Chapter 163 When will you confess?

"As expected, my granddaughter-in-law knows how to care for her elders, unlike my grandson, who doesn't understand his old man at all."

Grandpa Chu glared at his grandson with displeasure.

Chu Xing glanced back and mercilessly exposed him: "Didn't you say you were tired of eating at home and that it's nice to eat out occasionally for a change of pace?"

Old Master Chu glared at him with an annoyance.

"You brat, when did I ever say such a thing?"

Song Mai considerately cut the steak into small pieces for Grandpa Chu and placed them in front of him.

"It's good that Grandpa Chu doesn't dislike it. It's getting colder and colder now, and it's really inconvenient for Grandpa to come all this way to eat with us. How about we just come to your house next time? I'll cook. I've never been to your house before."

Upon hearing this, Old Master Chu's eyes lit up, and he immediately agreed, ignoring Chu Xing's dissuasive gaze.

“Great, of course! My old friends haven’t met you yet. Come visit me next time, I need to let them see my granddaughter-in-law.”

Midway through, Song Mai left to go to the restroom, and Grandpa Chu watched her retreating figure and slowly sighed.

"Aren't you going to tell her yet? Why keep it from her all this time?"

Chu Xing lowered his eyes, sensing the old man's heartache and reluctance, and his feather-like eyelashes trembled slightly.

He longed to be honest.

How could he possibly feel at ease putting on such a show just to hide the truth from her?

Moreover, after racking his brains to make the act more realistic during this period, he felt guilty and couldn't help but feel that his behavior was meaningless.

The more stable his relationship with her became, the more afraid he was of revealing the truth.

He was afraid of breaking the peace, afraid of facing her questions, and even more afraid that she would resent or hate him because of it.

"I've thought about it, but I haven't decided when to make it clear yet."

Grandpa Chu didn't know the reason, but he felt that Song Mai was definitely angry. He thought he should make it up to her and try his best to win her back. After all, Song Mai also liked his grandson, and even if she was angry, he would eventually find a way to win her back.

He put down his knife and fork and said very seriously:

“Even if you are my own grandson, I will not allow you to bully Mai Zi. As your wife, it is already wrong of you to have been deceived by her for so long. If you continue to hide this, I, as her grandfather, will not be able to stand it anymore!”

Chu Xing glanced at the time, his eyes flickering between light and shadow, making it impossible to discern his thoughts.

After a long pause, he finally spoke slowly: "Give me some more time, and I'll find an opportunity to tell her."

"That's more like it."

When Song Mai returned, she vaguely felt that the atmosphere in the private room was a bit low. She looked at Old Master Chu and then turned to look at Chu Xing, but did not find anything unusual.

"What are you talking about?"

Fearing she might overthink things, Grandpa Chu quickly said, "I was just telling this boy to treat you well. Tell Grandpa honestly, has he bullied you or not? Is he good to you? If he's not good to you, you must tell me, and I'll definitely teach him a lesson for you."

Song Mai didn't know what she had said or done that made Old Master Chu misunderstand that Chu Xing was treating her badly. Old Master Chu had said similar things more than once.

"Grandpa Chu, don't worry, Chu Xing is really good to me, you can rest assured."

Upon hearing this, Old Master Chu stopped talking.

After finishing their meal, Song Mai intended to sit and chat for a while longer, but before they could exchange more than a few words, they heard several young voices, both male and female, coming from outside the private room.

"It's snowing outside! Let's go out and see!"

Song Mai was stunned, somewhat unable to believe what she was hearing.

It's snowing? How could that be?

It's only November now, just the beginning of winter. Nandu is a southern city, and even in the dead of winter, it rarely snows, let alone at this time of year.

"Should we go out and take a look?"

The man had one hand on the back of her chair, and he was turning to look at her as if he wanted to pull her into his arms.

Song Mai blushed and shyly pushed him away gently, her voice barely audible.

"Stop fooling around, Grandpa's still here."

The old man immediately coughed lightly, and then picked up his cane and stood up.

"It's getting late, and you two have to go to work tomorrow, so I won't take up any more of your time. You can come see me again when you have time off next time."

As he spoke, Old Master Chu did not give Song Mai any chance to stop him, and pushed open the door and walked out.

Song Mai felt somewhat helpless, but worried that Chu Xing might fall or get hurt because of his leg problems, so she quickly urged him to help him up.

She grabbed her coat and followed.

A crowd gathered at the restaurant entrance, and white snowflakes fell from the sky, scattering everywhere in the wind.

People dressed as mascots were handing out balloons to the crowd at the entrance, while young men and women magically produced colorful ribbons from nowhere, spraying them recklessly and laughing. Laughter and merriment filled the crowd.

Song Mai peered through the gaps in the crowd to see the words on the giant balloons placed at the restaurant entrance, and realized that today was the restaurant's third anniversary celebration.

The snow falling from the sky wasn't real snow, but an artificial material that resembled snow, specially designed by the restaurant to celebrate its third anniversary.

However, when the wind blows, it does indeed look very much like real snow.

Song Mai wanted to drive Grandpa Chu home; after all, she owned a car now, and it was better for her to do it herself than to trouble someone else.

However, before she could say anything, the familiar black Volkswagen slowly pulled up and stopped in front of the restaurant.

A middle-aged man wearing a dark gray cotton coat got out of the driver's seat and waved to the three of them with a very respectful attitude.

Song Mai was already somewhat familiar with this middle-aged man, whom she had met three times before, and she politely nodded to him.

"My car is here to pick me up, so I'll be going now. I won't disturb you young people having fun."

Chu Xing helped Old Master Chu into the car, and the car quickly drove away.

Song Mai looked up at the continuous spray of "snow," which landed on her hair and shoulders, making it seem as if it were really snowing.

The north wind brought a chill, and both the temperature and the scene before her made Song Mai feel as if she were in a dream, as if she had suddenly traveled to a snowy season.

She caught the falling "snowflakes" with her hand. The snowflakes were also icy cold, but they wouldn't melt and weren't as delicate as real snowflakes. However, for Nandu City, a southern city, these fake snowflakes were enough to excite the people of Nandu City.

"I wish it were real snow."

Song Mai said with some regret as she crushed the "snow" with her hands.

Chu Xing reached out and gently patted the snow off her shoulder.

Do you like snow?
