Chapter 141 Connections

Chu Xing stopped abruptly in front of the conference room and looked at Assistant Lu.

“Approve a car for her in the company’s name. You know what to do.”

"yes."

Assistant Lu's face immediately fell into a mournful expression.

We finally got past the clothes hurdle, and now we need to figure out a way to arrange a car for her without arousing her suspicion.

That's way too difficult!

Since Chu Xing wasn't coming back for dinner, Song Mai kept things simple and just cooked herself a bowl of vegetarian noodles.

If he had said earlier that he wouldn't be coming home for dinner, Song Mai would probably have eaten at the company again.

After all, Yunxing's food was much tastier than what she could cook herself.

The next day, as soon as Song Mai sat down at her workstation, a girl placed a new stack of documents on her desk and took away the stack that Song Mai had finished reading the day before, without saying a word the whole time.

Song Mai quickly flipped through the documents above.

If the materials I looked at a couple of days ago were somewhat useful, then today's materials are almost entirely useless, and they even include some project materials from several years ago.

It looked like it was just randomly picked up without any selection process.

Song Mai knocked directly on Ji Fenghe's door.

"Enter."

Ji Feng didn't even look up: "What is it?"

Song Mai stared straight at him:

"Manager Ji, when can I stop looking at the documents?"

Upon hearing her voice, Ji Fenghe slowly raised his head, a hint of displeasure in his eyes.

"Wait until you are familiar enough with the department's operations."

If Song Mai only felt that he disliked her and was deliberately targeting her, then at this moment it was almost certain.

No company has the habit of leaving a new employee hanging for three days.

"I think I can start working on the department's work. To understand the department's business, I need to not only learn from the information but also get hands-on experience. What I can learn from the information is limited and not enough to support the actual work."

Ji Fenghe looked at the woman's extremely serious expression, a hint of contempt flashing in his eyes.

"Didn't the person who arranged for you to come in tell you? Yunxing is different from other companies. Not just anyone can do the work in our department."

Song Mai didn't quite understand what he meant. What did he mean by the person who arranged for her to come in? Was he referring to Manager Qiao?

It was indeed Manager Qiao who brought her here, but using the word "arranged" always feels a bit strange.

She straightened her back.

"Since I was able to join Yunxing, Yunxing must think that I am capable of handling the department's work. Manager Ji, isn't what you said a bit inappropriate? Besides, I haven't even started working yet, so how can you be so sure that I can't do it?"

Song Mai really couldn't understand Ji Fenghe's thought process. It was Yunxing that posted the recruitment announcement, and she successfully applied and joined the company.

How come she's being targeted by him so soon after starting the job, without even handling a single task? And being unjustly accused of being incompetent for the department's work is just ridiculous.

After hearing Song Mai's words, Ji Feng felt even more contempt for her.

He clearly got into Yunxing through connections, yet he still doesn't know his own limitations.

If she has that ability herself, why would she need to rely on connections?

You can simply rely on your own abilities to apply for the job.

He is truly incompetent and arrogant.

Just then, Tang Lanlan happened to pass by Ji Fenghe's office and overheard their conversation. She reached out and knocked on Ji Fenghe's door twice as a token gesture.

Before Ji Fenghe could speak, she walked in on her own and said to Song Mai:

"You don't have any work commitments, right?"

Song Mai shook her head.

"No."

"Alright, I'm short-staffed for my project, so you'll do. Any objections?"

Hearing this, Ji Fenghe was somewhat incredulous.

Tang Lanlan actually asked Song Mai to work on the project she was in charge of. Did she even know how Song Mai got into the company?

"Do you know her...?"

Ji Feng had just opened his mouth when Tang Lanlan interrupted him.

"What happened to her? Have you changed your mind? Are you going to arrange another job for her?"

Ji Fenghe pursed his lips: "That's not what I meant."

"That's good. I don't care about anything else. I'm short of people to do the work right now. If you have no objections, she'll be working for me from now on."

Ji Feng wanted to tell Tang Lanlan that Song Mai was not an ordinary person who was recruited, and probably couldn't handle the work assigned to her at all.

She might even mess up her job, since the project Tang Lanlan is in charge of is one of the most important projects in the company right now.

If this cooperation with the Western semiconductor company goes smoothly, it will play a significant role in promoting the group's future development.

It is very likely that the group will reach a new level in the future.

However, if Songmai's actions cause the other company to question Yunxing's professional capabilities, leading to prejudice against Yunxing and unpleasant cooperation, the losses could be substantial.

But Tang Lanlan is always an oddball who doesn't pay attention to anything outside her work and only focuses on her job, so she probably wouldn't listen to anything you said.

He thought about it and decided against it. Letting Song Mai follow Tang Lanlan might be a good thing. In a few days, she would feel the gap between herself and the others in the department.

Moreover, Tang Lanlan wouldn't indulge her. If she suffered more, she probably wouldn't be so arrogant, and it's possible that she would back down when faced with difficulties.

"I have no objection."

Tang Lanlan then looked at Song Mai.

"And you?"

She was naturally delighted that someone was willing to take her in.

"I don't have any either."

"Okay, come to my office in ten minutes."

With that, she turned and left.

Song Mai didn't have much to say to Ji Fenghe anymore.

She didn't want to say another word to those people who had this inexplicable prejudice against her.

Ten minutes later, Song Mai appeared in Tang Lanlan's office on time.

Tang Lanlan's office, like herself, has no superfluous decorations, only various work-related items.

"There's a seminar at the joint R&D center tomorrow that requires simultaneous interpretation. You'll come with me, is that alright?"

"no problem."

Tang Lanlan casually picked up two documents placed on the table.

"One document is information about this project; take a look and get to know it. The other document is materials needed for tomorrow's seminar; translate them and bring them to me later."

"yes."

Song Mai's response was crisp and decisive, without the slightest hesitation.

Tang Lanlan glanced at her, her eyes showing a hint of appreciation.

"Don't care what others think. Remember that you are here to work. Doing your job well is your job. As for other people's opinions and evaluations, as long as you do your job well, they will disappear from your ears sooner or later."

Song Mai was stunned for a moment, then realized that Tang Lanlan was actually comforting her.

She never expected that the first words of comfort she received in the department would come from the terrifying female demon that Su He had described.

"Thanks."

She thanked him sincerely.

Tang Lanlan's patience lasted only a short while, and then it seemed to have vanished.

"Alright, stop talking nonsense and get back to work. Working with me isn't so comfortable."
