mud and blood, several A-level, B-level and even C-level heroes were lying in a mess.

Their bodies were soaked in the blood-red mud in various twisted postures, and it was unknown whether they were alive or dead.

The only one still standing was that figure.

C-class hero, unlicensed knight.

His cheap green hero uniform had long been torn, and his exposed skin was covered with wounds deep enough to see the bones. Blood mixed with rainwater formed glaring streams under his feet.

He stood on his knees, swaying as if he would collapse to the ground at any second.

The raindrops hit his lowered head heavily, washing away the blood on his face, but could not dispel the fire in his eyes that wanted to protect others.

Deep inside the shelter, there were thousands of pairs of terrified and desperate eyes, the suppressed sobs of women, the heart-wrenching cries of children, and the rough breathing of men, all interweaving into a suffocating wail.

"What's the use of C-rank heroes!?"

"Even the A-class has fallen! We are finished! It's all over!"

"Someone come save us...I haven't graduated from my virginity yet...I'm not going to die yet! Mom!!!"

The unlicensed knight's body shook violently, as if being hammered by these desperate shouts.

He raised his head with difficulty, the rain flowing into his cracked lips, and he said with an unquestionable stubbornness: "I know... no one relies on me... I know better than anyone else..."
